Widger was a class guy. I like many was frustrated with his performance this year. He is an older player who gave us one hell of a year of lightning in a bottle. Thanks for 2005. For them to DFA Widger they have to have a trade just about wrapped up. There is no way that they would do this without a safety net. Hell Ozzie barely likes to use one of the catchers to pinch hit due to possibly having problems with no backup catcher. So who hits lefties good and calls a good game. Thats pretty much what we are looking for.

Thank God we pinch ran Mackowiak. I am sure Osuka is spiffitng his pants that he is facing Mackowiak instead of Thome. I love when we neuter our O to get a pinch runner in, with a tie game.

This is officially corpseball offense we are seeing here. It fishing arrives every year after the Allstar Break for a few weeks. All you see is people pull everything on the ground, or popping things up. You may see the occasional homer. But this needs to fishing go away quickly. I never saw corpseball coming back this year. Not with all of the 300 hitters. Someone needs to earn their money and get these guys back to hitting line drives.
