  1. Typical sox, worrying about their pose at the plate when they park the pitch instead of playing good team baseball, making contact and winning. At least Beckham hasn't sucked down the poison of corpseball.
  2. Dewayne Wise had a hell of a catch last Thursday. He however is a terrible major leaguer and should be out of the league right now. Only on this team is a crappy player like that assured of a spot. At least Omit had some talent. This guy has none.
  3. QUOTE (Baines3 @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 09:39 PM) I will be glad to see the Twins leave the Metro Dome. We have enough loses in that place. I will be glad to see when we get a fundamentally sound baseball team that knows how to play baseball.
  4. More of the same. Kick the ball around a bit, walk some people, swing for the fences, and hit nothing. When play 2 of your rivals and you drop 5 out of 6 kicking the ball, you don't deserve to be in the race. Typical late July early August choke job by the sox.
  5. QUOTE (WCSox @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 03:00 PM) Not this season. Dye is out-slugging him, yet Dye is hitting 3rd. Explain that one. Your 2 hole hitter is usually your best handler of the bat. Best contact ratio, best ability to hit to all fields Because your 3 hole hitter is usually your best hitter. Your Cleanup guy is your best power guy.
  6. QUOTE (WCSox @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 02:24 PM) Honestly, I'd rather put A.J. in the two-hole. He's hitting well this year, and did pretty well hitting second last season. Beckham would be forced to change his approach at the plate if he were moved up to 2nd (taking more pitches, fouling off more balls). I'd rather keep him in the bottom third of the lineup for now. AJ has a .329 OBP and doesnt exactly see a ton of pitches. I dont understand why anyone would think he is a good choice for the 2 hole. He was the tallest midget for the 2 hole last year. Beckham already sees enough pitches, hits to all fields and is a gap to gap doubles hitter. He is by far the best choice for the 2 hole right now, and should grow into a 3 hole hitter. Pods is not the super fast base stealer from the first half of 05. So its not like he has to hold back why Pods steals a base. Beckham has enough bat control and the ability to hit to the right side to hit and run and work on contact plays.
  7. QUOTE (BobDylan @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 05:07 AM) I don't give a s*** what a DoS attack is. Blocking the site, which didn't do the DoS attack itself (as far as I know), doesn't solve the issue, does it? You just don't go around and punish people who have AT&T internet because a few people banded together and did something stupid. That's ridiculous. It's an ugly path they're walking down and I'd hate to see other companies follow them. Thankfully it appears that AT&T only temporarily blocked the site. The attack was sourced from img.4chan.org, which is the same IP that houses www.4chan.org. This is why it got blocked. And I hate to break it to you, but this is normal operating procedure to deal with attacks on the internet, especially DoS attacks. Someone sends an abuse request to the ISP, they investigate, and then take the node offline if there is evidence of malicious behavior. If I started to attack one of my competitors, my ISP would probably take me offline temporarily, contact me as the abuse contact to investigate my site for evidence of compromise or to eliminate the threat. Once this happened, they would bring my connection back up online. Hell, when we got an IP address block from one of our ISPs, the previous owners of the block were on a blacklist and we couldnt get ourselves off of it. We had to change IP addresses so we could operate on the internet properly. And yes a single person, or a few banded together that does something stupid can affect you and your company and your website. Their DNS records for 4chan img.4chan.org. 0 IN A 208.69.36.130 www.4chan.org. 0 IN A 208.69.36.130
  8. QUOTE (BobDylan @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 09:31 PM) That's not really what 4chan is. It's just something that they happened to do. They don't claim to be scary in any regard, nor do they make it a habit to target companies or specific people. It's just a showing of what a large social site can do when they all group together. Reddit.com has pulled some tricks of the same ilk. If the site is launching a DoS attack, its beyond just a group getting together as a social site for a common cause. It doesn't matter that they target a specific company or people. When they fling packets into the dark abyss, everything on its path is affected. That affects other companies as well as other entities. Internet traffic for the most part, passes from ISP to ISP via peering agreements. So when they wind up and throw their packets to the wind at ISP B, they might traverse 3 ISP hops and affect the transit routers and other customers as well.
  9. 1.) That leathery thing on either your left or right hand is for catching the ball. It is not a hat. 2.) When throwing the ball to a person wearing the same uniform as you, remember to try and aim the ball so it hits the glove. Bouncing it, kicking it, throwing it over the players head is not part of the equation. 3.) The club like thing is a bat, you swat it at the ball thrown by the man on the hill. 4.) There are no ghosts, boogeymen, or scary things at the Metrodome. Its like Walmart, including the pumped in sound effects. Try not to become the self fulfilling prophecy of suck. Try hitting the ball, catching the ball, and running around the bases. It is okay to hit past the 4th inning.
  10. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 09:33 PM) 5 to go, although the park didn't do us in tonight. The park had nothing to do with Alexei taking throws off tonight. Or Konerko not making scoops. The turf plays true on hops like that.
  11. Same script every year. We beat up on them a bit at home, then we go into the ASB. We come out, and our backsides pucker up and we press. Go to the dome, kick the ball around, score early on a dong or two and then give up hitting for the rest of the game. Same thing year in and year out. Catch the f***ing ball, hit the f***ing ball. We are a self fulfilling prophecy of suck up there.
  12. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 12:11 PM) AT&T HQs can be expecting a lot of pizza deliveries today. I doubt it. They are going to be too busy at Blackhat in Vegas playing spot the fed, driving in the cannonball run, attack and defend and other associated "hacker" games. I will be at the same conference hopefully getting some more info on malware analysis.
  13. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 11:03 AM) Depends on how you view history. Are we talking 100 years, 1,000 years, 100,000 years or 100,000,000 years. Most ape and chimpanzee diets are comprised of fruits and vegetables. You generally dont see silver back gorillas hunting down gazelles. Chimps like to eat meat.
  14. QUOTE (rangercal @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 09:49 AM) For those who don't know, 4chan started LOL Cats, Rick Rolling and made Chocolate Rain Popular. They are also a group that started "Anonymous" and were behind in hacking Sarah Palin's email account. http://stormen.wordpress.com/2009/07/27/att-blocks-4chan/ My take..... I don't agree with everything 4chan stands for, but this seems like a step towards net neutrality. Who is to say a site like Soxtalk will exist 20 years from now? Nonetheless, this story should get VERY interesting. 4chan is the last site you want to mess with. *grabs popcorn* f*** Net Neutrality. Any site that is either affiliated or responsible for hacking/malware/phishing/crap should be blocked. And 4Chan's pub makes them more scary than they really are. A Russian Botnet, or Chinese malware with a vm kicker is a hell of a lot more scary than some mopes dressing up and protesting who use a social engineering attack on another mope who ran for VP.
  15. Ireland's national sport is Gaelic Football. Which is like Aussie Rules football, except they use a round ball. They play a combined rules match every few years. Ireland beat Australia in the last tourney. Previously, Australia won.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 25, 2009 -> 06:52 PM) He was 96-97 today. Thats a hot gun in Detroit.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 25, 2009 -> 06:51 PM) There's clearly some mental crap going on with this team right now. This team has a history of getting tight near the end of July and August. It used to happen frequently with games against the twins. We hit a home run early. Then cant hit with men on base. It sets up for late game heroics. And we leave with a frown. This offense plays well when its free and easy. We are the offensive equivalent to Javy Vazquez. When the pressure is off, we bomb the crap out of people. The minute the pressure gets going we pucker and start to press. We got over this in 2005, but only after we woke up in September. We nearly did it last year, thank god the Twins wanted to outsuck us.
  18. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jul 25, 2009 -> 06:44 PM) George Sherrill anyone? I do not want to burn our prospects on bullpen help, or some dream of winning the whole thing this year. This team is incredibly flawed. As bad as Bobby has been, our offense and our defense has been just as bad. Ditching Flowers and other associated talent for this would set our franchise back quite a bit.
  19. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 25, 2009 -> 06:29 PM) A.J. called a really bad game today. He called inconsistent pitches to Granderson. Granderson was 0-2 three times and he ended up reaching base all three times. This was one of the worst games we've played all year. It may be the dagger. If Detroit sweeps us, we're f***ing done considering we have to go to Minnesota right after. Buehrle's perfect game may have been the WORST thing to happen to this team. It has lost all of its focus. It's playing like s*** defensively and hitting like crap with RISP. BTW, did anybody think the ball Granderson hit was foul? It sure looked foul on the angle Fox showed it. No it wasn't inconsistent. He called the same pitch 2 times in the same situation and got beat on it with men on. Whomever has a scouting report that Granderson gets beat on high fastballs with 2 strikes needs to try again. Gavin gets to 0-2, and AJ calls a high fastball. Bobby gets to 0-2, AJ calls a high fastball.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 25, 2009 -> 06:25 PM) Seriously, did the Tigers hit a ball hard all day? The Twins didn't hit the ball hard against us in previous years as well. Same result.
  21. Nice f***ing job Sox. Enjoy your golf in October.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 25, 2009 -> 06:19 PM) Hanging sliders, here we come. Can someone go kidnap Dan Hudson so KW won't even consider trading him? Basically we have dropped out pants and inserted our head for 3 games here. This is something we used to do with the Twins. Kick the ball around, no hitting, and late inning struggles by the pen. Hopefully we keep on the plan to transform this team in the offseason.
  23. I blame Jenks for not shaking off AJ who was scared to call the curve with a man on third in the 9th.
