  1. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Nov 6, 2005 -> 06:51 PM) No!!! They have to do Venom before they're done making this series. I really hope they do a 4th one then. It appears Topher Grace will be playing Venom in the 3rd movie.
  2. Podsednik is not longed for this team. IMO he'll be gone in 2 years.
  3. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Nov 6, 2005 -> 01:53 AM) It's easy to say Robertson hasn't rached his potential yet, but you gotta remember they also had Jason Ferguson and Josh Evans in there at DT. Now that DeWayne's the #1 guy in there, his numbers are getting much better, he has 16 tackles and 3 sacks in the last 3 games. How can you say this about Robertson while at the same time calling Michael Haynes a bust. Haynes has never stated since comming into the league becuase he's been stuck behind guys like Bryan Robinson, Phillip Daniels and now Alex Brown and Adawale Ogunleye. If you can say the jury is still out on Robertson because he's just now becomming the #1 guy, then how can you say Haynes is a bust while never getting consistant playing time?
  4. Also when you play half your games in a stadium that is nearly impossible for you to hit a HR in, you tend to change your approach at the plate. If it's hard for him to hit HRs at home, he may change his approach and try to hit more 2Bs and walk more, this approach would also carry over to road games. Just a thought.
  5. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 5, 2005 -> 09:46 PM) There are 2 ways to look at that. 1. Maybe he wasn't really as good as we thought he was. 2. Maybe he had a bad year, and since there are a lot of people thinking #1, his price might drop to where it's reasonable. Take your pick which one you want to believe. 3. Buehrle was right
  6. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Nov 5, 2005 -> 04:27 PM) And Konerko's road stats are good? I havent looked at it this year but last season he was absolutely horrible on the road.... Yes all those rangers take advantage of their park but they also would be able to take advantage of our park. They also take advantage of the light in center field.
  7. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Nov 5, 2005 -> 04:18 PM) The Wheaties boxes, not on sale yet to the public, are goign for over $20 on the bay. I think its kinnd of foolish because there will be thousands of them in a few weeks. Its gonna be a must-own collectible. Luckily (or unluckily) I work at a grocery store, so the second that the Wheaties boxes come in, 5 are being put aside for me.
  8. QUOTE(Felix @ Nov 5, 2005 -> 02:50 PM) So when you are getting paid millions of dollars a year to play a game isnt enough, you should hold out for even more money? a business
  9. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Nov 5, 2005 -> 01:51 PM) i think Washburn is very underrated and he might be the best pitcher in the market. Look at it this way: Times Washburn has won 15 or more games- 1. Burnett- 0. If you're looking for an overrated pitching stat, you found it. In wins. Washburn has been the better pitcher over the course of his career but Burnett isn't going to make $11M+ because he has been a consitant pitcher, he's going to make that money because he has some of the best stuff/overall talent in all of baseball. In other words; Burnett = Wood, Washburn = Buehrle.
  10. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Nov 5, 2005 -> 01:46 PM) You hit this right on the head. How many teams can afford Konerko and have this as a position of need. How many teams need pitching and are willing to overspend on it. Which player has Bora$$$ as their agent. Bora$$$ is looking for a max deal. AJ Burnett is nice, however if I was looking to invest in a pitcher it would be Washburn or Millwood. AJ Burnett's agent is Darek Braunecker.
  11. Great, now I get to look forward to even more TO talk on all major sports news broadcasts. W00t.
  12. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Nov 5, 2005 -> 12:18 PM) because he doesn't try. Have you ever seen him take BP? Put him in the Cell and he hits 30 Home Runs. Why the f*** isn't he trying, 15 more HRs next year would be 15 more RBIs and 15 more Runs for his team. The Mariners could win more games next year if Ichiro "tried". I just really don't give a s*** what he does in BP, I've seen him do it at the cell and at Comerica and he hit some HRs, congrats that's BP. Maybe he should try it in a game situation.
  13. QUOTE(beck72 @ Nov 5, 2005 -> 06:11 AM) Giles is overrated anyway. In this post steroid era, Giles' numbers are probably coming back down to earth If a 148 OPS+ from last year is comming down to earth, I wish more players would do the same. It's funny how Brian Giles' power numbers dropped midseason in '03 when he was traded to San Diego. You get Brian Giles out of Petco and he goes back to his 30+ HR self.
  14. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 11:43 PM) yeah and he said Ichiro can't hit for power. Ichiro had 15 Home Runs in one of the best Pitchers parks in baseball. If he really wanted to he could hit 30 Home Runs in a season. This is one of the stupidest things I've heard concerning Ichiro. Everyone keeps saying that if Ichiro wanted to he could hit 30-35+ HRs next season. Well if he can truely do that why the f*** doesn't he, instead of hitting 15 more singles next season, hit 15 more HRs. It's the same thing with Ty Cobb and it makes no sense.
  15. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Nov 5, 2005 -> 02:37 AM) Like I said unless its Teixiera coming out of Texas stay away from their players.... He can play 3B too if thats what they really want so its all good. I guess Michael Young is good too but Blalock is way overated. I don't think Mark Teixiera is even a good fit for the Sox. Talent and overall play wise he's a great player and any team would love to have someone as versatile (1B, 3B, SH) as him on their team. However the legistics of the whole situation just suck. Teixiera is going into his first year of arbitration but Scott Boras is trying to avoid arbitration with the Rangers however the stipulations are kind of ridiculous, Boras is looking for a 10 year deal in the neighborhood of $180M - $200M. Not to mention the fact that JR an KW have taken a major stance against Scott Boras by refusing to draft any of his players and avoiding dealling with him when attempting to give Juan Uribe a new contract. Just for fun we'll look at Mark's Home/Away splits from last season: Home - 30HR, 88RBI, .334/.411/.698/1.109 K/BB: 48/37 Away - 13HR, 56RBI, .270/.349/.459/.809 K/BB: 76/35 I'm just not sure bringing in Scott Boras' new favorite client would be all the good of an idea.

  17. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 10:40 PM) Boers and Bernstein talked about this subject for a little today, and they made some points I agree with. Basically they said that teams that have won for awhile have been fluid. It would suck to see PK go, he has been great for this team, but I will trust KW, I think he's earned that from me. If they lose PK and he can bring in an Overbay and Matsui, I think that goes aways to make up for the loss. Also, over the past few days Boers has been saying if the Sox trade someone from their staff it would be Garcia. Haven't heard this elsewhere, but I imagine he would be worth something pretty good. They mentioned Blaylock from Texas 2 things on your last point. To preface my post I must first say, B&B may come across as knowledgeable Baseball guys but they're are clueless when it comes to certain topics. If anyone from this starting staff was going to be moved it would not be Ozzie Guillen's best friend/family member in Freddy Garcia, it would be the 26 year old starter who has finally had a season showing that he could live up to his potential and is in his final year of arbitration eligiblility in Jon Garland. Garland's value >>> Garcia's value. Hank Blalock is extremely scary player. He put up a .749 OPS last season, that's 13 points higher than Rowand. Blalock did NOT hit on the road at all last season, his home/away splits are just horrid. Home: 20HR, 63RBI, .297/.361/.534/895 Away: 5HR, 29RBI, .231/.276/.335/.611 80% of Blalock's HRs came at home last season. The only thing you know you're getting from Blalock is great defense.
  18. QUOTE(springrovesoxfan @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 09:54 PM) The Sox should go nomore than 5 years for PK. He has had some horrible years in the past and is overdue for one. But when it comes to paying for good players, it is time for JR and Kw to put up or shut up. They both have said in the past that they need fannies in the seats to be able to afford the better players and this year we had the 4th highest attendence in Sox history, and next years should be even better, so there should be no excuse for not getting the "better"players, be it PK or any oyher. Paul Konerko has had 1 bad season ('03) since he's come into the league, he has been a model of consistancy for overall season numbers. I don't know if you've noticed but there aren't many "better" players available right now, Konerko ist the best player on the free agent market.
  19. The Spurs are most definately unstoppable.
  20. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 06:36 PM) He signed a 2 year deal as well, so he may possibly be our starting RT in 2006. Good luck with that.
  21. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 07:08 PM) Great Hawk Harrelson quotes of 2005 1. "Are you nuts!!!!" 2. "Where will they play him?" 3. "Who is Dayn Perry?" and on a similar note, did he learn to smell his name the same place as Jhonny Peralta? I don't know why, but this really made me laugh.
  22. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 05:24 PM) I read where the Padres took their 3 year $21 million offer to him off the table. They were hoping he would take a paycut. I'm sure if all things were equal he would want to be on the west coast, but if the money is there the White Sox could offer him a realistic chance at the World Series. Pursuing him would be worth KW's time IMO even if he did say no thank you. It all depends on when and who replaces Kevin Towers.
  23. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 01:18 PM) Just to let everyone know, there's less than a 5% chance of Giles leaving the west coast and less than a 1% chance of him ending up with the Sox. I wouldn't include him in any plans for this offseason. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 01:47 PM) I think the Tribe will pursue Giles as much as any other team will (Cubbies of course) but Giles will end up staying on the West Coast, especially if Kevin Towers is replaced sometime soon with someone more competent.
  24. Widge is on the Score right now. His voice is dreamy
