  1. That sucks if it is true. However I've heard this same thing about 15 times over the past couple days so I'm not convinced.
  2. QUOTE(daa84 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 09:09 PM) i dont think huff would be a 3b. i think everett would be pretty much the fulltime DH. then i think huff slides into everetts old role in which huff would spell pods, rowand (with pods in center) dye, konerko and maybe crede one day a week. maybe thats too much jockeying around with one player Um. No. If you're going to trade for Huff, he will be an everday player. He's better than Everett in everyway offensively just look at what he's done the past couple seasons. Everett would slide back into his old role.
  3. QUOTE(rangercal @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 09:09 PM) Thats exactly what Im thinking. Though, I would use him at 3rd on credes off days. I'd be reluctant to ever put him at third. He's worse than Ozuna and Pablo is brutal at 3B. Hell Lou Pinella banned him from playing third last season.
  4. QUOTE(daa84 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 09:02 PM) obviously, huff is certainly on teh block, overbay is almost certainly not I'm still not convinced that he won't be traded during the season. Talking to Brewers fan they really think it's a possiblity and they know more about their team than I do and more than some guy on ESPN or MLB.com does.
  5. QUOTE(rangercal @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 09:02 PM) Are you assuming Huff can't DH like Overbay? I really have no interest in Cantu. Huff however I do like as a DH/1B/LF not to be an everday thirdbaseman. How's that?
  6. Huff and especially Cantu can not play D on the left side of the field.
  7. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 08:56 PM) Three Words: "Fire Greg Walker" I know that won't happen though. Especially this late into the season. First time I've ever heard that said.
  8. Corpseball. bwahahaha :banghead
  9. He looked tired and didn't have his usually velocity today. HOWEVER. The best part of his outing today was that he showed that even if he doesn't have his best velocity he can still get people out. That slider is f***ing sick, as is the curve. Great outing. Today Bobby may have shown he deserves to be on this team for good including a possible spot on the playoff roster.
  10. QUOTE(rangercal @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 01:48 PM) NO. I'll take Huff. Huff would be awesome as long as you're not relying on him to be your everyday thirdbaseman. S
  11. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 01:33 PM) You can tell the brewers fan thanks for OUR all-star and possible MVP. Oh yeah, and 31 games over.... I'm confused why this guy is being met with such hostility, he hasn't insulted the White Sox at all and people talking s***, kind of odd.
  12. QUOTE(cragi @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 01:26 PM) I didn't say they got fleeced, I said from a brewer fan's perspective, they got fleeced. The Brewers were desperate to dump Pods in the offseason and were also desperate to acquire power. For that to happen, and to get an allstar out of the deal, was better than anything brewer fans could have hoped for. Obviously the trade worked out perfectly for both teams. Didn't someone already tell you to ignore him. I'd take that advice.
  13. QUOTE(ptatc @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 01:22 PM) The only way I put Politte in the deal is if we get Mota. Mota is a closer (protection for Hermanson +a closer for next year), Politte while good is pitching over his head and not a closer. Who has more career saves the career set-up man turned closer this year or the spot closer for the past 3 seasons Hermanson. Hermanson = 45 saves Mota = 7 saves Yeah Mota's more of a closer than Hermanson.
  14. This thread makes no sense. If the Twins or Indians win the WC that means will most likely either face the Angels or Red Sox/Yankees/Orioles in the first round.
  15. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 01:14 PM) You're next. LMAO, I'd like to see you try.
  16. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 01:09 PM) Cliff's not going anywhere if he did, I'd kill Kenny. You don't have the guts to go through with it.
  17. They've been saying all along that they weren't gonna move Burnett and now that they're starting to win it might be in their best interest to keep him. I say we're better off.
  18. I'm thinking a guy like John Patterson could pull it off. Kind of a no name with really good stuff.
  19. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 12:46 PM) I was focused on you calling PK and CE 'nothing of substance' and what that says about what you feel about this team. I think Everett and Konerko for us is more than enough, it would be 'nothing of substance' for the BoSox in a trade for one of the best pure hitters in the league.
  20. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 12:41 PM) Nothing of substance? If that's the case we are totally screwed and should be battling KC to stay out of the cellar. With what they have they wouldn't need Konerko. Plus Everett would not be going back to Boston. So if you're giving up that for Manny Ramirez it's not anything the Red Sox would be interested in. It's like someone saying they'll trade us a starting outfielder who isn't as good as any of the 3 we already have.
  21. QUOTE(Adam G @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 12:31 PM) Konerko and Everett? For Manny? LMAO. Just the fact that you would think Everett would ever go back to Boston is laughable. Not to mention the fact that it would make no sense for the Red Sox seeing how they would be recieving nothing of substance in return.
  22. QUOTE(OilCan @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 06:37 AM) 2) From a salary standpoint IMO, wouldn't Overbay save the Sox some money? Does anyone know what Overbay's salary is? If I'm the Brewers, I would ask for any of the following to make the deal happen: *Ross Gload, to take over 1b, or Paul Konerko if the Sox were willing to throw in some cash in the trade. *Casey Rogowski *Ryan Sweeney *Sean Tracey *Ray Liotta Overbay is making 446K this season and is protected for the next 2 seasons. Where as Konerko is making 8.75M and will be making 10+ in the FA market. The Brewers would have absolutly NO interest in Gload and especially Konerko. The only reason they would be willing to trade Overbay in the first place would be to open up the spot for Prince Fielder. Which also means they wouldn't want Casey Rogowski They could be interested in a Ryan Sweeney or Sean Tracey/Ray Liotta but more likely would want Brian Anderson/Brandon McCarthy, they're trading good major league talent and expect more polished, further along, higher touted prospects in return for thier starting fistbaseman.
  23. QUOTE(sin city sox fan @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 10:59 AM) I don't even want Marte traded. We all know how much Ozzie values using a lefty when it's a supposed advantage (an advantage that I believe is often overinflated).....so if Marte's not on the staff, it leaves Walker as the only option to replace him (unless we pick up another team's castoff like Embree who is equally as bad). Damaso is not the best reliever in the game....but he's still an effective left hander (a very valuable commodity in today's game). Ozzie has lost a lot of confidence in Marte seeing how he can't throw a f***ing strike to a lefty. Walker would not be called up if we traded Marte, KW would swing another deal and pick up a reliable Lefty (Villone/Eyre). KW is aware that Kevin Walker sucks and is not gonna let him see the light of day during the stretch run.
  24. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 12:01 PM) our need for someone who can contribute daily at 3B (not just the occasional clutch hit,0 far outweighs our need for a 1B this year. Give me Huff... But this means you want to get away from what has gotten us this far, our defense. Crede is f***ing stellar at third with the glove and is a big reason for a lot of runners not crossing the plate because of his defensive play. Huff is brutal at 3B that's why Pinella pulled him from third half way through last year and he's been playing OF/1B/DH exclusively since then. He's a huge step down from Crede with the glove. Give me Overbay, his left handed bat in the middle of this lineup would be huge.
  25. Manny is NOT getting traded during the season. This is like the 5th time he's demanded a trade, the Red Sox put him on waivers 2 years ago and found that NOONE is interested in him and his ridiculous contract. The only possibility would be him leaving in the offseason, no way in hell he gets dealt right before the stretch run.
