  1. I know this is gonna sound dumb, but is it possible there is actually wind blowing in the stadium tonight? With Garcia's high early pitches and that high near-throwaway to second, it looks almost windy out there.
  2. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ May 9, 2005 -> 12:25 AM) I'd probably save Steven A. Smith too. The guy can be funny at times. But I do think they both make things entertaining. I agree... HOWEVAAAHHHH I still say sink em both down to Hell!
  3. In my league Buehrle was drafted as the last pick in the 8th round, right before I was gonna take him. I ended up picking Freddy next (1st pick, 9th round). Garland was the 2nd pick in the 20th round, and both Contreras and Hernandez were picked up off the wire on April 5th by the same manager. I think for the most part we've all been happy with our guys
  4. I agree with all the positive sentiments in this thread. Praise from the real experts, aka the players, is what counts the most. Nice to hear what David said about me ... err ... Mark
  5. You know, it's a shame that all of us out-of-towners only ever hear about the bad off-field things that happen at MLB games, like the idiot who attacked the first base ump and stuff like that. This is a great story that couldn't have been better if it happened to a Sox fan. The fact that it was in Toronto and it happened to a Jays fan makes it all the better. Stories like this need to be brought to the public more often. It's just too bad that most of the public only wants to hear bad things.
  6. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ May 7, 2005 -> 01:40 PM) Na, this team has a rule. It states that at least two hitters must be in a slump at any given time during the course of the season. Since JD and PK seem to be heating up, Crede is merely following orders and going into a little bit of a funk. Everett is also doing his duty. As I write this, Pods walks. Let's see another steal. I know, that is pretty annoying. On the upside though, I'd rather have staggered slumps and hot streaks than everyone streaking or slumping at the same time. It balances the team out. I'm just glad PK seems to be coming out of his slump finally.
  7. Just FYI, my username on another forum is "Googleman"
  8. QUOTE(YASNY @ May 7, 2005 -> 01:36 PM) Ottowa Sox ... you're from Canada. No fair! BuehrleTheAce .. Did you google that? Did I...whaaa??? Not a chance, really!
  9. QUOTE(YASNY @ May 7, 2005 -> 01:31 PM) A bit of between innings trivia ... Who is Doug Ault? What's special about him in Jays vs Sox history? On Opening Day in 1977, Ault hit this first home run in Blue Jays History off the White Sox Ken Brett. Ault hit another home run in the game and Toronto won the game 9-5.
  10. Just to add a little fuel to the fire, ESPN has no mention of the White Sox winning again, on either the front page or the MLB section. Discuss. (Boy do I like to stir the hornet's nest! )
  11. Oh, the White Sox won AGAIN??? *yawn* Same old, same old...what else is new? Go Sox!
  12. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ May 5, 2005 -> 08:13 PM) How do I e-mail this to someone without linking them to here? Not sure how to do that. THanks 1. Hold your cursor over the link until it turns into a finger 2. right click and select "copy shortcut" 3. CTRL-V into the body of an email message. That should paste the link in the email
  13. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 5, 2005 -> 07:26 PM) MUST WATCH THIS OMFG! Where the hell did that come from??? I actually found myself cringing for that guy...that was hilarious!
  14. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ May 4, 2005 -> 12:14 AM) If PK is supposed to slump in May, I'd hate to see it because his April was god-awful. Yea, tell me about it :puke
  15. Congrats Gooch, Buehrle, A-Row, and Shingo! Congrats to the White Sox for setting an MLB record (however obscure it may be): 26 games with a lead to start a season. Go Sox!
  16. IMO we're still winning. Ugly yes, sometimes, but still winning. Many of these guys are "temperature" hitters, meaning when the weather gets warmer so do they. A-Row has proved that throughout his short career and Pauly does too. Take a look at their summer numbers compared to their early numbers. As I mentioned in another thread, Pauly typically slumps in May then heats up in June, July, and August. A-Row did the same thing last year, but he was a month later. By the time summer comes along, the power of Pauly and A-Row will be on display and the Big Hurt will be back in the lineup. Depending on what Everett and Dye do in the intervening months, I think our offense will be just fine.
  17. NEVER call out the Gooch! Hmm actually, call him out more often cuz I like the results
  18. QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ May 3, 2005 -> 08:31 PM) Dye just got a hit!! I smell a streak coming on! ...of at least 1 game
  19. Kevin Brown gives up 6 runs on 8 hits, no BB, no K to Tampa Bay in the bottom of the first. Devil Rays lead 6-0. So much for shaking up the roster. Perhaps now they'll realize what everyone else knows - IT'S THE STARTING PITCHING STUPID!!!
  20. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ May 3, 2005 -> 07:38 PM) Is it wrong to be excited for Uribe's return and not for Dye's.... Like the druken uncle at family reunions, we're stuck with him!
  21. Right now I'd recommend Everett and Delucci. Del is either hitting homers or talking walks, so if your league tracks BB your set. He may cool down but he's been pretty damn good for a couple weeks now. Stewart is doing pretty good leading off for the Twins, but...he's a Twin for God's sake!
  22. QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ May 3, 2005 -> 07:12 PM) i wish i knew when paulie was gonna start hitting, then id know when to bench and or start him on my fantasy team, hopefully he starts rocking the royals pitchers and gets in a groove, im happy with one hit Yea but it is quite a letdown from 7 homers in two weeks huh? :headshake
