  1. 1st and 3rd with no outs an NL 2.0 gives up an out on a squeeze. This is why crooked numbers are hard to come by with our team. We have to overcome our handicap.
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 07:42 PM) I don't think so. I hope not. Omar is way too old to play this much. And Pierre is too bad to play this much.
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 07:39 PM) Gordon's had 2-3 days off. It's obvious what Ozzie is doing. Giving him the dreaded 3 days to clear his mind, etc. Or taking a long look at Omar as a starter.
  4. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 07:35 PM) Unfortunately I can't think of a single player he could replace in this roster of all stars. Has he stolen a base tonight. Has he bunted. Old Timey baseball matters. Guillen made a silly comment a year or so ago with Rios about how he would rather have him steal 50 bases than hit 50 homers. That's some old school crazy baseball thought right there.
  5. QUOTE (SoxFanForever @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 07:27 PM) Nice play by Lexi. How much worse does Pierre have to play to get shipped out of here realistically? Ozzie see's 2003 Marlins O with Pierre and Omar up top. There is nothing that can change that.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 04:44 PM) Miguel Cabrera and Starlin Castro are 2 different beasts. Oh I know. I find it funny that we are worried about pitching to Starlin Castro when we have gone after much more prolific hitters late in the game.
  7. QUOTE (tonyho7476 @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 10:13 AM) I was sitting in the stands last night, and as soon as Gavin threw the wild pitch...I said, 'Ok, now walk Castro'. Why would you pitch to this kid, who has been very good, with the worst 3rd place hitter in baseball, in the on-deck circle. Of course he was going to get a hit. 1st base was open. What the f*** Ozzie? Well the answer to your question is the same one when people asked, "Why did we just pitch to Miguel Cabrera or any other slugger who destroys us with a base open." The magic 8 ball is a fickle cat, its wisdom however is beyond question. Your logic is not welcome here move along, nothing to see here.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 01:43 PM) And there is no one, not even me, complaining about this. Plus it gives Ozzie his dual slappy guys who can hit from the left side with righties on the mound. Its like a flashback 2003 Marlins-a-poluza. I figured Oz ejaculated when he came up with this lineup. Extra slappy, more bunts and more old timey NL style baseball.
  9. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 08:59 AM) I obviously have no proof of this, but I'm pretty sure Ozzie would sit Viciedo just to spite Williams if Pierre were DFA'd. Then you fire the manager and move on.
  10. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 20, 2011 -> 10:43 PM) Kenny is definitely putting this squarely on Ozzie, and I love it. I dont love it. Pull f***ing rank. Release Pierre and bring up Viciedo. Dont let a guy who has put guys like Wise, Kotsay, and Pierre in positions to generate outs at the top of the lineup.
  11. Ozzie says he is going to run people more because he feels we are grounding into outs a lot. So get ready for NL 2.0 and his managerial prowess as we generate outs instead of offense.
  12. QUOTE (kapzk @ Jun 20, 2011 -> 10:18 PM) Winning the series is still in our favor... got Mark tomorrow who's great in interleague games and Peavy on Wednesday who absolutely owns the Cubs throughout his career. Well it depends. Is our manager going to handicap our team with 2003 Marlins ball with Pierre and Omar up top. We need to score more than the other team to win.
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 20, 2011 -> 10:15 PM) That is amazing. And all those Sox fans have to be pretty damn pissed at wasting that money. Only way I could see that being fun is taking a niece or nephew or son or daughter to that game and just enjoying baseball and pretending the outcome doesn't matter in front of the wide eyed youngsters who love baseball for the right reasons. Taking a kid to a cross town game is a risky adventure. This is amature hour where drunks with beer muscles want to fight you because their team is losing or you happen to wear opposing gear.
  14. Rongey just said that Zambrano had a rocky start, then got nasty. What f***ing game was he watching.
  15. QUOTE (Yoda @ Jun 20, 2011 -> 09:56 PM) This only hurts more because we're playing the Cubs. But seriously, only 3 runs and that coming in the 1st inning?! It hurts because its a crappy NL team that we should beat. It hurts because its the worst pitching staff in the majors and we only score 3. It hurts because Juan Pierre burns my eyes.
  16. Hawk if Pierre's last thing he is looking for is a slider from Marmol, then he needs to retire. Juan Pierre makes the final out. Meanwhile Viciedo keeps hitting in AAA.
  17. Why the f*** is this guy up with 2 men on and power needed. Are you f***ing kidding me. Pierre.
  18. QUOTE (mcgrad70 @ Jun 20, 2011 -> 09:49 PM) Anyone else sick of listening to Hawk rave about Starling? I bet there's cork in his bat. Well we might have our own Castro if we didnt have guys taking money instead of signing talent.
  19. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 20, 2011 -> 09:40 PM) There is a second half to this season and things can turn around quickly Take a gander at our 2nd half numbers during the Guillen years. Because I know when I think of second half teams, I think of the whitesox.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 20, 2011 -> 09:30 PM) Looks like a pretty sad effort by Gavin. It's too bad cubs didn't sign Dunn like he wanted I am convinced if he was with a different organization, he would be hitting normal. He has hit his entire career, he comes here and just goes to s***. There is something too it.
  21. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 20, 2011 -> 09:26 PM) If Zambrano was honest he'd say it was his easiest challenge of the year, save for Paulie of course. Paulie is a true hitter; everybody else, ha. "Not a lot of teams are as aggressive one through nine as they are," Blackburn said. "They're all up there hacking, and that's pretty much what you're getting used to when you know you're about to face the White Sox." That tells the story. We are a hacking swing as hard as we can offense that doesnt make a lot of contact and prays for center cut fastballs. If a team pours in fastballs on pitch one and then throws crap into the dirt they will beat our guys.
  22. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 20, 2011 -> 09:25 PM) Thanks to whomever jinxed us by saying the Cub lineup was a joke. Floyd's was s*** tonight. Our team turns joke lineups and terrible pitching staffs into the best they can be.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 20, 2011 -> 09:22 PM) If we grab a young guy for Danks and convince Cooper not to leave, this team can still be back next year. He will trade Viciedo, because its our biggest splash of talent and gets the most bang for our buck. He will go for a name, a name that will draw fans. A vet. Not young players. He will trade Jackson, and get a small pidence. He will look to move Danks in the offseason. He is not a FA yet.
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 20, 2011 -> 09:17 PM) If his job is on the line, isn't that the logical move for him? Oh its logical for him. Each year he burns the farm down to go for his small percentage all in he kills the franchise a bit more for long term success. The economics of a medicore team, poor attendance, and a high payroll with large unmoveable contracts turns us into the cubs for a few years.
