  1. I wouldn't mind seeing a trade for Huff now. I think I'm in the minority thinking here but I'm kinda glad Frank isn't comming back this season. He is my favorite player of all time but the player I saw this season is not that man. We need a more consistent bat than Frank's in the middle of our lineup.
  2. QUOTE(DMoneyIsMine @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 01:13 PM) everyone says, shingo wasn't gettin it done, good, we got jenks. a. is jenks a good pitcher, and will he hurt the chemistry of this team? the reason the white sox are where they are is because of flawless chemistry, don't forget that. b. was shingo our weakest pitcher, or was it possibly luis or damaso? c. will a.j. burnett hurt the chemisrty of this team, and is he worth having for bmac and damaso? d. don't forget that if the white sox didn't have that flawless chemistry they had at the start of the season, they wouldn't be in first. and is jenks being brought up and replacin shingo and frank goin down, and gload (a good guy? we don't know.) hurtin this team and its flawless chemistry? a. Jenks is a very good pitcher and he will not hurt chemistry. b. Shingo was our weakest pitcher especially when you facter in that our manager had lost all confidence in him to get the job done. c. I don't want Burnett on this team as a 2 month rental. However he is probably worth Damaso and BMac. d. Frank is hurt Gload came up, I don't see how that hurts chemistry, I've never heard a bad thing about gload (and many people do call Thomas a clubhouse cancer :rolly ) Losing Shingo (a bad pitcher) and gaining Jenks (a good pitcher) should not hurt this chemistry. Oh yeah and the reson the Sox are in 1st place is because of great starting pitching, timely hitting, stellar defense and a great bullpen. All credit for success can not go to the fact that the players get along nicely.
  3. QUOTE(BDavisFutureHOF @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 01:12 PM) I was referring to Valentin -- hence -- "The Pornstar" Am I the only one that thinks he looks like a pornstar?? Actually, that would be the concencus.
  4. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 12:39 PM) :headshake :headshake :headshake I hate people. I'm gonna have to go ahead and agree with you there. People in general do suck.
  5. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 12:35 PM) I would have to agree. Brandon, or in this case Contreras is just good insurance. If we give up Jose and Bmac for Burrnet, who goes into the 5 spot when El Duque breaks down???? Munoz?? Adkins??? :puke Well people on this board seem to think that Adkins would be a better option than McCarthy which is not so much true as it is false.
  6. So he's not in critical condition, he's in good condition. You made it sound much worse than it was.
  7. McCarhty, Marte and Contreras for Burnett and Lowell is to much IMO. McCarthy and Marte for the two is much more doable. Welcome to Soxtalk and such
  8. QUOTE(My Left White Sock @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 04:25 AM) And I don't understand how people can be worried. The Sox have it as good as it gets at the end of July. I couldn't bring myself to cheer for the Twins but I would like to see Cleveland take the wild card to get the AL Central some respect as a tough division. I also have memories of Cleveland as a worthy rival in the mid-nineties, where as the Twins as a rivals are more like gnats that won't go away. If Cleveland wins the WC that means the Sox would have to win the the division winner from either the Eas or West.
  9. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 02:14 AM) f*** b mac... from watching him, he wont ever be anything in the MLB... hes afraid to throw his change and he sucks. WTF!?!?! Do you know who Bmac is? Look him up, his name is Brandon McCarthy he is currently pitching for the Charlotte Knights, the AAA affiliate of the Chicago White Sox and he does not suck.
  10. Yes, I don't think HBP should help him though.
  11. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 11:36 PM) Am i a bad person because i think i like pauly shore's show "minding the store"?
  12. Seriously though how many times have we heard that the Burnett deal is all but done. It has lost all luster.
  13. QUOTE(peanut33tillman @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 06:48 PM) for some of u who hadnt seen this...relax I am quite relaxed.
  14. QUOTE(peanut33tillman @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 06:44 PM) http://www.sportsline.com/mlb/story/MLB_SC-RUMOR dont blame the messenger...just reporting what im seeing *yawn* old news.
  15. QUOTE(bulokis @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 06:43 PM) Bruce Levine said the Cubs are after Alfonso Soriano and if they get him, Soriano will play LF. LMAO, Soriano already said numerous times that he WON'T play LF. If they thought Dubois was a butcher in LF wait till they get a wiff of Soriano out there, assuming they can somehow convince him to play outfield.
  16. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 02:26 PM) I have to get my tickets. Are you shure that's a good idea?
  17. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 02:40 PM) No. His nickname is Punk-Ass Little b****.
  18. QUOTE(sircaffey @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 05:24 PM) Could you imagine the buzz if JR/KW got Manny? Incredible... I believe any trade would start with Rowand and BMac. They obviously are gonna want some major league talent for Manny. Rowand and Marte would be attractive to Boston. With Damon being a FA next season, Rowand could be their next CF. Red Sox need pen help and would love to have Marte especially with the release of Embree. If JR was willing to take on an extra 14 million (Rowand's & Marte's salaries subtracted and Boston picking up 6-7 million) would Rowand, Marte, BMac, and another prospect (Owens/Sweeney?) be a package Boston couldn't refuse? All this sounds like a strange situation and Manny likely won't be going anywhere, but it's interesting to discuss nonetheless... I don't think it would be enough. Even though they would never trade him to the us in the middle of the season: 1.) Boston won't pick up any of Manny's contract let alone $6M-$7M. 2.) Rowand, Marte, BMac, Sweeney/Owens. Is probably not enough. Try: Rowand, BMac, Marte, Anderson/Tracey + 1 low level spect. Manny is THE best hitter on the Red Sox and is a future HOF who is still putting up ridiculous numbers.
  19. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 05:23 PM) I like Overbay a lot. But I would choose Huff for a few reasons. 1. He strikes out less. I know this isnt a huge deal to some people, but it pisses me off when there is no contact. 2. More pop-I think we need a left handed bat that can drive it out into left field once in awhile. 3.More experience. They are the same age, but Huff has more big league experience and is showing in his slight increase in walks and decrease in GIDP There are several others as well, I like his GB to FB ration, and I like his doubles count, even though Overbay's is nice as well. All in all, either one is a great replacement for KOng. If there's one arguement you can't make for Huff over Overbay it's doubles poduction. Overbay is a way better doubles poducer than Huff. '04 2B Huff:27 '04 2B Overbay: 53 '05 2B Huff: 16 '05 2B Overbay: 21
  20. QUOTE(SpringfieldFan @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 05:16 PM) If I were KW, I guess I could always make an offer. I would have to require that Boston pick up 30% of his contract, that we give up no more than two full time starters and two top level propsects, and that Manny sign a clause that he must wear a uniform that fits him. SFF I don't see Boston picking up a penny of his contract or trading him to any AL contender if they do find some way to trade him which I don't see happening either. It would cost a lot for him player wise.
  21. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 05:15 PM) This bring up the question though, who would you rather have, Aubrey Huff, or Overbay? It's a wash in my mind. Huff is more expensive $ wise and prospect wise than Overbay but is a better all around player with more power. Huff can play OF as well as 1B/DH (I do not count him as a thirdbaseman). I'd say I'd rather have Huff but it's too close to call really.
  22. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 05:14 PM) it was sarcastic, I figured I didnt need the green. You never know.
  23. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 05:12 PM) Prince who????? If we get Overbay, good, but its not looking good right now. I think KW is looking towards Huff to settle that need. You've never heard of Prince Fielder? Cecil Fielder's son. One of the top prospects in baseball, major power.
  24. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 05:06 PM) The only team who would take him is the Yankees... Somehow I don't see that happening.. I must say the Cubs should seriously look into this, they have a s***load of talent in their Minor leagues and some good expendable ML talent. Manny would absolutely rake at Wrigley in LF for the Cubs.
