CSN Chicago reports the 49ers, Jets, and Bills have all dropped out of the bidding for free agent Mike Glennon. We're not convinced the Bills were ever involved, while multiple reports elsewhere suggest the Jets were severely outbid by the Bears. Bay Area reports state the 49ers have "no interest" in Glennon at all. With only the Bears left to bid, it's possible Glennon's price tag drops below his expected $14-15 million annually. All signs continue to point toward Glennon landing in Chicago. Source: CSN Chicago Stop the 15 mil a year madness talk now Pace.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 7, 2017 -> 08:45 AM) Glennon will be the Bears' next starting QB at about $15 million per. Glennon sucks. Worst part nobody. but Bears want him, Jets and SF not interested keep bidding against yourself Bears. 15 mil per year reported number no thanks. Another s***ty game manager QB should just sign Hoyer back IF that is what you want. Nobody can be happy or excited by this move. I am starting to question Pace as GM with this nonsense.

White Sox Request Waivers on Lawrie
Sox got tired of playing games with Lawrie.

Update: Luis Robert has been cleared according to Rosenthal
Spend whole pool money on LR and not table scraps with no chance of ever making it to MLB. Sox need a splash especially in the rebuild mode, he can grow in minors with other guys.

Pats are willing to trade Garoppolo A league source told the Cleveland Plain Dealer the Patriots are willing to trade Jimmy Garoppolo "if the offer is right." This disputes a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter. "Everything is still on the table," a source told the Plain Dealer. It's notable that this would appear in a Cleveland paper, as the Patriots would likely be willing to do business with a quarterback-needy team they don't see as a threat. The Browns check both of those boxes and have the ammunition to satisfy New England's demands. The Plain Dealer thinks the Patriots "will want a first-round pick and more." Source: Cleveland Plain Dealer That did not take long to dispute.

Lopez and Kopech Starting Tomorrow 2/28
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 28, 2017 -> 03:30 PM) If people freak out about a guy who is 20 pitching in an early spring training game, they are nuts. No one expects Kopech to be even close to the big league roster at this point. If anything, I'd think people should be excited that he flashed some plus curves and obviously demonstrated that his velocity is real. Amen too that

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 28, 2017 -> 03:26 PM) At the very least I want to see them stay in the minors long enough to give us the extra full year of control. Yep no need to rush in 2017 on any of the new prospects.

Pedro Alvarez
Alvarez would be a worthless signing in 2017.

Rebuild hardest on JR
QUOTE (WBWSF @ Feb 25, 2017 -> 08:50 AM) I still think that this so called rebuild is as phony as a $3 bill. I think JR is going to trade off and not sign any real talent the team has. He will have the lowest payroll in MLB in 2018. He will then sell the team after the 2018 season. I'm hoping he'll sell the team before the 2018 season, but I think he will wait until after the season is over. This team has absolutely no positive direction. I've read where the most talented player coming out of Cuba is a 19 year old outfielder named Luis Robert. Virtually every team in MLB wants to sign him. The White Sox are probably the only team who have shown no interest in signing him. The farm system is barren of any every day outfielders. Robert would be a good signing for the team and yet they have no interest in signing him. After Cabrera leaves the White Sox after this season the White Sox will probably have the worse outfield in 2018 in MLB. Wouldn't Robert be a perfect fit for this team? I hope he sells soon it's been a long time coming.

Robertson to WASH was close, now at stalemate
Nationals manager Dusty Baker indicated Tuesday that the club is likely to trade Derek Norris after reaching an agreement with free agent catcher Matt Wieters. Baker said "there's always someone looking for a front line catcher." The Nationals apparently didn't feel secure enough with Norris as their primary backstop, but the feeling is that he'll end up playing elsewhere in 2017 rather than serve as Wieters' backup. The 28-year-old batted just .186/.255/.328 last season, but he's capable of better and he's owed just $4.2 million in 2017. He could draw some interest in the days ahead. Source: Chelsea Janes on Twitter Pass on Norris...............Sox are not desperate to trade DR.

2017 International Signings
QUOTE (raBBit @ Feb 21, 2017 -> 10:51 AM) It's pretty clear the Sox are much more inclined to get three or four notable guys as opposed to one big fish and maybe another guy or two that are notable. I am not sure it's the worst plan but the results aren't that promising. Doing it this way 1 out of 20 may pan out.
