White Sox vs. Royals, 6/29/07 (L)

Dont worry, they will tip their caps about how they were aced. And no hitter on earth could deal with what we have seen. Tampa we hit them well, but all the strikeouts should of told you that the offense isnt fixed. -

Contreras needs to keep that arm angle up. He has been dropping down all night long. -

QUOTE(The Critic @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 08:16 PM) Hawk's been pretty awful this year, and I'm normally a fan. He's been hard to listen to most of the time lately. The foghorn leghorn routine of dag gummit, and the jumping on the umps like a fan in the crowd is getting to be too much. -

Hawk makes a catfish hunter reference. He is now due at least one Kaline, and one Boston Redsox comment in the next 30 minutes. -

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 03:26 PM) Can someone clarify Lester's cancer to me? Is it something that might recur, or are they SURE it's done, now that he's been treated? Because if there's the possibility that it'd recur, there's no way I'd deal for him. The only problem with Lester's cancer returning, is not the return of the primary cancer, but the secondary cancers due to chemo if he had that as his primary treatment. My wife is an oncology nurse and educator. She administrates and deals with chemo on a day to day basis. They consider chemo itself toxic and they have to follow strict guidelines on handling it, and administrating it. If a nurse is pregnant they dont allow them to administrate chemo because it can be absorbed through the skin and cause all sorts of issues with the baby. Chemo itself kills the cancer, however it also kills healthy cells around it as well. Due to the toxicity of it, it also has and can cause secondary cancers a few years down the line. That is why you see someone cancer free, and then a few years later they get a different type of cancer. She couldnt tell me the ratio of chemo patients that come back with secondary cancers, but she sees some frequent return patients. When you are battling a life threatening disease you will use whatever to fix it. I am sure that the person that is told they have 6 months to live doesnt think about secondary issues 5 years down the road. He could be 100% healthy, however he could also have another issue a few years down the road. Its definately a risk.

Youtube.com has some of the weirdest things. Here are some Vietnamese kids, who defeated pirates, made it to texas via a gold ring under their tounge, and now jump rope for jesus. Its time to call it a night and go to bed.

Look who is number 1. We got a steal for the Garcia trade.

Dodgers Interested in Dye?

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 11:37 PM) That's pretty much my dream scenario right there. I highly doubt Jose has that sort of trade value, however. The cubs and their s***ty overpriced deals to crappy pitchers like Marquis might help here. Pitching is at an all time premium. And Omar loves Contreras and Vazquez. They are locked up for reasonable deals for more than a year. It should be good value. Contreras in the NL should be pretty damn good. Here is Calis on Gomez. Jim Callis: (2:04 PM ET ) I can. His ceiling is huge and this year, with the way he's performed, I have more belief that he can reach it. He's definitely ahead of Milledge on the Mets' depth chart and I bet Milledge gets dealt in the next six months. What could Dye bring back from the Dodgers or San Diego is the real question though. -

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 11:05 PM) I dunno, if Gavin Floyd can wind up doing in the big leagues what he's doing in the minor leagues right now, and you keep Buehrle and Garland around, and Fields keeps hitting, and Sweeney and Richar give us something, we might not be that far away next year, esp. if we can hold onto Buehrles and turn either Vaz or Jose into something valuable. We'd basically need a leadoff hitter. Conteras to the Mets and get gomez back. -
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 05:06 PM) 5:00 update and the Score is still at it. "The Score has learned that the deal is close." Sports Ilustrated is reporting the same thing
-
Well at some point this evening. In the postgame. Reporters are going to stick a microphone in Mark's face and ask him this question. If he says there is no negotiation then we know. If he says something else then the speculation can still commence.

QUOTE(klaus kinski @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 01:17 PM) How embarrassing to a team that has to issue press releases to deny what their hand picked flagship says. Not any worse than the morning show guy for the flagship station thinking he has to get into a verbal brawl with members of the whitesox when they come on his show.

Dont worry, Bombs Away Bruce can saved himself later with MJH "The best analyst in the business, he stays up all night, the one, the only, BRUUUUUCE Levine is on the phone with breaking news. " "We have found out that just a few minutes ago, Kenny found Marks agent and they have nailed together a deal. Early when I reported that the didnt talk, well that was true. It just happened in the last 5 minutes" MJH " Thats why you are the best in the business Bruuuuuuuce Levine. You heard it here first listeners, Mark Burhle will be a white sox for more years. Then tomorrow we can have a Kotex Boy article talking about how the whitesox have pigeon holded themselves into a long term deal with a pitcher and how it will bite them. They could of rebuild the entire team with the prospects for Buerhle. KW, Jerry and the Blizzard of OZ dont like prospects and dont like winning.
-
QUOTE(daa84 @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 11:55 AM) really? cuz i seem to remember just about everyone on this site blasting bruce levine on just about every rumor he brought up over hte last 2 years......remember the bruce levine is about as accurate as carpet bombing quotes Both stations are not all the accurate on their rumors. Its really a toss up on what to believe. You have either Buerhle agreeing to a below market deal, giving us a home town discount. or You have a station saying they are talking to the agent themselves and no deal is on the market. So whoever is the loser in this, it will be very ugly. Logic states is hard to believe that a player is sacrificing a lot of money for a "home town" discount. Who knows, hopefully we can all be pleasantly surprised later today.
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 11:45 AM) Ok, last speculative comment right here. If Buehrle does come on and says he signed an extension then he went behind his agent's back to get a deal done on his own. Why would he need to go behind the agent's back. The agent works for him, if he tells the agent he wants to sign a contract for X, unless its an illegal contract the agent should work it out.
-
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 11:39 AM) Levine claiming to have spoken to Buerhle's agent, says no contract talks are taking place between the two. Well one radio station has some explaining to do. Either Levine is off his rocker, or the sox flagship is.
-
Well Moiph is on congratulating sox fans, because sox fans calling the radio station talking about not renewing season ticket packages if Buerhle is traded is what did it. Now AM1000(Kalapse said AM1000) is on he other radio station saying something else. Talk about Polar opposites.

QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 09:34 AM) I saw this in the Sun-Times first thing this morning (at about 5:45AM) arriving at O'Hare after being stranded overnight out of town. And it made my day. You're damn right sign him! Count can go, Vaz too. Garland's not going anywhere, BTW. I repeat my vows about this: if they do this, I will resume going to games (this saves at least part of the season for me) and I will buy a Buehrle jersey. DO IT! Building a rotation around Buerhle and Garland makes sense. They are both young, innings eaters, and have gotten better over the years.
-
QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 09:32 AM) Vaz would get more than Count. Although, I think Vaz is worth keeping around. We'll see. Both of them could dominate the National League. They should be attractive to National League teams.
-
If they could lock up Garland and Buerhle, build around that and move Contreras and Vazquez that would be great. Contreras and Vazquez are pitchers that Omar has been interested in before, they are locked up for a while. Its kind of funny. A few years back, KW put out publically that he would sign either Garland or Contreras, and trade the other if they didnt agree to a long term deal. They both capitulated in a short period of time. Now we put Buerhle on the block, and within a few days we hear that they are close to a long term deal.

The ball tricked Konerko, it tried to go in his mitt, and that tricked him.
