QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 11:38 PM) I don't know about any of you guys but I am certainly not gonna slack off and f*** up my "future" in my junior year. All I am doing is repeating myself. I am super-f***ing-stressed right now and my life is crumbling as I speak but I am not gonne let that s*** stop me. I respect all of your guys opinions but there is no way you going to change my mind about this. Like I said earlier, I am having a lot of fun in school but school is my main priority outside of being a good brother and helping out since my punk-ass pussy father left. Family, school, then fun. That sums it up for me. s***, I;m not having enough fun? I just joined soccer last week and I am having a blast. This is a very scary line comming from a person this young. I understand I'm only 3 years older but I've never felt like my life was crumbling. I've been stressed but I've always found good ways to relieve stress such as lifting weights and just working out in general, exercise is a good release. There are other ways to relieve stress that work much better....

QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 11:38 PM) I think it is pretty hilarious that you talk about smoking and drinking at the age of 21 like it is the devil. Now, I don't smoke personally. However, I am at a major state university of around 20,000 people and about half the people I know smoke and about 90% of them drink at the very least socially. I would really suggest that you try to loosen up and have fun while you are young. Once you get out of school you will more than likely be busting your ass trying to find a job, pay bills, take care of loans and try to do about 500 other things that you won't have time for. You have to enjoy the time you have while you can because you never konw when your life can change, be disrupted or end. You only have so many days on this earth and you should live every one like it is your last. Life is too short to be serious and gung ho about things like deciding what color drapes your guest house is going to have. Just have fun, take care of your s*** and most of all never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive in the end anyways. I didn't even read his entire quote. I can't believe that bum line. I drank in HS, I didn't smoke (tobacco) and I'm not set out to be a bum. I got my s*** in order over my junior and senior years and at the same time managed to have a damn good time. You can do things that might be taboo and at times illegal in high school and still come out of it with a plan for the future, just because you want to be successful in life doesn't mean that you cant's have fun when you're young, you just have to keep your head on straight, try to make smart decisions and enjoy yourself.

:banghead 8/23/05 I love the fact that most people can not correctly title a game thread. Odd. I wonder what the Sox record is when the title needed to be changed? -
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 11:03 PM) IMO, I'll have time for fun when I am out of school. My god-damn business as 16 year old is to worry about school, get my as an education, and not turn into a f***ing bum living in the streets, asking for change, and smoking and drinking by the age of 21. I am sorry if I have different views on life and different opinions than other but deal with it. How about instead of badgering someone who is trying to become something in life, give him props for how he is busting his ass while everyon is out smoking and drinking and and getting dumb b****es pregnant. I'm sorry. Call me a lame. Call me dumb. Call me whatever the f*** you want but don't f***ing disrespect me forbusting my ass!!! IMO, this is not the best way to go about things. Talk to 97% of all 35+ year olds and most will tell you that they wish they made more out of their time in HS. I have absolutley no regrets about what I did in HS and I'm perfectly setup for my future. I know that when I hit 40 years old I'll look back at my HS experience and think of how great that time was and how I made the most of it. You can't gaurantee yourself "fun" after HS. To say that when you're done with school you'll start living is pretty dumb.

QUOTE(Yeast Confection @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 11:08 PM) Sox will go 24-17 the rest of the way. (Could do better but they will be sitting the regulars.) Can Tribe go 30-7? Fathom and Co. flick forth a resounding "Yes!". Others disagree. Is there any chance that you're not Brando? Too obvious.

QUOTE(Yeast Confection @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 10:57 PM) LF Pods (healthy) DH Durham RF Giles CF Rowand (his Slugging should bounce back to .500+) 1B Overbay 2B Iguchi C AJP 3B Mueller SS Uribe (looking better lately; hopefully he's growing out of his moronic ways) Something along those lines. Not gonna finish with 250 HR on the season, but when it comes to Quality Pitchers in Big Games, that line-up can hold its own with anybody. Just for the record: LF Pods (30yo) DH Durham (34yo) RF Giles (35yo) CF Rowand (28yo) 1B Overbay (29yo) 2B Iguchi (31) C AJP (29yo) 3B Mueller (35yo) SS Uribe (26) THAT is an old team. Oh yeah, I'm curious to find out which prospects you think are overrated? -
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 10:51 PM) Oh my god. If I hear one more thing about how f***ing young I am I am going to hang myself. Seriosuly, I am going through the same s*** he is. Can you please get off my back about my age already. I am 15 and I will be 16 this Saturday. 5 days away. I will be a junior in high school this coming year and I will be taking my ACT's and SAT's and I will be applying to colleges and I HAVE been talking to colleges such as Grand Valley State, Rutgers, UMinn, So. Miss, and a number of other schools about accepting me into their college and talking them about the major that I have chosen. Yes, I have already chosen my major. Wow. Holy s***. He chose his major. But wait, I am like 7 years old right? How have I already chosen my major. I have. It's Broadcast Journalism and Communication. Are you happy? I hope that answers your damn question! Besides, I never told him what to do. Did you read the post? Did you skip the "in the end, it is all up to you" part!?!?!? :End of Rant: Now, Tadahito15, sorry for high-jacking the thread a bit, but like I said, do what your heart says and do what you will enjoy... Sounds like a fun HS life. Damn, 15 years old and talking to colleges and worring about your Major, go out and have some fun.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 10:55 PM) Just to be clear...I never said that I would have Hidalgo over Dye. I was simpy defending the FACT that Hidalgo does not suck. He may not suck but he does blow. Injuries + incositancy + bad D = a average to below average ballplayer, even if he did hit 44 HRs in one season. -
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 10:42 PM) No offense, but how old are you again? And you're telling people what to do in life? Hmmmmm. Although, your premise is mostly right. Here's the thing. When you are in college, you will start to make financial choices. MAKE THOSE CHOICES BASED ON THE LIFESTYLE YOU WANT OR CAN AFFORD when you get out. For example, if you borrow a lot to get through school, sports management unless you get really lucky and get hooked up through an internship or get a contact while in school might not pay the bills. Whereas if you work your way through school with some hard work and have little debt and don't get some hot chick pregnant or something (in other words few responsibilities - and YES drive that clunker, forget the new car right out of school) you are a little more flexible to pursue your dreams. I hope that makes sense. Bottom line, life is about choices. Be smart, and dream big. What are you saying, you don't wanna take career advice from a 15 year old? Well that's just silly.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 10:41 PM) Hmm, I am sure you would have said that about Dye/Hidalgo in the 1st month and a half of the season... :rolly Yes, the guy has been horribly inconsitant over his career and is consistantly injured. Oh yeah, your point makes s*** of sence. Hidalgo hit .173 in April with 2 HRs and 9 RBI. Dye hit .175 with 3 HRs and 8 RBI. That's about equal and considering how I dislike Hidalgo and I loved the Dye signing, I'm gonna say I'd stick with Dye. Hell, Hidalgo busted out in May with a .307 BA, 8 HRs and 19 RBI then went on an absolute tear in June by hitting a White Hot .139 BA, 3 HRs and 6 RBI. Dye >>> Hidalgo. -

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 10:34 PM) Wow. Just wow. Damon was an All-Star for a reason. Hidalgo can be compared to Dye with lesser D but more pop. Damon = gobs of money, the Cubs will throw a s*** load at him, as well as the Sawks and the yanks. You dont' wanna spend $10+ on Furcal, you can't bring up Damon's name. Hidalgo blows, if you want anything to do with that guy you're a f***ing idiot. .221 BA and 16 HRs not to mention the fact that he's on the DL right now, yeah he's as good as Dye, check your stats. -

QUOTE(Yeast Confection @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 10:28 PM) Can't speak for anyone else, but I like my closers/relivers making no more than 2-3 Mill a year. Unless you're Gagne on roids or Mariano or somethun'. Politte-Cotts-Vizcaino-Jenks-Marte are just gonna have to get it done on the cheap in 2006. (Assuming Hermanson is traded while he has value.) The $$$ freed up from departures of Everettand Konerko + whatever raise JR promised should be spent mostly toward offense. And, no, that don't mean throwing 10-12 Mill after Furcal matter, either. If not Furcal then who do you suggest they go after? This is an extremely weak FA market. Kevin Millah? Bill Mueller? Nomah? Jaque Jones? Johnny Damon? Hidalgo? WEAK The only guy I really like is Brian Giles. 96 walks is quite valuable to a ballclub. -
What about the fact that they were showing all of the sports arenas in Chicago, starting with the Jordan statue outside the UC then to the lake front and Soldier Field then they show a Mcdonald's and then on to Wrigley. The Sox do not exist. They make is blatent, it's f***ing sad.

My question is, why do White Sox personel continue to be pictured on chicagoscene.com? Who's next?

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 01:02 PM) I thought you only optioned someone outright if you were taking them off the 40 man, no? I think Walker had to pass waivers, but he was just optioned, not outrighted. That is true, you "outright" someone off the 40 man roster and you "option" someone to AAA and they stay on the 40. I just used the wrong word on the second part of my post, though I did get it right in the first part.

QUOTE(DePloderer @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 01:07 PM) Nice attempt, your starting to think about the layout. The effect on the main pic is too strong for me, maybe overlay it on the origional. But will someone please tell me why I get so few comments on my walls, my ego is as big as the next guys. I get loads of views but so few comments, if you like them, hate them or not care either way; if you take a look please let me know that your all interested in me doing more. Rant over. SoxFan1 I find not messing too much with the main image, except maybe boosting the colour a bit, seems to work better. Revert to the first image ( cut out looks good) and just turn the brightness down a bit (use hue/saturation) tidy up where logo goes into hand and fade texture a bit and you'll have an OK wallpaper. Noone comments to your wallpapers because they rock and it gets old just telling you over and over again that your wallpapers are awesome. Maybe you should make a s***ty one and you'll get comments like Soxfan1 does.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 07:56 AM) I thought Kevin Walker was DFA when he was sent to Charlotte last time? Am I mistaken? IIRC, he was out of options so in order for the Sox to option him to Charlotte they had to send him through waivers. He cleared and was optioned to AAA however he remained on the 40.

QUOTE(Wedge @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 10:30 AM) Washburn would be the best FA pitcher out there (except for arguably Beckett). I think that we would trade a starter (like Contreras) in a deal for a bat. It makes sense, but only if you stretch it a bit. Burnett? Burnett >> Washburn -
QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 11:02 AM) Are they broadcasting from someplace original, like Wrigley? Today is Illinois. According to the teaser they showed yesterday this thing is going to be 100% Cubs. They're going to broadcast from Wrigley field during the Cubs Braves game and they're going to have a special segment on the #1 event in Chicago sports history, the Bartman play.

QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 09:35 AM) They are blocking Soriano the hitter not the secondbaseman. Let me ask a question here, if they claim him can there be a trade? Doesn't he have to clear for the Twins to be able to trade him? The Twins can pick him up for the remaining salary and then non-tender him. I thought he had to clear though to be traded. The Rangers can pull him back but then he can't be traded. By Minnesota claiming him, they are now taking all of his salary and not responsible for compensating Texas. Am I correct????? Sheeh.. Read the quote below, it should clear up all your misconseptions. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 21, 2005 -> 09:58 PM) The Twins claimed Alfonso Soriano. Out of the all the teams that claimed him the Twins have the worst record and since the American league gets first dibs on Soriano all National league teams would then be eliminated. Since the Twins claimed Soriano the Rangers can do a few things. 1.) Retract him from waivers meaing he would not be able to be traded. 2.) Dump him on the Twins, with the Twins eating all of his salary. 3.) The Rangers and Twins can negotiate a trade that would send Soriano to the the Twins for players that a.) are not on the 40 man roster b.) players whom have already cleared waivers c.) players on the 40 that they feel would clear waivers (meaning putting them on waivers and if they clear, they can then be traded to Texas) The Twins have exclusive rights to Soriano right now, they are the only team that can trade him since they were the team with the worst record to claim him. The White Sox can not trade for Soriano.
