Bears signed WR Markus Wheaton, formerly of the Steelers. That'll fix it. The Bears have a concerning lack of quality depth after Alshon Jeffery bolted in free agency, and Wheaton is not the answer coming off an injury-riddled end to a disappointing career in Pittsburgh. The former third-rounder does have some theoretical upside, however, and is a fine dart throw. Kevin White and Cameron Meredith are currently the Bears' top two receivers. Mar 9 - 7:05 PM Source: Ian Rapoport on Twitter A dart throw lol.............Oh Mr. Pace

QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 9, 2017 -> 05:21 PM) wow, was out for 3 hours and worst fears of this offseason confirmed. If you were to run all the possibilities of this offseason in January how many had you with Bears losing Jeffrey for nothing, getting no top cornerback, and signing Mike Glennon as a starter Short of Myles Garrett suddenly falling to 3, this is the worst case scenario. Taking Jonathon Allen at #3 with 2 bad shoulders would be the cherry on top. Allen did have labral tears in both shoulders fixed over the course of his impressive career at Alabama. His left shoulder is moderately arthritic and the arthritis is similarly mild in his right.

QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Mar 9, 2017 -> 03:54 PM) I'm no Bears fan, but I get them not wanting to pay Jeffery franchise money. That's fine then where was Pace's plan B at WR the group now is not good.
-
QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Mar 9, 2017 -> 03:47 PM) They're thinking Alshon would have been too expensive and even for one year he's not worth $14 million. He's not Dez Bryant and he's even less durable. 40 million cap space unused and no #1 receiver just a group of misfit toys............McCaskey's and cheap will start back up soon. Get your PSL money sent in asap.

NFL Network just had a segment with Jeffrey's gone, they went through Bears WR's and do not know what management is thinking about with that group.
-
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 9, 2017 -> 03:21 PM) Maybe Pace thinks you can use leftover cap space to buy wins?? A QB who has not played in years and a 32 year old safety and another TE that can't play not going to cut it for a 3-13 team. Glennon numbers will not be as good as Hoyer's were in 2016. Fan base has to be disappointed today. Pace decision making not looking good in this FA period.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 9, 2017 -> 03:13 PM) That's it? Did the injuries scare everyone off from a longer deal? Injuries and Peds hurt him.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 9, 2017 -> 02:32 PM) Kevin White should be back for 2 or 3 games. LOL that is about right. He has to play and be productive in 2017 or it was a wasted pick.

If Groce is fired Illinois will after recruits meeting with new coach the option to leave. Illinois does not want the rep of not letting guys have option to leave that would effect future recruits for years.

Bears signed SS Quintin Demps to a three-year, $13.5 million contract. Going on age 32, Demps has been an NFL late bloomer who spent most of his early years playing special teams before emerging as an impact starter in Houston the past two seasons. A playmaker on the ball, Demps set a career high with six interceptions in 2016 and has forced a whopping 18 turnovers the past four years combined. He will slide in as a starter across from Adrian Amos. Source: Aaron Wilson on Twitter

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 9, 2017 -> 12:07 PM) Good. I wanted to stab myself in the chest with a fork when he was the starter last year. It was atrocious. You may feel the same after a couple of Glennon starts
-
Congrats Bears you outbid the Bears for Glennonby 4 million a year easily. Pace had too get a top CB and looks like he missed out. What a failure so far coming of a 3-13 year.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 8, 2017 -> 02:34 PM) Why, they aren't relevant to each other. Hoyer is going to SF to backup cousins, if Glennon comes to the Bears he will start. The money doesn't matter, the bears are gonna overpay but that is ok, they aren't cash strapped up against the cap. The only thing that matters is he guarantee Cousins to SF no sure thing, so If Hoyer starts it is comparable.
-
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 8, 2017 -> 02:21 PM) Brian Hoyer to the 49ers. I can't wait to see Hoyer and Glennon deals side by side.
-
Glennon is no better than Cutler this is a lateral move at best. 15 million for a guy nobody else was going after. no matter how the money is divided in contract this is a major reach and overpay.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 7, 2017 -> 04:45 PM) It's not overplaying your hand if keeping him to replace Brady is a viable option in their minds. If someone pays their price, great. If not, he waits behind brady Brady wants too play 3 or 4 more years, NE can't pay TB and JG top QB money to hang around after 2017.

NFL Network's Mike Garofolo suggested the Patriots are seeking two first-round picks in exchange for Jimmy Garoppolo. The Boston Herald previously suggested New England's asking price was a first- and second-rounder. Citing "someone somewhat connected to the situation," Garofolo speculated the actual cost would be a first-round pick in 2017 and another first-rounder in 2018. The Patriots have a ton of leverage in trade talks, and seem more than willing to keep Garoppolo if nobody bites. Source: Chris Wesseling on Twitter NE good luck with that, talk about over playing your hand.
-
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Mar 7, 2017 -> 02:40 PM) I'm not mad at it, as long as we can drop him no problem in future years. Key to me isn't the per year, it is the guaranteed money and cap implications going forward. We are in agreement just sign Hoyer as a place holder to overpay badly for Glennon makes no sense. Pace looking like a novice right now.
-
Pelosi says you got too pass the bill too know what's in it don't fret. Worked so well the first time.

CSN Chicago reports the 49ers, Jets, and Bills have all dropped out of the bidding for free agent Mike Glennon. We're not convinced the Bills were ever involved, while multiple reports elsewhere suggest the Jets were severely outbid by the Bears. Bay Area reports state the 49ers have "no interest" in Glennon at all. With only the Bears left to bid, it's possible Glennon's price tag drops below his expected $14-15 million annually. All signs continue to point toward Glennon landing in Chicago. Source: CSN Chicago Stop the 15 mil a year madness talk now Pace.
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 7, 2017 -> 08:45 AM) Glennon will be the Bears' next starting QB at about $15 million per. Glennon sucks. Worst part nobody. but Bears want him, Jets and SF not interested keep bidding against yourself Bears. 15 mil per year reported number no thanks. Another s***ty game manager QB should just sign Hoyer back IF that is what you want. Nobody can be happy or excited by this move. I am starting to question Pace as GM with this nonsense.
