  1. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Nov 28, 2005 -> 10:38 AM) Those ZiPS numbers still aren't half bad. They're basically Rowand's numbers at a fraction of the cost. By the way, look at Gload's ZiPS projections. Those are insane! Haha, Gload likes to dominate projections as well as simulation leagues. More interesting are Young's projections....
  2. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 28, 2005 -> 10:21 AM) Also, how much of the Bears' success was because they've beaten one team higher than 23rd in total offense? The Bears D is one of the tops out there, no question, but they've been feasting on bottom feeders: Losses: Cincinatti (3rd in O) Redskins (14) Browns (21) Wins: New Orleans (17) Tampa Bay (23) Carolina (24) Minnesota (25) Baltimore (26) Detroit (27) San Francisco (32) Good post.
  3. Anderson's ZiPS Projection Here is a different set of projections which Anderson is included in. These are less optimistic than the ones posted above. I see him doing slightly worse than the ZiPS.
  4. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 02:19 AM) Tag Body Spray for Sick Cats. -- http://media.putfile.com/Tag-Body-Spray-fo...Cats-Family-Guy There is no FCC/standards and practices censor that could ever realize how intentionally hilariously filthy that bit was. (If anybody needs it explained, I'd be more than willing...but I hope the gag was obvious) I love the type of humor that gets around censors like that. How about the time Peter told Lois to be careful around his gun because he didn't want it to go off early into her hair.

QUOTE(The Bones @ Nov 28, 2005 -> 01:02 AM) I think Times A Wastin' is what you're talking about. Great movie, probably my 2nd favorite of the year behind Cinderella Man. Phoenix deserves at least an Oscar nomination for his performance. Thank you, that's the one. Can't find it though..
  6. Does 'stupid' fall under 'irritating'?

    Walk The Line

I have a question. Does anybody remember the title of the song in the movie where Cash called June Carter out on stage and prompted her to sing a duet that she didn't want to because she had recorded it with her recently divorced husband?
  8. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 27, 2005 -> 04:28 PM) No, you don't. Orton has made the plays he's asked to. Now if Orton starts stinking, than fine by me. I don't expect that to happen. Well how short is your leash? Does he have to stink two games in a row, three? Any more than that and we will have a new QB going into the playoffs.

  10. This is one of the most outrageous claims I've seen in awhile.
  11. Did Papelbon use up his rookie status? I know McCarthy did.
  12. QUOTE(DrGiggles @ Nov 26, 2005 -> 10:11 AM) Dude, I don't think the market was too high considering Thome said he was only gonna go to a midwest team that had a chance for success. That would be Cleveland and Chicago. I didn't say many competitors, I said strong competition. Like someone brought up, if the Indians were willing to part with Crisp and Riske for Thome, that's a nice package of major league talent that would help the Phillies in two of their weakest areas. I think KW had to in turn sweeten our deal, the players we sent over wouldn't have been the same if we were just bidding against ourselves.

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Nov 25, 2005 -> 08:20 PM) Can I join? Absolutely. Right now it's me, you, B>W, and kyyle. We need a group sig or something.
  15. QUOTE(WinninUgly @ Nov 25, 2005 -> 08:18 PM) There was very limited competition since Thome had a No-Trade clause and he said that the only 2 teams he would go to would be the Sox or the Indians. You can feel strong competition from one other party.
  16. I'm still upset about this trade and the only reason I believe KW gave up as much as he did is because he felt strong competition in the market for Thome.
  17. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Nov 25, 2005 -> 03:25 PM) I'm 99% sure that's not how they come up with that figure. He had only 193 ABs last year -- certainly not enough to put much stock in. They take his injury into consideration, and what type of player he is -- but it's not just an average of the past two years. To put this to rest, I'm 100% sure.
  18. Gload is into Coheed & Cambria? Knew there was a reason I liked him so much.

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 25, 2005 -> 01:05 PM) Sony is going to take a 300$ hit per unit sold with the PS3, after announcing they will go ahead and luanch it at 400$. Looks like I'll be sticking with Nintendo and their 200$ unit. We are the Knights of the Revolution.
  20. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 24, 2005 -> 11:32 PM) The increases beyond that should be giving guys long term deals, which I could see costing us $5-$8 million, and that puts us somewhere in the low $80's. Guys under our control making >$1 mil who will get raises that aren't official yet: Garland Pierzynski Crede Vizcaino (?) These players will make a combined figure that is closer to $16 million than your ceiling of $8 million, which would put you right at Kalapse's figure.
  21. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Nov 25, 2005 -> 01:32 AM) .241/.379/.535 That right there is Jim Thome's ZiPS projection. Now, I know a lot of you guys aren't really thrilled with projection systems, and that's fine. Let's throw that to the side for a minute. Would you be happy if Thome posted this line? Do you expect more? I think I expect the BA to be closer to .270, but I like those OBP/SLG% numbers. I think the projection above is the floor of what Thome will do for us (so long as he's healthy). I'm fine with those numbers. You left out the most important projection though, 428 AB's. I'm not fine with that.
  22. Was the audio and video not in sync for anyone else?
  23. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Nov 24, 2005 -> 03:35 PM) Pierre doesn't have any power. Screw power. It's the two hole. I want someone who could move the runner over and leave the bopping to the heart of the order. Productive outs rule!
