  1. QUOTE(SpringfieldFan @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 05:16 PM) If I were KW, I guess I could always make an offer. I would have to require that Boston pick up 30% of his contract, that we give up no more than two full time starters and two top level propsects, and that Manny sign a clause that he must wear a uniform that fits him. SFF I don't see Boston picking up a penny of his contract or trading him to any AL contender if they do find some way to trade him which I don't see happening either. It would cost a lot for him player wise.
  2. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 05:15 PM) This bring up the question though, who would you rather have, Aubrey Huff, or Overbay? It's a wash in my mind. Huff is more expensive $ wise and prospect wise than Overbay but is a better all around player with more power. Huff can play OF as well as 1B/DH (I do not count him as a thirdbaseman). I'd say I'd rather have Huff but it's too close to call really.
  3. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 05:14 PM) it was sarcastic, I figured I didnt need the green. You never know.
  4. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 05:12 PM) Prince who????? If we get Overbay, good, but its not looking good right now. I think KW is looking towards Huff to settle that need. You've never heard of Prince Fielder? Cecil Fielder's son. One of the top prospects in baseball, major power.
  5. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 05:06 PM) The only team who would take him is the Yankees... Somehow I don't see that happening.. I must say the Cubs should seriously look into this, they have a s***load of talent in their Minor leagues and some good expendable ML talent. Manny would absolutely rake at Wrigley in LF for the Cubs.
  6. QUOTE(Whitesoxfan56 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 05:03 PM) Your right that they wont trade him to us. But which team can they trade him to and what will it take to get him. "A s***load" isnt really the answer i was lookin for It would probably take 2 good ML position players and atleast 1 ML pitcher + prospects. Manny has a joke of a contract.
  7. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 05:03 PM) probably either closer or setup. Just put him in a pressure situation. Let's see what he can do in it. Shingo will not be the closer down there. Baj has an ERA hovering around 1 he'll keep his job. Shingo will be plugged in as a middle reliever.
  8. QUOTE(bigred3535 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 04:58 PM) That was just idle daydreaming, not necessarily a serious suggestion. But if they were to get rid of a relatively expensive, arbitration eligible player like Overbay in the process and get back another young arm like Bajenaru they might think about a trade. I'm not saying they're willing to trade him, but if they were willing to listen to offers KW should consider it, that's all. The only reason they'd even think of trading Overbay right now (which they have denied that they are trying to do) is because they have a player in AAA right now in Prince Fielder whom they feel is going to be a better overall player than Overbay in the long run and he is ready now. Overbay is not expensive at all, he'd make about $2M in arbitration, they'd keep him if they had a place to put him. There's absolutely no motivation to trade Turnbow.
  9. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 04:58 PM) Oh.. Like BlackJack did last year I assume. Exactly.
  10. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 04:57 PM) He will be effective again. He lost his release point, and we lost our patience. I think his experience and maybe working with his old pitching coach should restore shingo. He just needs his breaking balls to be called strikes and we are in business! He is almost 37 years old. Can't it be that he's just losing it?
  11. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 04:57 PM) Eh.. nope. That's about what he said.
  12. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 04:54 PM) I believe I've read a column or two by him there, I'm not sure if he does it all the time but I'm pretty sure he's written atleast a few columns for them. He's not a regular like Sanberg but he has written a few columns. They have like 20 ex MLB players writing for them.
  13. QUOTE(HSC's Biggest Fan @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 04:54 PM) He will be productive for us by the end of the year. How Wille Harris (BA about .220) and Vizcaino stick arund and he is gone is a complete mystery. Doug Jones is on the Sox?
  14. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 04:50 PM) Doug Jones.. where the heck is he these days..? He retired in 2000.
  15. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 04:36 PM) i thought it was 3. OK, I looked it up it is 3pm ET and 2pm CT, so I was right and you were wrong, as usual.
  16. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 04:36 PM) i thought it was 3. I don't know leave me alone.
  17. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 04:32 PM) When's the exact deadline? Is it 3 p.m. on Sunday? 2 P.M central.
  18. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 04:24 PM) Please tell me what you don't like about what I said? I'm not allowed to have an opinion? That's not it. The guy didn't say the Sox got fleeced, read his whole post again. As a Brewer fan he feels that his team make a great trade, they had no use for Pods and Viz was a throw in. They needed some righthanded power and Carlos provided that perfectly. From a Brewer fan standpoint he feels that his team got the better of the deal but he understands why a Sox fan would feel his team got the better of the deal. Fleeced may have been a poor choice of words, you should try comprehending what he says. Don't bust out that "I'm not allowed to an opinon" s***, I'm not saying you can't have an opinion I'm saying you didn't fully comprehend what he meant with his post.
  19. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 04:21 PM) There's no way the Sox got "fleeced," they're 30 games over .500, have a 11 1/2 game lead, and one of the main reasons is Pods. This is the "fantasy" effect on baseball. Just look at the players individual numbers and judge them on those alone :banghead :banghead
  20. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 04:04 PM) Wagner = FA at the end of season. Marte = signed for God knows how long. Marlins = no money to resign Wagner if they traded within their own division to get him, which they wouldn't. Damaso Marte is signed through next season for 2.5M and he has a team option for both '07 and '08 each worth 3M. So he's protected through the next 3 seasons.
  21. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 03:35 PM) That was by far the worst trade deadline update ever. Who gives a s*** about the Braves? Who care how Scott Williamson does when he comes back with the Cubs? Umm the guy who called in and asked about the Braves cares. Cubs fans listening to the interview care.
  22. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 03:29 PM) Burnett very open about testing FA and if he does come to the Sox, getting him to sign long-term would be tough. He days Burnett would realize that KW re-signed Freddy and he might be able to re-sign Burnett... NEWS FLASH Thank you Phil Rogers.
  23. QUOTE(professionalfan @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 03:27 PM) What do you think his role will be in Charlotte? Middle Relief. Baj is a stud AAA closer.
  24. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 02:59 PM) Niiiiiiiiiice. I can't wait for the Crede. You mean the Timo one.
  25. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 03:16 PM) All I hear is the Cubs game... QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 03:17 PM) Then turn on the score and not 720. :headshake
