QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 21, 2009 -> 09:14 PM) I guess Thornton's a LOOGY now. Thornton should be our 8th inning guy. Yet our manager thinks for some reason because he is a lefty, he can only face lefty batters. Meanwhile can march a parade of fail out of the bullpen, but at least they have a right dominant hand.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 21, 2009 -> 09:10 PM) The Tigers schedule isn't exactly easy next week either. They dont drop their drawers to crappy teams like we do. We specialize in making horrible pitchers look great. Example A is tonight. Guthrie is going to bookend 5 Ls with 2 awesome starts against our team. This is a guy who pounds the zone with fastballs. There is no reason we dont rock him.

QUOTE (tommy @ Aug 21, 2009 -> 08:46 PM) Does anyone think average third baseman gets to that hit by Reimold ? Gordon seems to have no range. He is not a third baseman. He is doing a good job of being out there. But there is some first step moves that take thousands and thousands of ground balls to get the muscle memory down. Hopefully he is our 2nd baseman next year and we pick up a third baseman.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 21, 2009 -> 08:41 PM) if we're in 3rd place leaving minny after this road trip, a dog will be kicked. Minny is not a good team this year. Their pitching is not dominant. Only by willing it by believing in Dome Goblins and boogeymen do we lose like crazy there. If I hear, only in the dome I will vomit. If you play good baseball and hit within your means you can win up there. If you try and park everything, kick the ball around, and sulk before the first pitch because of goblins and boogeymen then you will get pwned.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 21, 2009 -> 08:39 PM) 2nd time we completely BLEW at the first and second, no outs situation... Beckham had a great chance to score a run but hit into DP and Nix had runners on with 2 outs and FAIL FAIL FAIL I just wonder if this knack for hitting with RISP will ever come to the White Sox this year, like we had in the first 90 games in 2006 and also in 2005, the belief we would/could always come back (especially at home) and that we could beat any team's closer and bullpen as well Well if we had a belief that runners could score without fireworks maybe we could put together a rally. But getting guys picked off, and warning track power is what has been a formula for August crappy baseball.

QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Aug 21, 2009 -> 08:31 PM) true, but the sox wouldnt even be close to where they are without him Well maybe he can turn off the stupid for a while and stop getting picked off. Having a great hitting season will look great for his baseball card, but killing rallies by losing track of those pesky infielders will get him an early offseason.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 21, 2009 -> 08:20 PM) Sometimes you just gotta tip your cap to a pitcher like Guthrie. The fact that we got pantsed the last time we faced the Tigers and the Twins pretty much dictates that we need to start sweeping some of these bad teams. Taking 2 of 3 is going to get us 2nd place. Because there will come a time when we will lose a series with our tough road ahead. The lack of urgency that our team has with the finish line coming up is embarassing. They need to start to put it out there, and start to put together a run we are going to have problems. There is an environment of we always have tomorrow with our players. Well if they keep thinking that, they will have that tomorrow in October when they pick up their golf clubs.

Funny enough Pods was on the radio a few days ago talking about how he has to balance being aggressive with being reckless. Yet once again he kills a rally by pulling a boner. Getting picked off at 2nd when you are looking at the 2nd baseman creeping is beyond stupid. We need to keep from wasting opportunities. Also Dye needs to be removed from the 3 hole. Ozzie waited to pull Everett from the 3 hole in 05. Time to move Quentin in there and move Dye down.

Who here is happy Uribe's not on the team anymore?

QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 21, 2009 -> 03:38 PM) His defense alone would have won this team a couple of games. In reality, at what point do you think Gordon Beckham would of been up this year. The only reason he was brought up was due to the fact that we had a hole at 3rd and not viable options. Maybe he comes up now with the Getz injury. -

No matter what your views are on Uribe. The person that would of been affected the most would of been Beckham. Uribe would of been option number 1 to replace Fields at 3rd with Ozzie. -

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Aug 20, 2009 -> 03:44 PM) Yea, but we don't have Clete Thomas. I also noticed that when they did get a rally. The guy on third base didnt get picked off either. -

And there is the walkoff single. We face the Mariners. And their pen looks like the second coming of the Reds nasty boys. The Tigers face them with their offense and poof they score runs. Maybe our guy can start to get their heads out of their asses when we go down, and stop trying to go hero on every pitcher. Nibble away nibble away and you can come back. -
