Sox still listening on Gavin
Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com reports that the Red Sox are still showing interest in a trade for Gavin Floyd. The Red Sox discussed potential trades for Floyd and John Danks during the Winter Meetings last month, but nothing came to fruition. However, Morosi reported on Tuesday that the White Sox are "still listening to offers" on Floyd. The 28-year-old right-hander is set to earn $7.5 million this season while his contract includes a $9.5 club option for 2013. There are only a couple of quality options left on the free agent market, so the White Sox could net a nice package of prospects from a team desperate to add a starter prior to spring training. 2012 MLB Catch All thread
According to MLB.com's Jason Beck, Victor Martinez suffered a torn ACL during winter conditioning and could miss the 2012 season if the injury requires surgery. Absolutely brutal news for the Tigers. Martinez had a .330/.380/.470 batting line with 12 home runs and 103 RBI in 145 games last season as Detroit's primary designated hitter. He also started 26 games at catcher. The Tigers will struggle mightily to replace his offense but might try to get a little more active on the free agent market if the 33-year-old is indeed going to miss the year. Free agent Carlos Pena seems like a decent fit. Rotoworld Big hit too Det lineup!

Official 2011-2012 NFL Thread
Colts fired head coach Jim Caldwell. It's a bit of a surprise in that the Indianapolis Star and a prominent Colts blog had both grown confident that Caldwell would be retained. Despite an offensive background, Caldwell's unit finished 30th in the NFL at just 286.8 yards per game without Peyton Manning this season. His game management skills have also left a lot to be desired. Caldwell's firing is yet another sign that the Colts are entering a full-blown rebuilding process. Learning a new offense is one of several factors that could push Manning and the Colts to cut ties Rotoworld

Should Lillibridge be in our everyday lineup in 2012?
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 16, 2012 -> 06:06 PM) Hell no. Brent Lillibridge with 550-600+ ABs in a season? That's no good. Say what you will about Ozzie - but he did right by Brent last year. 200-250 ABs tops is what a guy with his skill-set warrants. BL is a utility guy ONLY.............I agree.

With Kuroda and Pineda to NYY, does EJ for 1-2 years
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 12:26 AM) to the SOX become more and more likely by the minute? Assuming a Gavin Floyd trade for the prospects Williams/Hahn/Paddy are targeting...of course. (Also assuming that money isn't being held back for Cespedes). This eliminates the Yankees from the arms race, and brings the market of available guys down to Jackson and Oswalt, who some teams are looking at putting in the bullpen or limiting his starts. Arguably, Floyd would be more comfortable on the East Coast (Boston, maybe?) than E-JAX pitching in NY or Boston... http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-leag...MZwK752RMA5nYcB EJ is NOT coming back!

2011-2012 NHL Thread
Daniel Carcillo will miss the remainder of the season and playoffs due to an injured ACL in his right knee. Carcillo will have surgery to repair the damage. If there's a silver lining, it's that he should be fine for the start of the 2012-13 season. He suffered the injury because of how Edmonton's Tom Gilbert fell after being hit hard by Carcillo. Incidentally, Carcillo received a seven-game suspension for his actions and would have been eligible to return on January 18th. Rotoworld I think he is one and done with the Blackhawks.

2012 Cubs thread
QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 11:04 AM) I have this gut feeling that the Cubs are going to win it within 3 years. This year they might be competitive and either just miss, or even make the playoffs contrary to the popular consensus (that they're going to be garbage); but 2013 or 2014 will see a Cub WS winner. I kind of like it the way it is right now, and would rather keep it that way- but my gut feelings are usually pretty good. Scrubs suck here is too 100 more years of losing!

Sox sign Venezuelan pitcher prospect
QUOTE (CWSpalehoseCWS @ Jan 11, 2012 -> 02:53 PM) At 17, I think it's safe to safe he's a LONG ways away from making a difference. At least the Sox are spending more internationally. Long time coming!

Baseball America's Top 10 White Sox Prospects
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 11, 2012 -> 12:52 PM) This is an important year for him. That injury really set him back. Now the question will be, was that permanent or can he recover. It will be interesting to see where he starts out at. I agree with the injury part, but his strikeout ratio is awful.
