  1. K number one of many for Johan tonight.
  2. Maybe we can get Selig to get Van Slykes sensitivity training in order. Maybe he can use the same person that Ozzie used.
  3. Contreras gets out of it. Nice. Now lets see if we can get some runs. Well lets first see if we can put the bat on the ball.
  4. Bmac moving into the rotation will free up 10 to 12 million a year. It wont be Joe going, more like something of the spicy latin flavor.
  5. QUOTE(Reddy @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 04:50 PM) i wouldnt. can you really name something that pods does that contributes to this teams success? Well Pods wife is hot. There is a remote possibility that you may see her at the park. But then again I can google her images on the internet, and then watch Soriano make Pods just a remote memory of 2005.
  6. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 04:29 PM) That is one year. His career OBP is only .346. Who cares about his rookie year. So, it is ENTIRELY true. I agree he did a good job at seeing more pitches last year, but this year? NO! Last year he did a great job at seeing more pitches and being a leadoff hitter. I don't see him doing that this year. You are getting a better average, about the same OBP, and only 4 less stolen bases. How does Podsednik possibly become the better leadoff hitter? The only categories that Pods ihas a higher number than Soriano in is triples and caught steals. That is it. There is no way that Pods has better numbers that Soriano that make him more suitable to leadoff. Your only argument is that Soriano is a great power hitter so we have to take advantage of that, however that does not make him any less suitable to hit leadoff than Pods. That is just ridiculous. Can we table this back and forth on OBP and value as a leadoff hitter for another thread. There are going to be two camps on this. Those who think he is a shoe in as a leadoff guy to replace pods, and those who want to see his power used lower in the order. Its pointless to go back and forth for multiple pages in a few threads on this subject. I think he will be a replacement for Pods and leadoff. Lets have KW get the guy, and then lets see where Ozzie bats him. No matter what happens, if we get Soriano he will help the team. If he hits leadoff he will help the team, if he hits 5th he will help the team.
  7. QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 11:33 AM) Nothing really new. Offman just reported if we were to acquire Soriano we'd trade him for more pitching help. Move Bmac into the rotation and one of our starters will be fixed. I thought that is why we picked up Macdougal.
  8. Our IT and Finance departments are moving from Elmhurst to our plant in Northlake. Nice datacenter move in the middle of summer. No summer vacations for me this year.
  9. QUOTE(soxunited @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 10:39 AM) I don't really understand why a lot of posters are considering this a lost cause before these guys have even played the game. For one thing, Santana has been far from unhittable recently. This is his record over his past 3 starts: Against Tampa Bay at home: 3 runs 6 hits in 6 innings, 7 SO Minn wins Against Cleveland at Jacobs field: 2 runs 5 hits in 7 innings, 7 SO Minn wins Against Texas at Ameriquest field: 5 runs 7 hits in 7 innings, 7 SO Minn loses The White Sox have shown that they can have success against Santana at home this season. Remember in April when Sanatana allowed 2 runs in 7 innings and was only able to strike out 6? Thome was even able to hit a HR off of Santana. The White Sox went on to win 7-1. Sure, Santana and the Minnesota bullpen were struggling at the beginning of the season, but the point is is that Santana isn't the shutout-game over force people think he is. Secondly, Contreras has had success against Minnesota this season, albeit post injury. In April, Contreras was able to pitch 8 innings, allowing only 2 runs against the Twins at the Cell. The White Sox went on to win the game 7-3. The only caveat to those statistics is that neither team is what it was in April. Minnesota has stepped up in both the offensive and pitching departments, while the White Sox have faltered. I personally am not too concerned that Ozzie will be placing Alomar in the game this evening, this series is much too important to rest the starting line-up. Tonight's game is going to come down to whether the cliched statement of when the real White Sox will present themselves, especially against an injured Twins team. You realize that Johan is 5-1 with a near 1 ERA against the sox over his last 6 games right. If we win this game I will be absolutely shocked. I am figuring that we will nick a few hits, maybe a solo homer but will K like 10 times against him.
  10. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 10:22 AM) Well let's not get too crazy; the team is still 20 games over .500 and by any stretch that's a great season--it's just that Detroit is so invincible this year. And Minnesota's doing what Cleveland did last year. I think expectations are sky-high this year to repeat and that's what's causing a lot of the tension all-around--including here. When you have a 7 game lead at the allstar break, you are not supposed to lose it in a matter of 2 weeks. This team was built to win, not to drop 9 out of 10. The KC Royals are a team that loses 9 out of 10. No matter how good the tigers or the twins are playing we are the reason we are in the position we are. Ozzie and his retarded managing is part of it, oru offense deciding to go on its annual post allstar break hibernation is another, and 3/5s of our starting pitching sucking is another. Our team was supposed to pitch this year, and sure as hell was supposed to hit. There is no reason this team should be laying the egg it is. And there is no fishing reason we should be starting more than 1 scrub at a time. Last year Ozzie used Timo like he was addicted to him. No matter what the lineup had, it needed more Timo. No matter how bad Timo did, he was in the lineup. Its the same thing this year. We dropped a lot of early games due to his 3 scrub lineups. Last year Ozzie put bmac in the rotation only after kicking and screaming all the way down. He wanted El Duque to be the man, no matter how bad he was doing. No matter how it mad sense to rest him. He kept marching him out there. And even used a piggy back methodology allowing us to go down 5 or 7 runs before bmac came in to mop up. Its the same thing this year. We just dont have a 15 game lead to blow through, we blew through our 7 game lead already.
  11. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 10:07 AM) That there were words between Oz and Dye because of JD's actions Sunday during the Garland incident. So we had Ross Gload in last night because Ozzie had to prove he was the man. Thats fishing great.
  12. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 09:51 AM) Are you implying that there's tension between Dye/Ozzie? Also, Cooper was on the radio, and he seemed rather pissed about Vazquez and his performances recently. I thought Cooper was going to have a nervous breakdown on the radio.
  13. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 09:27 AM) Steff there's no big drama about why Dye was out. He was getting a day off because he had played a lot and had whiffed four times in the game before. Like Konerko, it was thought that a day off might do him some good. Why do you rest him vs your primary competition.
  14. QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 11:06 PM) Ozzie's stupid decisions speak for themselves. His handling of SP's and the bullpen is indefensible. He stubbornly sticks with SP's for too long and makes poor bullpen usage decisions. And those screw ups are leading directly to losses. It isn't all Ozzie, but his horrible in-game decision making is losing this team games. And it is no defense of his horrible decisions to point to the championship. His in-game decisions didn't win us that championship. And they may well be a big reason for why we don't even get to the playoffs this year. Well between Ozzies handling of pitching which has been poor for a long time, his over insistance in resting starters(especially in the middle of a pennant race with your primary rivals), and his partner in crime who keeps waving our slowest runners around time and time again so they are meat by at least 10 feet its insane. I am sick of it takes a perfect throw to get the runner. No it doesnt take a perfect throw to throw out Konerko when you get the ball in short left field and wheels hasnt even rounded third. In fact like last Friday you can have a throw up the line and stil have time to tag out our slow catcher. Ozzie needs to realize that Javier is a 5 inning pitcher. You cant make him into what you want, unless you want to give up on the season.
  15. QUOTE(stretchstretch @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 11:24 PM) So, who's outfield spot would Alfonso take? The noodle armed singles hitter in LF. Hot wife, thats all that I can say good about him. Now some retard calls into the Fuzzy Bunny postgame show with a real dumb idea. Have Cintron leadoff. Thanks, but no. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 11:26 PM) It also seems like we're making a horrible financial decision at this point, running his clock while he rots away in relief, especially when he's needed in the rotation. But at least Vazquez can get his head together for the 07 season and Freddys arm might be healed by then.
  16. We will have to wait until 2007 for bmac to be in the SR. I dont know how we will be able to run off a good streak with bookends of junk in our rotation. Either Garcia or Javy will kill any momentum. The twins took Lohse out of their rotation, we keep 2 of them in ours.
  17. The pink fuzzy bunny must of just started following the whitesox this year when he got the postgame gig. He cant believe the O can go into a long funk. Well welcome to being a whitesox fan past the allstar break. We hit solo homers, strikeout a lot, pop up like masters, and roll over GIDP with RISP. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 11:13 PM) Putting BMac in the rotation may be similar to the Liriano Effect. The sooner he's starting, the smarter we'll look. He had a 1.59 ERA down the stretch last year. My prediction is unless someone is traded, he wont make the rotation until say late August when Ozzies hand is finally pushed. For whatever reason, Ozzie doesnt want to part with either of his 2 crappy pitchers. They will start, go deep into games and get rocked.
  18. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 10:49 PM) Good post...in general they are really letting this funk get to them, just like they did last year. Last year I said as soon as they clinched they'd be golden, this year they won't have that opportunity so they will have to make or create some other sort of break that gets the pressure off there backs and lets them get back to having fun. I don't know what that will be, but I'm hoping it starts with a win over Santana and continues with a win by Buehrle and a series win over the Twins. The problem with our O that happens every year is this is about the time that hitters get a bit tired. And for a power hititng slug team like ours that pulls most of its pitches our swings get long. then you are fouling off the fastball down the middle because you have a dip in your swing, and are trying to do to much with it. Then you get to 2 strikes and you roll it over to the SS or pop it up. This has been designated for years as corpseball. This is what we are going through. What we need our hitters to do, is to shorten their swing up, and try and go away with the pitch away instead of pulling everything. The minute they start dong this the pitchers will need to go back in, and we will start hitting more screaming line drives. Until we adjust we wont hit anyone. Santana will K over 10 tomorrow night.
  19. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 10:40 PM) Most would say Javier imploded, I would say the Twins just hit good pitches and than in the 6th you could make a case for him imploding with Cotts almost getting out of the jam but giving up a 3 run Hr to Mauer (who he threw a 3-1 FB to, and it was questionable why we threw to Mauer at that point instead of walking him). Jas this is not the first time this has happened. This is not a lets tip our hat to the opposing offense moments here. We have a pattern. To me, Javy is the same thing as our 5th starter is to the 2004 team. He is an autoloss. I bet our team was waiting around for him to detonate.
  20. QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 10:37 PM) In some things, he is a F'n idiot. His in-game decsion making didn't help Chicago win its title. He has been consistently bad in in-game decision making both this season and last season. He makes serious mistakes based on a poor knowledge of how to handle both SP's and the bullpen. Well between his in game handling of pitching, and Joey Coras waving arms our duo is really fishing up something here that is good. This team so far looks lost. How the fish do you lose 7 games on the wild card in a 2 week period without laying down or money changing hands. We didnt have an injury, we didnt have a person quit. Every fishing year our offense goes into the spiffter post allstar break for like a month or so. They get oober pull conscious and all you see is corpseball. Which this is what that is, corpseball. And usually the twins come in and fish us up letting our pull monkeys pull the pitch over and over and make quick work.
  21. QUOTE(daa84 @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 10:26 PM) i thought he handled vazquez fine tonight, i thought javy only made two really bad pitches tonight...the change to morneau was left up, and he absolutely hung a slider to mauer and got lucky that mauer swung and missed....again, ive said it like 10 times....i still have 0 idea why anyone pitches to mauer in teh situation they did He only made a few bad pitches against the tigers, and a few bad pitches against X team he imploded past the 5th inning. Here is the formula. When If V > 5i please warm up bullpen, when V >= 6i then start replacement formula.
  22. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 10:23 PM) I really can't blame Ozz. Its hard to listen to the stats that say Javy can't get guys out late in the games, when he throws so dominant and had barely been hit for 5 innings. Jas you have watched the last few starts and all of Javys starts this year. This is not the first time this has happened. Outside of the Royals he has a problem with the 3rd time through.
  23. Ozzie just said the quote that governs his decisions I want to give my starters the best opportunity to win the game. Well thanks Oz, but as the manager maybe you can worry more about geting the team a win. Screw your starters and their personal stats. This is a team game.
  24. QUOTE(beautox @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 10:15 PM) isn't the sox bullpen the least used in mlb? maybe Ozzie has finally come to the realization Vazquez is money for the first two times though the order, but after that he isn't, so seeing how Vazquez is our 5th starter even though hes getting paid like a 1 he should pull him after the 5/6th Nope this will repeat again. I guarentee that Javy will be cruising through, and will hit the 6th, Ozzie will think he finally got over the hump. And then 7 runs later we lose.
  25. Nice video of Neal Cotts beating up the water cooler. I am sure the water cooler will never throw that meatball again.
