  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 24, 2009 -> 07:42 PM) He's thrown 77 pitches and is at a quality start, and has had seemingly less help than the other guy has had. So you trot him out against the Yankees next week based on this, a successful start?
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 24, 2009 -> 07:40 PM) That 1-2 pitch was not too high. Dear Mr Gorman. This is the strikezone.
  3. You have got to be f***ing kidding me. He is back out there.
  4. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Jul 24, 2009 -> 07:36 PM) Holy hell Paul, do you plan on contributing anytime soon on offense? They are looking for center cut fastballs. This guy throws slow moving junk.
  5. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jul 24, 2009 -> 07:33 PM) I thought everyone said we were gonna shell this guy? You figure with crappy stuff, bad location, and the fact that we have seen him before and have hit him. That all signs pointed to yes.
  6. QUOTE (hawkubes @ Jul 24, 2009 -> 07:32 PM) He's been solid all year defensively, and he's been more than good the past 2 games, if Castro catches the ball, the Sox are still up because of Wise's defense. Did you think he was solid last year as well.
  7. With this guys stuff, we should have at least 6 runs up right now.
  8. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Jul 24, 2009 -> 07:29 PM) f*** you guys are harsh as s***. If you woulda told me he'd only give up 3 ER in 5 IP I'd have been great with that coming off the DL at Detroit. Our f***ing offense needs to pick it the f*** up. Do you trot him out next week against the Yankees based on this performance.
  9. QUOTE (hawkubes @ Jul 24, 2009 -> 07:27 PM) What is all this? Wise is playing spectacularly defensively, isn't that what everyone's been saying is needed from our 4th outfielder? 2 games of playing good defensively overpower him sucking in the field for the year. I see how the formula goes.
  10. I would rather give Torres these starts instead of watching this. This is the result of him working for a few weeks? This is bad.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 24, 2009 -> 07:23 PM) Hawk is getting pretty pissed off about Bartolo. There really should be someone up in the pen. There is nothing good about his pitching tonight. Every breaking pitch, he completely slows his motion down. It doesn't look fluid. The wheels on this bus are about to come off.
  12. Castro drops the ball and the run scores. Nice. The third time through the lineup should be fun for Colon.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 24, 2009 -> 07:16 PM) Sweet, we keep giving away outs. Pods shouldn't be waiting until there are 2 strikes to try and steal. We must lead the AL in giving away outs on the basepaths because we think we are an NL team.
  14. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 24, 2009 -> 07:12 PM) He said that? Although we shoulda known he woulda been playing all day after yesterday. In the pregame, Farmer stated that Ozzie wanted to start getting Wise more ABs and wanted to have him play both games. We live in a bizarro reality where Wise has some fancy value. We didnt want to put him on waivers, because we were worried that someone was gong to pick him up. What team outside of Newark would say, god that Dewayne Wise is something I need for my team. But he made a catch. So he is here as long as he wants to be.
  15. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 24, 2009 -> 07:12 PM) wise = worthless? too soon? No, he made a catch. The catch doesn't change the fact that he can't hit at all.
  16. Dewayne Wise first pitch hunting popup to 2nd. Glad Guillen said he wanted to get him more ABs. f***
  17. Guillen goes down swinging. Okay, now lets get some runs.
  18. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 24, 2009 -> 07:06 PM) rather see one in guillen's ear Keep the ball away from Guillen.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 24, 2009 -> 07:04 PM) Where the hell was that pitch to Cabrera? Shouldn't have even been in question. He didn't throw it 3 inches below the knee where Gorman wants it. It would be nice if our umpires actually called the zone that is defined in the rulebook. Instead of this mystery zone of who is umping that day, and how they feel.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 24, 2009 -> 06:59 PM) Beckham roped that ball but Inge made the nice play. I don't understand why they don't hit-and-run every situation they can with Getz on and Beckham batting. He is saving his hit and run calls for non contact guys like Wise.
  21. As opposed to the minor league double play? Its a ball hit pretty much to the 3rd baseman Hawk. It wasn't a spectacular play.
  22. We need to sweep the leg here on Bonine. He is a mediocre pitcher with nothing as far as an arsenal. No bunts, no hit and runs with non contact guys. Just concentrate and square it up.
  23. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jul 24, 2009 -> 06:22 PM) Nice job failing in the hit and run Wise. Why would Guillen even call that for him? Does he assume Wise can make consistent contact? That catch obviously gave Wise superpowers, because thats the only reason we are hitting and running in the American League with less than 2 outs and men at the corners.
  24. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 24, 2009 -> 03:06 PM) 2) The "bad" Contreras is back again....KW really should add another starter (5th) as insurance. Are you for real. He was fine. He got hurt only when he dropped down 1 too many times. Outside of that he was fine. He ran out of gas at the end, and should of been out of the game. With Colon pitching tonight, you figure guillen wants to keep the pen use to a minimum.
  25. QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Jul 24, 2009 -> 03:02 PM) Dude, it wouldn't be so bad if they just f'in tried. That is what makes this season so painful. Remember the 9-10 shutouts? Who the heck wants to go throgh that again. Man I swear sometimes I just can't figure them out offensively. And I have not even started on that terrible bonehead lapse they have on defense every other day.Whoa not worth gettig upset about but it can't be the same team that just taught the defending AL champs a lesson in fundamentals!!!!!!!!! Where the heck did they go? Becks is a rookie and you have to allow for that but the rest, dunno!!! They are trying. Verlander is an excellent pitcher. My only complaint is that they seemed to get active early in the count. Beating a tier 1 stuff guy like Verlander is about getting his ass back to the bench and out of the game as quickly as possible. Especially when he has a high pitch count earlier in the game. Outside of that hitting, 98 mph fastballs with 12/6 curveballs to back it up is sick. You can't expect them to center up and drive that type of stuff. We will have to live with the defensive plays right now as this team is what it is. Its frustrating, but won't be changed until this off season. I believe they will move Beckham to 2nd, who will be a fine defensive 2nd baseman. Hopefully they can pick up someone to play 3rd. And then maybe an OF and move Dye to DH. That should help clean up things a bit.
