Danks (0-0) vs. Baker (1-0): MAKE IT SIX!
southsideirish71 replied to TitoMB345's topic in 2008 Season in Review
QUOTE (max power @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 09:56 PM) Wow lamb is a big sissy. Just finish your at bat then grab some bench. Hopefully I am just missing the obvious green. Fouling off a fastball off your leg in cold April weather isnt fun. if you want the same experience, stand outside for an hour in the same weather, then crack a hammer off of your shin. See how fun it is. -
Very disturbing. Butters version

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 09:29 AM) Uninstall all the garbage Dell pre-installs to lower the cost of their computers, too. Oh, and install this since you're a FF user: http://noscript.net/ Call me paranoid, but I don't like when sites run 3rd party scripts on my browser...ever. Good catch. We have used http://www.pcdecrapifier.com/ to clear a lot of the automatic garbage that is packaged with machines. For the most part we dont deal with it because we run a standard image, but occasionally we get a user who buys a laptop on their own, and then complains when those auto-installed apps break something.

QUOTE (Texsox @ Apr 8, 2008 -> 04:55 PM) She is asking for a good screen grabber, any choice downloads? preferably free. I always use the cut and paste into Paint, I guess there are better options. For a screen capture you can use Snag It. Here are the basics. Remember to make sure her firewall is on, and that the Automatic Updates are set to download and install automatically. If you are running Vista or XP and need to use IE then use IE7 and run it once, so you can setup the phishing protection and turn it on. Or use Firefox and ad adblock to it. http://www.winpatrol.com/ Runs in the system tray and alerts on changes to startup behavior. Make sure you download the latest adobe reader. The version that may have come with the laptop may be vulnerable to some security issues.

Vazquez (0-1) vs. Blackburn (0-1): HOME OPENER!

Its amazing the shear amount of popups to the right side Crede has over the course of one season. He has to lead our team in right side popups. -

Anytime Vazquez wants to get ahead of a hitter, it would be fine by me. edit: Damn Gameday. So watching gameday, and ignoring this important meeting is probably bad right. -

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 7, 2008 -> 03:27 PM) 3-4-5 has to get it going... When the first 2 guys get on base like that, you need some production from the meat of the order. -

Well pathetic ABs by Konerko and Dye. You dont take 2 strikes off the bat, two bats in a row with ducks on the pond. You are paid to drive them in. At least we tied the game. -

QUOTE(Reddy @ Apr 7, 2008 -> 01:02 PM) i'm going to be really sad the day they no longer use thunderstruck... The entire montage needs to stay as is. They already tried once to replace Thunderstruck and it lasted like a few games. Brooks realizes what we like as fans. -

I don't know about you, but the first home game you get to go to. The minute you look onto that field, and when the Entrance Video starts its magical. I like the offense this year. Taking lots of pitches, being patient. Hitting the ball into the gaps. Not relying on the homer. Hopefully they can keep this up. -

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 07:09 PM) Let's see Owens do that I only hope that Knights fans can embrace Owen's speed this year. He could be a factor in them making the playoffs. -

southsideirish71 replied to TitoMB345's topic in 2008 Season in Review
You see taking 4 bases is better than a guy hitting a dribbler, then attempting to steal 2nd base. OBP+Power > Medicore+Speed Say no to Owens. -
Well we have a leadoff hitter, actually getting on base in front of the big boppers. This is what a leadoff hitter should do. Now I understand that we have people who equate leadoff hitter with 40 yard dash times, but oddly the RedSox batted Youklis up there one year with some good success based on the fact that he could get on base. Also Carlos Quentin needs to be the everyday LF. This kid has all sorts of potential. Its amazing watching a LF who can actually make a throw and a play on a fielder. Previously that same out would of been at least cut twice. He gets deep into counts, and has good power. Wait till it heats up in the summer. This kid could be a major force in LF. Floyd, for all the hate this kid gets on here for not being Cy Freakin Young. He is our 5th starter. And he pitched well today. He will have good days and bad. His breaking stuff is pretty good, and unlike a lot of our previous 5th starters with his talent he can shut down a team. When Owens comes off the DL, I would like him to assume the role that he should play on this team. 4th OF and pinch runner. Ramirez should go down, and take over everyday SS for the Knights. He is our SS of the future and needs more seasoning. With the Davanon pickup, you figure that Brian will eventually be sent off or traded. And for the radar gun police. We see this every year with Jenks. His velocity coming out of April into May is down. Then it goes up to the mid 90s. He has 4 pitches and can get major league hitters out without the triple digits. When he gets his mid 90s velocity and above he becomes a freak. Right now, he is a pitcher. And with a screw in his arm, I would rather have the mid 90s guy with great control, over the triple digits thrower that he was when he came up.

Gavin "Pretty Boy" Floyd vs. D-Train, Going for three!
southsideirish71 replied to TitoMB345's topic in 2008 Season in Review
So we have Willis, who cannot throw a fastball in the zone to save his life. Yet we are helping him out, by either swinging early in the Count. Or hitting into DPs. Nice stupid approach today by the lineup. -
Harold finally gives his input. Such a great hitter, you figure that he could help some of our hitters become better.

Odd to see a setup guy going into the windup. But he has good velocity so far, keeps the ball down, and the change of pace on his breaking pitch is pretty dramatic.
