QUOTE(greg775 @ Aug 1, 2007 -> 11:10 PM) Did we rush Danks? He is the definition of gopher ball it seems. He should of had one more season at AAA. He is learning on the job. He is a rookie, sometimes he will look good, and a few times this year he will get decked. Such is the life of a rookie pitcher in the AL.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 1, 2007 -> 10:10 PM) For all the people that like this move, I am curious about something, if Floyd continues to pitch like he has shown, how many starts do you give him until you do pull the plug? When is enough enough? Well what praytell should we do then. Go to a 4 man rotation? Yes Floyd has blown, but sending Contreras out there to get destroyed is not a better option. Lets give him a few starts and see what happens. Worse thing that happens is that he gets destroyed. Then you know, and you can make a decision.

Farmer and Singleton made a few comments about Fields glove. Saying its oversized like a OF's glove. Hopefully if the announcers are making comments about it, He can switch to a smaller glove like an infielder should have. -

QUOTE(briguy27 @ Aug 1, 2007 -> 07:41 PM) Hawk just said all 4 of our hits are by lefties, too. Guillen is a dope. This is baseball strategy. You have a guy who features a plus cutter. You keep people of the same hand in against him. Against Mariano, a lefty gets sawed off. A righty has a better chance. Against Buerhle, lefties have a better chance than righties because of the cutter. Ozzie is appendage aware though. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 1, 2007 -> 07:28 PM) Couple of comments: - It was dumb to move Fields up to the #2 spot just when he was getting comfortable at the plate. There's nothing about his game that leads you to believe he'd be good in that 2 spot, and he hasn't looked good at the plate in the few games since. - .19 ERA is all that is keeping me from saying KW had a horrible offseason. They probably looked at that Josh sees a lot of pitches, and thought number 2 hitter. That isnt the case. They should of left him back in the order, allowed him to hit freely and learn. They should of moved Prancer or Toy down to number 2. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 1, 2007 -> 05:44 PM) Awesome....we get to see the Richar/Gonzalez platoon go into effect tonight. Good to see that I was right on this. Richar will get the "Anderson" platoon treatment. Oh, the pitcher throws lefty, and Richar is lefty. We must bench him tonight, and play my toy, I mean my number one guy off the bench Andy Gonzales. -
QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 1, 2007 -> 09:51 AM) You didn't ask me, but I would accept a 2 year deal. He's minor compared to the other problems this club has. Steff, For 2 years, its a no brainer. You sign him. But I would think that Dye would want more years considering where he is at his age. If we could move him to DH, sure again no brainer. The guy can hit. I think he will be able to hit until he is 40. Its how his legs hold up that worries me. How he will hold up in the OF. Dye plays hard in the OF. He doesn't dog it, and as he gets older that aggressiveness might create some nagging injuries.
-
QUOTE(Maverick0984 @ Aug 1, 2007 -> 09:31 AM) I don't want Dye to go anywhere So you want to sign him for 3 years and have a 36/37 year old in RF.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 04:37 PM) Really excited about this game tonight, some new exciting players to watch... Hi, my name is Darin. We can win the division now. -

QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 03:44 PM) I hope they trade them for nothing. Thats honestly what I feel they should do, just scrap Erstad and Pods. But my guess is no one wants them even for free. They could designated them both for assignment as of today, if they really where in a lets see what the kids are doing. Hell they could even bench them. But that isnt going to happen.
-
QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 03:40 PM) You can call them scrubs whatever, but the fact is the only way the Sox will know what they have in terms of younger players, is to put them on the field and see how they do. The real problem is that years ago the White Sox felt that Brian Anderson was the top OF prospect that the organization had and traded Chris Young. Had the Sox auditioned both of them, perhaps they would have felt differently and Anderson would have been traded when we had numerous offers for him. I dont understand what people want. Kenny trades the players he can, for what he can get. He does not destroy the core with bad trades, and people are pissed. What could he have done? Outside of Garland or Vazquez, where was he exactly going to get value? Im sorry but WMP for Dye is a sucker bet, Id rather offer arb and see if Dye signs some where else. Plus unless Dye goes insane the Sox are almost undoubtedly going to win. If Sweeney is called up, and is playing in left every single day. I would agree with you. Pods is currently starting in LF, he isnt a younger player. Erstad is near activation, what do you think they are going to do with him. Bench him.
-
QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 03:26 PM) Really? Mack is a starter? Last I checked he was on the bench. Call bulls*** all you want, but no one is trading major spects for bench players who are old. Last year he was one year less old and we traded Damaso Marte, a lefty reliever for him.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 03:18 PM) Now Ozzie can use his new toy, Gonzalez, even more. It took Ozzie a year and a half to finally start using Mackowiak the right way, and now he's gone. You are forgetting the cherry on the turd sundae. The only thing left to f*** up, is to play Pods and Erstad over the kids, and to platoon Richar with Gonzales. I expect Pods to be leading off tonight, with Erstad batting 2nd.

QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 02:46 PM) Well hold on now...Kenny did trade two solid major league players and has gotten back 2 single A players (from some reports the Padres got Mack for a single A player). SINGLE A???? You may as well draft a kid on the sandlot. You don't know jackcrap about a player until he makes it to AA at least. A single A reliever at that. John Link, Class A pitcher

QUOTE(frankie5angels @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 02:26 PM) It just baffles me that there is no market at all for Dye. All you here is Boston and that is it. I hope KW didn't fall in love with the idea of getting WMP and Delcarmen, and now is gonna be stuck with Dye. I have to believe other teams were interested in him, but you know how KW falls in love with certain players. There is a market for Dye, but Kenny wants major league ready players or members of their bullpen. A lot of teams would rather say piss off than run with that. If Kenny took a guy a year or so away, he might have success moving him. Now he will sign him to a 3 year deal, and we shall see in year 3 when he is 36/37 and he is running( I use that term lightly) around in RF. I bet he takes a major hit on the DL at some point for the life of that contract.

QUOTE(frankie5angels @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 02:08 PM) Stark only said it was a minor league guy for Mackowiak. Out of all the people I would have liked Mack to stay and Cintron to go. Well when the manager throws a bear hug on Cintron for every little piddle of good things he does, you know who is on their way out. -
