  1. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 11:36 AM) And everybody thought a Cubs World Series win would be the undoing for what remains of this teams fanbase. I am willing to bet that this will do more damage to this team than anything the Cubs ever did could do to us. If we do collapse 100%...boy...that will be FUGLY. Well considering how many times we have f***ed ourselves with the strike and the white flag trade, this will match up well with both of those.
  2. Bmac is impressive. Talk about walking the walk. He goes out in a huge pressure situation and pitches balls out. What stones this kid has.
  3. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 11:14 AM) What are you saying, we're fickle? Duh. Welcome to White Sox Baseball. And while I'm at it, a special shout out to those who b****ed all season long. Bet you all feel better, right? I have been a pretty outspoken critic of our offense. I never thought it would cost us a playoff birth or the division though. My only comment is that I thought that with some medicore pitchers shutting us down during the year that if we competed with some good offenses in the playoffs, I didnt think our pitching style would allow for shutouts. That we would need to score some runs in the post season to get past round one. I always assumed our stellar pitching would keep up, that our defense would be solid and that pods would rip off 80 or more stolen bases. I never saw that hte offense would completely die in August. I never saw the september pitching issues. I never saw dropping series against the terrible royals in september. This offense has frustrated me since the beginning of the season, it makes me ill to see games like last night where Bmac balls up and pitches his ass off only to watch our team struggle to push across one run with bases loaded. That type of performance is what I saw last year against the twins in August. When I watched Carlos Lee falling over trying to park a pitch into the night instead of making contact and getting a needed single. I feel sick to my stomach about how bad this has turned. I always thought that we had the pitching and defense to win a championship here, my only concern was would the offense die in the playoffs like 2000. Right now all I want is the chance for this team to make the playoffs and to see what happens.
  4. QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 10:54 AM) I understand the frustration but team batting average doesn't really tell the whole story. Last year Minnesota had a .266 team average and did ok. This year Tampa Bay is at .274 and Detroit is at .272, I don't see them bragging about it. As for Cleveland, they hit .276 last year and still finished in 3rd place. Their pitching being tops in the AL probably has more to do with it. Our pitching was decent in August. If we hit at all in August we would of had a much better month. Now we had a hard time hitting late in the games. I dont care how good your pitching is, you still have to score more than a few runs to win. This is the AL.
  5. Both of our BA's are now tied at .261 for the year. We are tied for second worst in the AL. Our pitching is great, but we cant hit. Only Seattle is worse than the two teams in BA. Too bad KW didnt try to model us after the Indians. Maybe thats next years Soxfest speech.
  6. The comedic value alone of the Q&A session is worth my money.
  7. QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 10:28 PM) Dear Chicago White Sox, I was looking over some records on this whole Collapse issue and I came across this bit of information. I'm pretty sure this is where it all started (look at the date!). It looks like the Mets really like Shingo at this point and we couldn't trade with them anyway right now. Guys I'm not really sure what we can do with this information, would an apology be in order? Perhaps we could play the Gong Song before games instead of Thunderstruck as a tribute? Maybe some sort of a Rally Shingo? Whatever happened to all those commercials with Shingo anyways? Just trying to help. Good luck on the rest of the season. Grasping at straws, -DK OUr offense died before that. I put the death of the offense at the Cub sox series. We won the first game in a laugher. Then we get shut down by Droopy and 1 hit by a less than great Mark Prior. We then sweep Detroit, having problems getting hits and scoring runs except for one game. We trounce Tampa and their terrible pitching, then get swept by the As to end the first half. We sweep the Indians, then lose 2 out of 3 to the Tigers, then the Boston series, then our offense officially dies. It comes alive during the Baltimore series. Then goes back to sleep for a month like a bear in winter. It then comes alive for Texas then our pitching staff goes to sleep. It then goes back to sleep when the Royals come to town. End of offense.
  8. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 10:24 PM) The Sox have played 18 innings of extra-inning baseball at home this season. They have scored 2 runs. Both were on HRs. You can remove the "in extras" part. There is no ozzieball. Bases loaded and people swinging for the dan ryan. If that is how the florida marlins did it then I was on drugs.
  9. QUOTE(Felix @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 10:20 PM) When we make the playoffs and when we go to the ALCS and possibly the WS, they will all come back and say they were here all along, but supporting silently. I know exactly what I will be doing. I will be riding my rocket scooter to my great great great grandsons house that got destroyed by the laser gun incident. I will be happy and healthy and my robotic body will survive forever. And the greater North American White Sox will have finally won a world series.
  10. QUOTE(Big Hurtin @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 10:13 PM) Better yet. Thats is awsome. I am keeping that one for use when Hawk goes into an our offense is fine rants.
  11. It would be nice for the offense to show up before the end of the season. Tonight would be a good place to start. Its Kyle Lohse, and he is terrible.
  12. QUOTE(Felix @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 09:48 PM) Have you ever said "Great job Sox, you are doing great!!!!1"? Are you for real? Do you smile when someone gives you a kick in the jimmie and say, that was swell, can you go over to the shoe rack and get some steel toed ones and get a running start. We give this team credit when it wins, I have been on this terrible offense all year long because I saw that as the only weakness. I never thought the pitching, defense or speed would abandon us. I thought we were a shoe in for the playoffs and only questioned how far we would go because of the lack of hitting.
  13. Our offense is just fine. They are not popping up or striking out with men on, they are stretching their home run muscles. They are waiting for the next indian series to hit 40 home runs. As Allah as my witness I have seen this. We will drive those wahoo swine into the 5th depths of hell.
  14. Remember the rant last year by Kenny when Carlos Lee struck out with the bases loaded and less than two outs. If I ever see another player try and hit a home run and strike out with less than two outs I will throw up. I wonder if he vomited tonight. Thanks Juan.
  15. They need to majory fix this f***ing offense. We had the best record in baseball in the first half, and it hid the fact our pitching staff was out of their world and our offense blew dog. Watching Uribe with some of the most pathetic swings I have seen in a bases loaded situation since Valentin. There was no way in this world he was just trying to make contact. Everett needs to rest, and he should not be on this team next year. He is old and over. Thanks Dye for your beautiful pop ups. All we needed is a f***ing base hit or a fly ball. Again we like we have all season long, left the bases loaded with less than 2 outs.
  16. QUOTE(Felix @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 09:07 PM) What a fan you are! Remember before this game when everyone wasnt expecting the Sox to even score? What happened, got too used to being in the game? That was against Santana, not Rincon or Crain. But thanks for being an apologist for this terrible offense.
  17. Nice catch Gold Glove. Nice pitching Jenks A BIG f*** YOU TO THIS TERRIBLE OFFENSE. BASES LOADED ONE OUT AND WE POP UP A FEW TIMES. 1 f***ING RUN
  18. We need a simple single. And Dead and Uribe come in to swing for the fences. Anyone who thinks that Uribe was trying to make contact is insane. He was looking for the express lanes.
  19. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 08:13 PM) NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Bob of all people you should have faith.
  20. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 01:38 PM) Look at Bronson Arroyo's pictures. A girl's sitting on his lap. Both him and AJ can expect themselves in the doghouse if their wives get a hold of these pictures. Owner of that blog could have extorted some money from either to keep these photos underwraps. I would rather that they worked in the cage a little more and gave their livers a rest.
  21. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 01:38 PM) It ain't cool bashing AJ's wife. I bet she would find these pictures interesting. Nope, His wife just gave birth. Lets have a little respect here.
  22. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 01:28 PM) ahem... He obviously likes blondes.
  23. QUOTE(Felix @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 01:14 PM) I watch him, and I dont think he's below average. He's pretty average in my book, just because of his speed and ability to get to balls which alot of people don't get to. I can refer you to many plays this year were he just boned it. Go back just a week ago where he turned a fly out into a bad news bears play. Ball hits down fair because he took a bad route, then he dropped the ball, then puss armed it in. Carlos Lee == Pods defensivley Carlos Lee >> Pods with the stick Pods >> Carlos Lee baserunning
  24. QUOTE(Felix @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 01:10 PM) According to the stats this year, Pods is the 2/3rd best defensive LF in the league. According to stats last year, Carlos Lee should of been a gold glove.
  25. QUOTE(Felix @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 01:05 PM) The Sox wanted to add speed, a leadoff hitter, pitching, defense, catching, a solid 2b, and a replacement for Maggs. With Pods, Viz, Hermanson, AJ, Dye, and Iguchi, they filled those needs. Lee is an asshole in the clubhouse apparently with below average defense, and is definetly not what the Sox wanted. Lee vs Pods defensively is a moot point. They both are below average. The only Lee issue I ever read about was with Marte. Who seems to be nuts to begin with. We saved 6 million dollars with the trade that we used for AJ and Gooch. I would of rather have raised the payroll 6 million and kept Lee. 76 million dollars with Lee in the lineup is better.
