  1. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 01:42 PM) Yeah Flaxx and I spun the Truth that the anti-contraceptive campaign has been partially responsible for the spread of the global AIDS pandemic, increased overpopulation etc., that the Church apparatus knowingly abetted child rapists for 40+ years and moved them into new communities where their crimes were unknown, shielding these evil bastards from civil authorities. If you want to talk about idiotic messages, at least I'm not acting as an apologist for an institution that has been part of mass exterminations and coddled men who molested and raped small children. (And no MrEye, this isn't about you and other Catholics...this is purely about those who are apologists for the Church apparatus, failing to see that it has a helluva lot of blood on its hands) Again here is a bit of hypocracy that the church shouldnt be responsible for the myth that the Catholic church is responsible for the spread of global aids. If a person is so oober religious that they must listen to the edict about anti-contraceptive. How are they getting aids. Yes their husband/wife could be a hemophiliac or got it through a blood transfusion. But for it to be about the contraceptives it must be through poking everything around. So they are so moral that "I cant wear a rubber because its against the church" and then 10 minutes later, "Well Kelly its time to get it on, I know we are not married and that is against the teachings of the catholic church, but at least I am not wearing a rubber so I am good to go. 2 sins gets me to hell, but 1 doesnt."
  2. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 01:26 PM) I just want to add to what Southsider said here. We are working on figuring out just what exactly the lines are on this forum. Obviously we created this forum and you all were going to have more rope. We don't monitor this forum much and there will obviously be times where you see something you totally hate and disagree with and eventually you'll have to walk away from it and ignore it and move on to another discussion. Thats just a fact of life in the filabuster. Where we stand on this forum, what are the limits, we don't exactly know. However, there are two ways we can go with this: 1. We can get more strict and tone things down which could essentially take away from the point of this forum (which was to encourage all out debate and at times people may go totally off the deep end; and while that comment may be totally wrong in most of our opinions or overly harsh it could in fact stirr up quite a bit of other side debate and intelligent debate). 2.We could keep things very loose and essentially keep this a free-reign forum. The obvious pro is that pretty much all discussion is allowed (aside from porn) or anything that would get this site or an indvidual in trouble but at the same time you will have the occasional comment or topic that totally goes against what you stand for (whether religious beliefs, politcial beliefs, or on what you feel is the proper sexual orienatation). Whether you guys like to admit it or not, there isn't a middle ground on this issue/forum because once we start going in and modding it turns back into a cesspool and it will basically further prove the original point I had when I essentially dumped political topics (the fact that people can't ignore their own personal agenda's for 2 seconds instead of listen, respond and end it at that; All too many times people take it too far and obviously that happens but in this new forum you all can do what you all, which is basically what you wanted in the first place. I like this forum how it works and vote for option 2. I can think that LCR is dead wrong on an issue, but respect his right to post it. I like this forum because I like to argue/debate and with all of the pinko leftist liberals(maybe that shouldnt be green) I get my chance to debate/argue. This forum is not for children, the weak of heart, or for those who are afraid to express their opinions. Its SLaP on steroids. LCR is enttitled to his opinion, however wrong it may be . I know when I read his posts that I am probably not going to agree with it. We are on opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to thoughts about religion, politics and all. I am not for censoring his opinion. My only hope is that this forum keeps the fair tide when all types of discussions begin. Something that I may post might and probably will offend those on the left. When they read my posts I am sure they have a clue what they are getting and my stylings as a poster in this forum. The mod team in this forum are mainly from the left, which I know doesnt encompass the majority of the admin team. As long as they are not quick to close threads they dont agree with, then I am cool with it. Like I have a say in it anyways . The only threads that should be offtopic are those that are personal attacks in nature, or those that involve the posting of porn(But if you have some porn please send it to me
  3. QUOTE(Random @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 12:48 PM) I have faith in my Norton Anti-Virus. If i blocks a virus, the damn thing goes crazy for hours until i finally install the live updates, because it cannot do it itself due to the virus. So, no virus is getting in my computer. that video is stupid, why would you go to a site knowing it will give you spyware :rolly Your assesment of "I have anti-virus therefore no harm can happen to me" is short sighted and a good way your machine becomes a b**** of the botnets on the internet. Your anti-virus engine scans memory and your systems for "known" pieces of malware. However someone crafting something that isnt "known" can get into your system. The WFM vulnerability is known, however techniques to exploit that in a code base are not known. As they are comming out the antivirus industry is doing a great job of "reacting" to this, however Anti-virus does not equal "protection" for your computer. And that video is not stupid. Actually its a great video because it shows what a possible infection can look like. It shows you a person getting exploited on a website. With ad rotation, and misdirected URLs, are you absolutely positive that you are not going to get a piece of adware/malware dropped down on your system. You can surf and hit a very respectible website who sells add space on their website that drops cookies down on your system. These cookies can assist logic on the webpage or partner ad site, to redirect your "popups" and ads. DonkeyKongerko: I have installed the patch on a test system and took a look at what it does to the system, registry and files. It looks relatively safe. I still wont install it at my work, because the idea of deploying this via 5000 pcs without WSUS is not worth the risk. So far so good with the mitigation.
  4. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 12:30 PM) http://www.cnn.com/2006/SHOWBIZ/TV/01/05/t...reut/index.html If you dont like it, change the channel. Dont deprive others of watching something because you dont agree with it. aaahhhhh censorship Just like Southpark. I fully expect that the religious factions would protest these items, just like other groups protest tv shows because it offends their cause. But I dont expect TV entities to pull it off the air. If someone doesnt like it, turn the channel. They need to be a bit stronger than this. I suspect that Anti-Ninja activist were the reason that my favorite show "The Master" was killed in 1984. What happened to Max Keller, did he become a ninja, did he pick up girls in his pimped out A team rip off van. Why didnt his hamster escape considering it was running loose in the van. I was robbed of my answers. Damn anti-Ninja facists. For all those who are too young to remember the Ninja show movement of the early 80's
  5. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 10:52 PM) I wish I could've seen it. The episode was funny, search on the net you can find it.
  6. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 09:02 PM) As I said before there are some Catholics that I respect. I just find it hilarious that Sleepy et al. seem to be defenders of an organization that coddled rapists and those complicit in mass exterminations. I find it ironic that you can argue for drugs, socialism, anti-americanism, all things left because you feel that you are so open and understanding....but the minute a catholic crosses your path thats when you just have to draw the line, all catholics except for a few are evil people that are responsible for the worlds evils. Its the socialist doubletalk twostep. I am sure that we can find evil actions by all societies throughout history. But please cherry pick the evil catholics and their plight to destroy the earth. No catholic unless they are delusional supports priests raping children. I think those priests should be excommunicated and tried for their crimes. However who the hell are you to judge all catholics and lump them in because of your biggoted anti-religion view. The church isnt preaching for the spread of aids. What a myopic view you have of this issue. GMAFB, If these poor african people are truly such good little catholics that they have to sit by doctrine law and dont use birth control, then what the hell are they doing having sex outside of the confines of marriage. So there goes the misconception that aids in africa is the problem of the church and their stance on birth control, because if they decide to go poking around outside of marriage then they can put on a rubber. Maybe you can build a time machine and enjoy the roman empire and how they treated the catholics.
  7. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 05:58 PM) We scored plenty of runs in 02, 03 and 04. We know how each of those season's ended. I don't care who we add, the strength of this team is the pitching staff. If they fall off, it doesn't matter how many runs we score. How many division titles would we have one if we had the current pitching staff with that offense. I am sorry but when you are marching out a crappy 5th starter that is basically an automatic loss ever couple of games you arent going to win a division with that. We had a bad offense for most of the year last year. We had a great pitching staff, great defense and a bad o. In the playoffs our O got hot at the right time. But to just say, well lets not get an upgrade to the O because we won last year is a bit short sited. Planning on Crede who hits at a .240 to .250 clip and Uribe who was so inconsistant they had to work with him over and over to get him to stop spinning like a tasmanian devil at the plate. If we get Tejada and mix it in our lineup it becomes even better. We get something we didnt have at all last year, a proven .300 plus hitter who has power. He makes contact also, which means that when Pods and Gooch are on, Tejada will get the line moving. It also makes Konerko and Thome better. How many times did we mess around with the 3 hole last year. It was a big problem spot. We can fix that and make our lineup more dangerous. We can also do this without hurting our pitching or our defense. Its a great move if we can pull it off.
  8. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 02:40 PM) I think that Israel cannot and would not decimate Tehran or any large population centers in Iran. If you think about the consequences of that, there is no good end for Israel. What I think is very likely to happen, though, is that Israel will probably destroy any and all sites of possible production of said weapons, and they'll do it very soon, before they are completed. Because once they are out there, there would be no way to reliably destroy them. Any attack to do so, once there are a few complete weapons roaming around the Iranian desert, is a crapshoot. You miss, and they'll fire. And it would only take 3 or 4 nukes to turn all of Israel into a big glass parking lot. Israel will strike the production facilities and vehicle (aka LR missle) facilities, once they have the intel to do so as completely as possible. If they can't make that happen before the weapons are completed, they won't attack at all. If they fail to pre-empt, they will re-assert their own nuclear presence in public and make sure Iran knows any missle attack would result in Tehran being destroyed. So in short, I'd say the only three possible outcomes of this are: 1. Isreal destroys Iran's programs the mid-east boils over even further conventionally, 2. Iran backs down, or 3. Iran gets the weapons before Israel can get to them, and the mid-east becomes a cold nuclear war. I suppose an argument could be made for one other scenario - Iran moves further to the political right, thinks they can get the nukes onto Israeli soil without detectable methods like missles or planes, and literally tries to wipe them off the map in one stroke. If that happens... I don't even want to think about it. What will most likely happen will be some sort of air strike against suspected iranian nuclear facilities. The only nukes that will be used in this will be bunker busters with low yield weapons. The only way this becomes Tehran glowing in the dark is if a response happens from Iran where a WMD hits Israel(chemical, biological, or nuclear). At that point all bets are off. Now as for iran taking out israel. Sure that could happen. But with the large assortment of tactical and large scale nuclear weapons that the israelies have. They could literally take out the entire middle east and then some. MAD will not work in this scenario. The Russians didnt openly talk about the destruction of Washington. They didnt say they wanted Idaho wiped off the face of the earth. I am convinced that the minute Iran gets a workable weapon it detonates in some manner over some part of Israel.
  9. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 02:03 PM) If there is actual evidence, the IAEA has not seen it. The best evidence seemed to come a few years ago when the IAEA found 1 trace of highly enriched uranium on a centrifuge, but upon detailed examination they determined that the trace came from Pakistan, where the centrifuges were made. The IAEA has expressed concern about Iran's activities, but at least as of basically last year, all of the facilities the IAEA knew about and inspected showed no signs of uranium enriched to weaponized levels. North Korea, for example, is a different story...when you reprocess fuel rods to extract plutonium, there are distinct signals - radiogenic gases which are released (I believe the key one was Xenon, but I could be mistaken). Those signals were clearly detected in samples taken along the DMZ right after th ey removed the IAEA cameras a few years ago. They clearly reprocessed the stuff, and are in possession of enriched plutonium. The reality with Iran is this...they've taken some of the actions they would have taken had they been trying to develop a bomb - i.e. building nuclear facilities, getting agreements to produce others. But they've also done some things you wouldn't do - i.e. allowing IAEA inspections of uranium enriching sites, and placing multi-monthlong holds on uranium enrichment to allow for time for negotiations. The U.S. continues to insist that Iran's fossil fuel resources mean that Iran has no need of a nuclear power program, since nuclear power would cost them more than their fossil fuels. But aside from that, the U.S. has never presented any concrete evidence of a uranium bomb program, nor has the IAEA ever found any. Without that, I think the only logical choice is to maintain a rational amount of skepticism of the claims of both sides until one of them comes forward with some firm evidence. Sure Iran is just trying to make sure that Tehran has enough light. Dont worry, when they attempt to weaponize the uranium and the Israelies get wind of it. Tehran glows in the dark forever. The END, forget brinksmanship, forget MAD, the minute Iran gets even on the path to building a nuclear weapon Israel makes them cease to exist.
  10. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 01:54 PM) This is why I own a generator. I hook up the fridge and the TV. Its one thing to lose some food in a fridge or to go without electricity for a few days missing out on tv or the computer. But its another thing when your sump pump goes all the time year round, and if you lose power for a while your basement will flood. Forget the destruction to property, you have to deal with mold mitigation and other health issues. I lost power over the summer for a few days and had a backup sump pump going. Of course when you lose power, it starts to rain and rain hard. The backup power was out of juice after 12 hours. So I went up and got my generator. Making sure the generator was running so the pump would go, waking up in the middle of the night scared because you hear the silence knowning your sump pump wasnt going, running down to refuel it and start it up. When the lights finally went on I was thrilled.
  11. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 01:33 PM) mlbtraderumors.com is not a bulls*** site. He does in fact have legitimate sources. And all baseball teams go through tons of proposals and interest in players. Hey maybe I am wrong, who knows. I am a bit sour on it just based on things that happened this week. One of the "sources" he quoted was a fan webboard. It kind of puts a shroud of illegitamacy when a site quotes a fan webboard as a source.
  12. Again that site is bulls***. I liike sweeney. He is my favorite prospect, however I couldnt care less if we gave that up for tejada. It would make our offense pretty stacked for the next few years. That plus our exsiting pitching staff would give us the ability to make a run for a few years. Now the fact that this site mentioned it. I doubt it would happen. Hopefully his "source" is not the mlb.com forums.
  13. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 11:13 AM) not all the time. they use newspapers across the country and use radio shows across the nation as references as well. They do, however when you site a fan message board as an outlet for a "source" for a trade IMO you lose all credibility. Think of all the bogus trade crap and wishful thinking that goes on message boards.
  14. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 11:01 AM) Makes sense for Seattle, they want to beef up there pitching (although Arroyo is not that good) and Patterson is worth the gamble. Makes sense for Boston, they get a player with tons of potential in Reed. Makes NO sense for the sCrubs. Where would Ibanez play LF? He's nothing special, and what would Graff do platoon with Walker? I hope for Graffs sake he doesn't get traded there. MLBTraderumors uses message boards as a source. /end of thread
  15. QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Jan 3, 2006 -> 04:18 PM) http://www.grc.com/sn/notes-020.htm This thing is reportedly pretty nasty and tons of machines are vulnerable. Visiting a website with one bad file on it can infect your machine with tons of spyware even if you dont click on anything. Microsoft isn't releasing a fix for this until next week and it's recommended that you install the WMF patch utility here before then. I also found a video showing how easy it is to get. From the corporate side this sucks. I am less inclined to install a third party patch on my systems(yes they have published the source but I dont have time to take the binary apart to make sure its ok), so we have deregistered that dll via a login script and are blocking any wmf or emf files no matter the extension on the web and via email. This however has had another lovely side affect, I am enemy number one as f***ing with peoples image files and how they view them seems to have pissed off my entire company. Deregistering the DLL messes up how you see image files, so its not a popular thing with our user base. Microsoft has completed the patch, however they are doing extended testing and will release it next Tuesday. At that point those who use WSUS or Microsoft Automatic Updates will get the patch automatically. So far we have seen the infection at my company through the MSN Instant Messenger. People clicking on a link that a anonymous sender sends them. Then basically the same thing happens as that video. The good news on this is that I was denied a new IPS system, that magically got re-reviewed and approved due to this. Thanks Microsoft for blowing dog. If you want to have a safe browsing environment until the patch comes out, go to vmware.com and download their browser appliance and the vmplayer. It is a free self contained linux environment that automatically launches a firefox browser and its all within a 256 meg image file. You can browse without having anything interact with your base OS. It runs under your windows OS.
  16. QUOTE(kdhargo @ Jan 3, 2006 -> 01:16 PM) The latest from www.mlbtraderumors.com (take w/ grain of salt) states the the Red Sox and Orioles have made an initial agreement in the Tejada sweepstakes. "The word is the Tejada-Ramirez/Clement trade has been agreed to in principle by the two teams blocked only at this time with last minute complications caused by Manny." Complications? Manny? Nawww.... Well this proves what a worthless rumor site this is. They use a fan message board as a source for the rumor. What next the mlb.com message boards will be the next credible source. If this is what they use for sources, what is next .DoDg3rsRul3 stated that he thought that Bill Mueller for Mark Prior was a reality. Only a physical is the difference maker. Our sources believe this is credible because DoDg3rsRul3 has 1000 posts.
  17. Dayn Perrys wet dream More straws being grasped. My favorite line is, Five years running the Yankees have been the preseason favorite to win the World Series. This time, they'll come through. Well we should start seeing the preseason predictions coming in. I figure we will be picked anywhere from being champs to fighting it out for 4th place with the royals based on whatever mediot decides to put pen to paper. Lets see what happens on the field.
  18. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 1, 2006 -> 11:51 PM) What other locations were considered for Israel? Well being a kind humanitarian as all Iranian presidents are, He suggested a place with more moisture, the Mediterranean Sea. I am sure that the president of iran and his nuclear scientists are working around the clock to help the Israelies with that problem.. So how bad is it going to suck for gas prices, when the Iranian crazy man decides to f*** with Israel, and Tehran glows in the dark forever.
  19. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 1, 2006 -> 10:02 PM) http://www.breitbart.com/news/2006/01/01/D8ES5HTO6.html Well its nice to see that the "freely" elected president from Iran is f***ing insane.
  20. So basically its a political action committee. Just like all of them huh. Both the Dems and the Republicans have pacs, and both sides have just as much behind the scenes crap around them. Pacs are evil, for both sides of this. Its the shadier side of our lovely system. Conjecture and bulls*** aside, and party lines aside, BOTH SIDES are just to blame. And both sides have equally slimy PACs. Anyone that believes this is a republican thing only is a bit naive.
  21. If the WhiteSox are so amped up on having a speedy guy in CF, just use Owens. Why waste the Count trade on Taveras. Anderson is ready for the majors. He is a KW type guy. If we were so balls to the wall on getting another speed guy, we would of traded for Pierre. He was on the block a month ago. Anderson has a nice glove and a nice arm. He gives us a potential upgrade over Rowand from the bat standpoint and not much of a dropoff if any in the field. Sweeney will be in RF, Anderson will be in CF, and Owens will be in LF in the future. Anderson and Sweeney are also loved by not only KW but Ozzie himself. That mlbrumours website is a pile of dank s***e.
  22. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 08:30 PM) Ya, I forget what it is. I almost thought it was a year, but that is probably too long. Jas, couldnt they leave him as a player to be named later if there was a timing issue, and then complete the deal officially after the term was complete.
  23. QUOTE(qwerty @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 02:13 PM) They will have one of the best pitching staffs in baseball. In other words... yes. They are not a pushover like you are making them out to be. I am figuring ford wil settle in betweem his 2004 and 2005 seasons, castillo will put up .370+ obp, one of morneau or mauer will likely improve...stewart will be better than last year...etc. Mauer needs to stay healthy. He can hit when he is healthy. His power however has not arrived yet. Morneau needs to prove he isnt Russell Branyan.
  24. QUOTE(Felix @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 02:10 PM) Thats not the point. The original point was that they have improved, something you thought no one else in the AL Central had done. The fact that they got Luis Castillo to fill a huge hole at second, Rondell White to improve on Jaque Jones, and a full season of Scott Baker and Francisco Liriano, yes, they have improved. And yea, since their pitching staff is so good, they do slightly worry me. Their projected rotation is Santana Radke Sliva Lohse Baker Liriano will open in the pen or get more seasoning at AAA. They havent traded Lohse yet, so he stays in the rotation. Santana is a stud. We can hit the rest.
