Game over! Glanville Ks. Sox win 9-8 (s/b 9-6).

You honor me, southsider-san. Aaaand, Shingo just made this game a WHOLE lot more interesting, from a Philly perspective! :banghead :banghead :banghead

I'm at work so I'm trying to follow the game online when I can. I just wanted to say I wanna have Aaron's man-babies, in a purely heterosexual way, mind you. Actually this whole team is a bunch of gamers today. I love how they've kept fighting and battling back today. Makes me proud, but also makes me angry to wonder where this drive and determination has been the past couple of months.

SS - Nomah 3b - Aramis Ramirez Pitcher - Carl Pavano Utility Player/DH - Kevin Millar Utility/LF/DH - Reuben Sierra or JD Drew RF - I want to see Maggs back but if not, Jermaine Dye or Matt Stairs The team would look like this: Pitching - Mark, Freddie, Jose, Carl, Jon G Setup - Marte Closer - Armando Benitez First Base - Pauly Second Base - Willie, Juan Shortstop - Nomar Third Base - Aramis Ramirez Left Field - JD Drew Center Field - Aaron Rowand Right Field - Jermaine Dye Catcher - Ben Davis Utility - Reuben Sierra (OF), Kevin Millar (OF) That gives us solid pitching, along with power and speed. Paul, Juan, Aramis, Aaron, Jermaine, and Reuben can all hit for power, and Willie, Juan, Nomar, JD, ad Aaron can run the bags. Mind you, I have no delusions of ever seeing this happen, but the question was "Which Free Agent(s) do you want to see on the southside next year".

Sunday 8/29 - going for a tie vs. the Tribe!
BuehrleTheAce replied to BuehrleTheAce's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Well unfortunately my foreshadowing title prediction came true. I don't know if it has anything to do with me making the game thread but I won't be upset if I'm banned from making another one any time soon -
Sunday 8/29 - going for a tie vs. the Tribe!

Just goes to show what this team's been doing lately. At first I thought it was 2-1, but for some reason as I was typing I was thinking it was 1-2. Ominous foresight perhaps? :banghead -

Wow no game thread yet, I guess I'll get it started. Let's do this Sox, get a 2-2 series tie vs. the Indians!

At least it was longer than a Loaiza lead
-
Final 14-9 Sox win. Of course you know what that means for the rest of the series.

Sox win + Tribe loss + Minn loss = pleasant night's sleep

Who is the best Center Fielder in the AL?
BuehrleTheAce replied to maggsmaggs's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Rowand is making $340,000 this year. Here are all the White Sox contracts for 2004 and their contract status over the next 4 years. Values listed are broken up by cap hit and actual payroll for the year. Amounts are based on $1, so multiply values by 100,000. dugoutdollars.blogspot.com/2003_12_28_dugoutdollars_archive.html -
According to an article on whitesox.com KW is focusing on pitching now and for the future, hence his acqusitions of Garcia and Contreras, and then signing Garcia to a 3 year deal. They covet Randy Johnson but it's very unlikely he'll waive his no-trade clause to come to Chi-town because he only wants to go to a strong contender. Look for KW to make a strong push for at least one more starting pitcher to complement Buehrle, Garcia, Contreras, and Garland. I also expect a front-line setup man and possibly a closer (or closer-to-be). He's said he refuses to pay Maggs the 5 year, $70 million that he's asking for, but depending on how his knee progresses, would consider signing him to a deal for $8-$10 million per year. He refuses to invest too much money in one player with a now-questionable health record and sacrificing in other areas. Pitching is his focus now, and IMO as it should be.

Well if it isn't his philosophy, then he sure does stink at getting them to buy into whatever he's selling. Coaching is more than just having a method, successful implementation (read: buy-in) is just as important.

Swing for the fences and f*** the rest?

You guys are lucky. I wish I could get in on some of that free giveaway stuff at The Cell. But it's kinda hard to do that living in NY :banghead

White Sox Send Cliff Lee Into Downward Spiral
BuehrleTheAce replied to 3E8's topic in Pale Hose Talk
How about THIS luck: I picked up Carlos Guillen as a free agent in BOTH of my leagues, and Pavano as a FA in one of the two, and Carpenter, Rogers, and Milton as FAs in the other I did however draft Mussina, Lowe, Rafael Soriano, and Garcia and dropped them all. I think my pickups were pretty good replacements. I'm pissed I dropped Garcia because I also have Buehrle in the same league and that would've been a sweet pair. -

Corky homered for the Cubs. 2-1 Philly leads. :fthecubs
-
End of the 6th, ChiSox lead 5-1. Rowand, Perez, and Lee up in the top of the 7th. Top of the third, BoSox tied with Minny 1-1. McCarty, Kapler, and Damon up for Boston.
-
Twinkies are down 1-0 bottom of the 2nd. Cabrera hit a homer in the top of the first in his first BoSox at-bat.
-
Freddy is lights out. 5 IP, 1 hit, 5 Ks, 1 W, 71 pitches. Only hit was an Inge homer in the bottom of the third.
-
I absolutely agree. Instead of a single run lead (which has been rare as it is), we start out early with a 3 run lead. Add to that Bonderman goes down early with an injury and the team takes advantage of the situation. Still, the bunting and baserunning leave a lot to be desired, but it hasn't stopped the team from scoring 2 more runs after the homer.
-
It is simply amazing what the changing of the month does to this team. Through 4.1 innings the Sox have 9 hits, one homer, and a 5-1 lead. Simply incredible.
-
It's been quite a while since the Sox have had more than a 1 run lead. To have a 3 run lead? Boy, I'm gonna have to go back to game logs from a long time ago! August is treating the Sox well so far!
