  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 9, 2009 -> 06:49 PM) Well, they were making a big deal out of Obama "bowing" on his trip to Europe/Turkey/Iraq. Even Gartrell has a lot of upside/ability...this is definitely the best White Sox minor league team in years. Omogrosso and Poreda can make a contribution this year to the big league club, and Santeliz...perhaps Ely or Cassel. Not the best of starts. Bases loaded and no outs. 2B, HBP and BB. First error of approximately 30-45 on Beckham this year...threw a double play relay into the dirt and Allen couldn't handle it. 2-0 Lookouts. The lookout announcers stated that it was in the glove on Allen and he dropped it.
  2. QUOTE (scenario @ Apr 9, 2009 -> 06:41 PM) LOL. Yeah, I just listened for a few minutes and shut it off when the host was explaining the few tweaks Palin had to make if she wanted to make another run for office. Last summer for work I had to drive from Atlanta to Knoxville then up to Virginia hitting different locations. I actually remember flipping through some of the radio stations on talk radio. It was some interesting opinions that were being stated.
  3. QUOTE (scenario @ Apr 9, 2009 -> 06:03 PM) I think this station... WYDE-FM... has the home coverage for the Barons. I'll double-check. Lookout Radio for the Barons game Gameday Barons versus Lookouts 4/9/09
  4. Well onto tomorrow against the Twins. Hopefully we bring the bats to face RA Dickey. The Barons play tonight. Hope to hear some Beckham and Viciedo offense tonight.
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 9, 2009 -> 03:23 PM) No he can't. He's just about to bring out the "lift and pull" BS he has trademarked. Actually no. Meche and Greinke are good pitchers. I can accept them dominating our lineup, because they have plus stuff. If Davies has automatically changed into a similar type pitcher then facing the royals is going to suck. I will wait to see what Davies does against other teams before I annoint him super pitcher. A 7 inning 3 hit shutout with 8ks is a pretty dominating pitching performance.
  6. Our pitching especially our relief has been awesome so far.
  7. QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Apr 9, 2009 -> 03:13 PM) LOL! I love these constant jokes about lousy pitchers and always calling them, "Cy." Ah ha ha ha ha... ha... ahhhh... Find a better game he has pitched. He had a 8 inning 4 hitter with 8ks last year against Seattle with no runs. Thats the only one thats in this class in his career.
  8. Congrats to Kyle Davies who just tied his career record for strikeouts. This is probably one of his best games evah. Next week, someone will put a 9 spot up on him.
  9. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Apr 9, 2009 -> 02:52 PM) This season is gonna be really frustrating I can tell. The division is gonna suck and we will be extremely up and down. The frustrating thing will be wasting good starts like this because our offense will be jeckle and hyde all season long. There will be periods of time that they will get baffled by anyone who can throw the ball, and other times where for 2 games they will punch out 10 runs and look like world beaters.
  10. Glad we let a couple weeks of work against minor leaguers and guys getting their work in sway us into bringing him to the big club.
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 9, 2009 -> 02:46 PM) Davies was 9-7 with a 4.06 ERA for a bad team last year when he was 24. Maybe he's better than you think. After spending a month and a half and playing in 80 degree weather everyday, its an adjustment hitting in current conditions, not that its 30 degrees, but neither team is hitting much. I think the pitching has been good, I just think pitchers have a real big advantage right now. Well if RA Dickey puts it all together tomorrow night then its time to really worry.
  12. Guillen seriously needs to stop automatically sending people when there are 2 outs and he gets a man on first. Everyone knows its going to happen. Hell Mike Scoscia was calling pitch outs on it last year. Its one thing if its a base stealer, now he just sends anyone and everyone.
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 9, 2009 -> 02:40 PM) Meche and Greinke are pretty good pitchers. I'm not sure about Davies. I think the park also plays real big when the weather is colder, not the ideal set-up for the current White Sox roster. Dick if they were stretching fly balls that didn't reach its one thing. They are not making contact at all here. Davies is not Meche or Greinke.
  14. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 9, 2009 -> 02:37 PM) Time for a quick 1-2-3 inning by our offense. You have to love when you get 2 quality starts from your young kids and you are looking at no wins for either of them. Nice job O.
  15. Imagine if this team had an offense to go with its pitching.
  16. It seems that as long as the opposing pitcher only throws fastballs we have a chance. If they change speed, or make the pitch move at all we are f***ed. Cy Davies
  17. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Apr 9, 2009 -> 02:12 PM) We aren't even hitting the ball hard. Pop ups, easy grounders, Ks. At least get out on hard hit balls. When we don't hit for power (whether it's the weather or a slump) we simply suck on offense. Hopefully RA Dickey doesn't have it all come together tomorrow night. I guess we have to wait until June before our offense starts to work.
  18. QUOTE (CryptviLL @ Apr 9, 2009 -> 12:48 PM) porcello is pitching well indeed ^^ So much for him taking a long time to get to the majors. We should of picked him over Poreda. I think that will be very evident over the next few years.
  19. QUOTE (WCSox @ Apr 9, 2009 -> 12:39 PM) I really hope that Anderson gets some at-bats against MIN this weekend. He will against Liriano, then its back to the bench until the next lefty comes up.
  20. QUOTE (tonyho7476 @ Apr 9, 2009 -> 09:32 AM) I say put one in Teahan's head. He was hit intentionally after he didn't back off the plate. You never throw at someone's head. If you want to drill them, you throw just behind them and aim for the middle of the numbers in the back.
  21. QUOTE (LZPride08 @ Apr 8, 2009 -> 10:41 PM) is anyone else embarrassed that our leadoff hitter is 0-8, with 4 K's and no BB... o and i guess he's never learned how to lay down a bunt How many walks did he draw in the spring, how many walks does he draw overall. Wise is what he is, a career minor leaguer, who gets most of his OBP from his bat. He is not particularly good at hitting, can't field all that well. And is probably a 4th OF, on a mediocre team. Here, for some crazy reason he is a starter and a leadoff guy. I figure he will get destroyed over the next month. They will move him from leadoff, and put him down at 9th for his laughable defense. Brian will get spot starts when Liriano, Lester, or some other lefty comes up to face the sox. Then of course its back to punt, kick and run the Dewayne Wise attack.
  22. Chris Rongey wants to wait a few weeks with Wise at the top, and if at that point he sucks then make a change. Sure Chris, lets tank the first month of the season giving the worst hitter in the lineup the most ABs. Good job Chris. Can we give Mr Anderson a game, oh I am sure his first game after sitting for over a week will be Liriano.
  23. Hopefully we greet him with low and away stuff, and breaking balls in the dirt. I want to see those high majestic popups to the 2nd baseman, or the roll over grounder to the SS, or the electric K. Anyone throws a fastball middle in, and they should be running foul poles after the game.
