  1. I think the ship has sailed on us having any shot at Brian Giles. What we could've done was package Rowand and Marte to some team for a reliever with a reasonable contract, then sign Giles and still be at or below the payroll figure we're at right now.
  2. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 10:50 PM) With Thome in the lineup, I think the Sox could afford to lose abit of the pop if they can't resign Paulie and swing a deal with Marte going to Milwaukee for Overbay....Thats who I still think the Sox should use as plan B Overbay should've been plan A..

  4. Has this trade officially gone through? I heard the Dodgers were willing to offer Guzman and Billingsley which is > than Ramierez and Sanchez. If they are at all able to back out, they should.
  5. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 22, 2005 -> 11:10 AM) BTW Howry to cubs for 12 million. They're really in the market for ex-Sox relievers huh?
  6. That was just the Phillies asking price.
  7. How many starting pitchers do they have now? Schilling, Clement, Beckett, Arroyo, Miller, Papelbon, Wakefield, Lester...

    Anyone camping out for this thing?
  9. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 09:47 PM) My thoughts aren't based off ESPN's. His defense is good. Some people are so in love with Rowand that they think he demands a Delgado in a trade back when in reality, Rowand isn't that good. I'd say Pierre is a better overall ballplayer while being a little worse at defense, but still good enough. I'll take the better, more complete ballplayer over Rowand who just plays the wall close. Pierre could do that too and I bet his ZR would jump up like crazy. You can argue that if Rowand plays so far back, many balls drop in his 'zone' to short center so that would hurt his ZR. Pierre could play wherever and his ZR wouldn't be on par with Rowand's.
  10. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 09:46 PM) .270 .339 .467 .806 $7.5 mil Lowell sucks And saying he's Boston's best pitcher isn't saying very much. .234 .305 .399 $6.25 mil ? sucks
  11. QUOTE(SnB @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 09:05 PM) they got pittsnogled Haha I have a feeling we will hear that term over and over this season.
  12. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 08:56 PM) I'm pretty sure West Virginia just wants this one more than Texas. Pittsnogle can't hit the free throws now..
  13. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 04:16 PM) For the record Pierre had 7 assists last year and Aaron had 3. I'm sorry but this really means nothing unless we know how many chances each of them had to record an outfield assist.
  14. Jerry Owens went 3-for-5 with two steals yesterday for La Guaira of the VWL. Owens is batting .370/.445/.445 in 119 at-bats in the VWL. He tops the circuit with nine stolen bases and is second behind Ray Olmedo in average. Nov. 21 - 3:26 pm et
  15. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 03:34 PM) The SOX have to juggle the 40 man roster to protect some of their young talent from the Rule 5 draft. Gload might be one of the guys to go in that effort. The deadline for setting the 40 man has come and gone. We've protected everyone except Fabio Castro. We should be good.
  16. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 01:06 PM) Am I the only one that doesn't like the idea of swapping Rowand for Pierre? No. I think most of us besides SSH and Soxpranos hate the idea.

  18. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Nov 20, 2005 -> 09:26 PM) And why can't we do both? If Philly is willing to eat enough of Thome's contract, it's certainly doable. Because both teams probably want the same players in trades.
