  1. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 11:41 AM) f*** Burnett. If the Marlins Gm want to be a little b**** about it and try to have everything his way, KW should make him kiss his ass. Go get Schmidt KW! You sound like a fool. Right now the Marlins are making a push for the playoffs, they're 4.5 out of the WC and 5.5 out of the division. Last year they kept Pavano all the way through the season to make a playoff run when they could have easily traded him and got something for him instead of losing him to Free agency in the offseason. To call Larry Beinfest a little b**** for trying to get what HE wants and not giving in and taking a lesser package for a player that he doesn't even have to trade is just stupid. He's in the position of power right now. Any Burnett deal should/will go through under his terms. Other teams Red Sox/Orioles/Tigers are more desperate to acquire Burnett than the Marlins are to dump him. And you don't like the price tag for Burnett but you think it's a good idea to go after Schmidt? Sabean's going to want more for Schmidt than Beinfest wants for Burnett. That makes NO sense. Beinfest is doing his f***ing job, he's trying to get what he wants for his player or he's not gonna trade him. To say he's acting like a little b**** just shows a lack of intelligence and a lack of maturity.
  2. QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 09:52 AM) i was at the brewers game yesterday and overbay hit a homer and singled, he seems to make contact and hit the ball better konerko but i still dont get where we would put him, and thats the problem when you have a full infield and everett also as a DH possibility. cragi was right brewers fans loved him there, every time he stepped up to the plate they all held up big O's or made one with their arms and kept saying O constantly. We could use another lefty power bat the only problem is where to put him and what to do when a guy like frank thomas gets back, i guess my only question is, can he play third or would we plan to put konerko at third like the padres putting nevin to catcher? Wow. I don't really know what to say. Are you a Cub fan? Konerko at 3rd? Talk about no f***ing range for your thirdbaseman. He hasn't played there since he was with the Dodgers. There's no way in hell he ever goes back. Overbay can't play 3B. If he could the Brewers would put him there. You don't just move players around like that, a player cant learn/relearn a position in the pinch. There's a good chance Frank's not coming back this year. Everett has been good for us, he would go back to his role of subbing at DH/LF/RF. Overbay would play 1B/DH and Konerko would play 1B/DH which ever they felt more comfortable with. Frank: DL Konerko: 1B/DH Overbay: 1B/DH Everett: sub DH/LF/RF
  3. QUOTE(rangercal @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 04:14 AM) AHHH we are being attacked by the pointless poster!!!
  4. QUOTE(forrestg @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 01:52 AM) San francisco giants Tomko could be available.. In the past he's been great in the 2nd half of the season he's 15 and 5 in the second half of the last two seasons with a 3.80 era. there's some trade rumors between the Phillies and Angels making inquiries. Are you high? Tomko talked so much s*** about A.J. There's no way in hell he's comming here ever. He can have fun in AAA for the Giants.
  5. QUOTE(whitesox91403 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 01:22 AM) Someone correct me if I'm wrong. But we traded gary Glover to Anaheim for Schoenweis in 2003. I think Scott Eyre was long gone before then. The Sox traded Scott Eyre to the Blue Jays for Gary Glover in 2002.
  6. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 11:24 PM) Meh, I am not putting any more speculation into these rumors. I will believe nothing until the deal is DONE. Does this mean you won't be posting until there's a trade?
  7. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 11:28 PM) Wait... Since when does Red Roof Inn have internet???? Or do you have a laptop with wireless internet? OMG
  8. QUOTE(chimpy2121 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 11:07 PM) Hotel near the ballpark? I cant believe you would think someone is lying about being at a game? Look at the source.
  9. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 11:00 PM) From everything I've heard out of the Brewers, Overbay never has been on the market. That doesn't mean that he won't be traded, though. According to some Brewer fans Overbay WILL be traded this year.
  10. QUOTE(PWSox87 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 07:25 PM) Is that because of when M.B. hit him? Thats too bad, he is a very good young player Travis Hafner is 28 years old. I wouldn't exactly call him a good young player.
  11. QUOTE(Winning Ugly @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 09:37 PM) I was checking box scores, and I saw this: Top 2nd: Cleveland - J. Liefer doubled to right center, B. Broussard scored, A. Boone out at home Jeff Freakin Liefer??? LMAO! I thought he was flippin burgers by now. Jeff Leifer was in the AAA allstar game. He's a very good AAAA player.
  12. I don't see why any team would want Borchard in any trade, I just don't see what value he has.
  13. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 05:18 PM) Toss him in the deal as an added incentive! GET RID OF BORCH! There's no need to just ditch Borchard, he's not costing us s*** at Charlotte. Just let him play there until the end of there year and part ways with him at the end of the season.
  14. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 05:14 PM) Agreed. Either way, we can trade on of the OF propects not named Chris Young and still have Young and Anderson/Sweeney to fall back on in the future. Shoot, KW should try to persuade Melvin to take Borchard..... Melvin's not retarded.
  15. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 05:14 PM) I think you should update your sig...... I will after the game tonight. I'm not really in the mood right now.
  16. My dream trade would be Sweeney and Tracey for Overbay. Though I do know that is unlikely I would be beyond happy if we could pull it off.
  17. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 05:05 PM) Here's another question: If we switched Brian Anderson and Bmac, would you do it then? Anderson/Marte for Burnett?? BMac/Tracy for Overbay?? Does it really make a difference? Burnett is not coveted unless there is an extension. I'd rather keep BMac than Anderson so if you're going to make a trade for Overbay I would perfer it be Anderson/Sweeney and Tracey for Overbay.
  18. QUOTE(JoeH33 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 04:28 PM) The only Brewer of note I really anticipate seeing traded anytime soon is Lyle. I can see this trade (if it happens) working out well for both sides seeing that Overbay is much more valuable as trade bait than he is sitting on the bench once Prince comes up for good. I'll admit I really dont know alot about many of the Sox prospects rumored to come to Milwaukee in this deal but if we could get a stud pitching prospect (McCarthy) and a long term solution at CF (Anderson) I'd be all for it. -Also I just wanted to mention that went down to Chicago over the weekend to see the Sox/Red Sox play on Sunday and had a great time at the Cell. Although I still like Miller Park better, I thought the large standing room area in the outfield was a really nice. One of my main problems with MP is that there really isn't much space to just hang out an watch the game if you dont feel like staying put in your seats the whole time. I love Miller Park. I wish the Cell could have a concourse like that. I love the Cell too but Miller>>Cell.
  19. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 04:26 PM) There is a guy named BallstwotheWalls or something along those lines that is conviced the only way the Brewers should do the trade is if they get Mark or Jon in the deal. That's exactly what I'm talking about. That's like asking for Harden or Blanton from the A's.
  20. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 04:25 PM) just like we don't know everything about every other team. Which is why I tend to not talk about another teams needs/players if I know absolutly nothing about them.
  21. I hate reading other teams message boards, they never know s*** about the Sox. I usually end up registering there and educating the posters. They don't always appreciate it.
  22. There's nothing right about this quote from some guy on a Brewers board. Appearantly KW is dumb, which is not true and appearantly McCarthy would be a part of the best rotation in the NL next year if he were traded for Overbay. The Brewers fans seem to want McCarthy and Anderson for Overbay.
  23. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 02:00 PM) Yea poor him.. :rolly FWIU both of his inlaws are deathly ill and his wife does not want to move, and he doesn't want to be without his wife and kids. A big reason he wanted the NT clause, which the Pads gave him. Sorry.. but I don't see the point in s***ting on a guy because of circumstances like that. But he has millions and millions of dollars. He could buy another wife and a couple more kids. Just because the guy makes good money doesn't mean he's not human. They gave him the no trade clause, if he wants to use it it's is right to use it.
