When you are battling a life threatening disease you will use whatever to fix it. I am sure that the person that is told they have 6 months to live doesnt think about secondary issues 5 years down the road. He could be 100% healthy, however he could also have another issue a few years down the road. Its definately a risk.

If they could lock up Garland and Buerhle, build around that and move Contreras and Vazquez that would be great. Contreras and Vazquez are pitchers that Omar has been interested in before, they are locked up for a while. Its kind of funny. A few years back, KW put out publically that he would sign either Garland or Contreras, and trade the other if they didnt agree to a long term deal. They both capitulated in a short period of time. Now we put Buerhle on the block, and within a few days we hear that they are close to a long term deal.
