  1. Did Burnett's start today take him off the market? 7 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 8 SO. Now 3.30 ERA. Contreras with 4.58 ERA. Still think he can't help us?

    Adam Dunn

GAB is actually 10 feet shorter in right than our park, right?
  3. His playoff stats from 2000 and before make his career postseason numbers slightly misleading. That was five years ago. Since then his postseason stats haven't been exceptionally good or bad. I still would not start him above any of our top three starters in the postseason and would be wary about starting him in any game four. He would be better off out of the pen IMO come October because then we don't risk having the problem of 100 pitches thrown by the 4th or 5th inning, and other relievers stay loose throughout.
  4. Ozzie may be taking it too far though. He guaranteed Marte and Contreras they wouldn't be going anywhere. From what we've heard, Marte is a main trading chip in almost every deal.

    Adam Dunn

Huff may be too hard to get because Chuck LaMar is such a douchebag (he offered Dannys Baez straight up for David Wright). If Dunn would come cheaper, this would be the ultimate option. Left handed bat, mashes righties. He's basically the same kind of hitter Konerko has turned into which may turn people off, but he actually takes the whole power/on-base thing a step up from Konerko. Would be perfect to take over if we don't resign PK after the season. I don't know if most of you would rather have a contact hitter in Huff because that is a major weakness in our offense. With Dunn you will have to accept some inconsistency but he will out-OPS anyone on our roster by over 100 points (assuming Frank isn't playing).
  6. QUOTE(VAfan @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 12:46 AM) Let me toss out a name I would consider trading McCarthy for. ADAM DUNN. Agree 100%.
  7. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 08:34 PM) Ick. I hate deadline deals for relief pitchers. They could really come back to bite you in the rear-end, especially if you're giving up a future position player/starting pitcher. Marte and McCarthy for Wagner? Sheesh... that's a tough call. I don't like it that much. I'll just take my chances with Marte if this is the deal. I know it's a very very limited amount of innings, but Wagner wasn't great in 3 out of 4 postseasons with the Astros. Sometimes that can be enough to tell you what a closer's mentality is like in the BIG games.
  8. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 04:26 PM) I haven't browsed through this entire thread, so if this has been discussed I apologize. But why exactly did the White Sox release this information TWO DAYS before the trade dealine? Doesn't anyone realize this makes our need of acquiring another bat more difficult? I notice Bruce Levine broke the news on AM 1000. Whomever told him this should have waited. It's obvious we're pressing for a bat now if it wasn't prior to Frank's injury. Most have felt that the information would've leaked today whether or not Levine broke it at the time he did.
  9. Huff has always raked at the Cell too.
  10. QUOTE(Wong & Owens @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 04:07 PM) It's a joke people, GOSH I appreciated it. Gave me a few laughs. Nice job.
  11. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 02:12 PM) Delucci is a good ballplayer, but he's the classic example of a guy you could overpay ... drastically ... for if you are not acreful. Well we do have one of the smaller fields in the majors, so maybe we wouldn't have to pay too much.
  12. QUOTE(BDavisFutureHOF @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 02:01 PM) Lol -- Ben Davis is my boy! Your handle, my sig, we could go places.
  13. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 01:43 PM) 1 injury to Frank has killed 2 of our seasons........well Maggs was hurt last year too. Basically 2 injuries have killed 2 seasons, wow. This season is killed?
  14. QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 01:01 PM) i think its kind of a stupid rule that trades are allowed after the trade deadline I don't because the rules and regulations change completely.
  15. For as bad as Uribe's been, he has 50 RBI's from the 9-hole. Not bad.
  16. I say we trade for the roast beef sandwich because it can't declare free agency, it's still under Arbytration.
  17. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 09:05 AM) That's not much better than the postseason IS literally belongs to us. "All your playoffs are belong to us." Ugh. How did I not catch that?
  18. QUOTE(SoxFanInDallas @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 08:15 AM) If they somehow could pull off these two trades, I think they would be set going into the playoff's. I like the way you think. The postseason literally belongs to us.
  19. QUOTE(knightni @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 07:05 PM) I was purposely trying to be humorous by replacing 'lightning' with 'thunder', and 'bottle' with 'jar'. It's just lost on you people isn't it?
  20. QUOTE(peanut33tillman @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 06:48 PM) for some of u who hadnt seen this...relax I wish I had a time machine so I could go back to 72 hours ago and be excited about your finding.
  21. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 04:44 PM) He was effective for how many years in Japan? MLB figured him out in 1 year, lmao. Yeah but he was way past his prime even last year.
  22. Yeah we caught thunder in a jar with that guy.
  23. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 01:52 PM) Worst of all, he's a one pitch pitcher. His fastball is straight as an arrow, so he doesn't throw it. Instead, he throws his slider every single time. And eventually, he hangs one, and it gets hit -- hard. Herein lies the problem. He's actually a four pitch pitcher posing as a one pitch pitcher. Fastball, slider, sinker, changeup. Hasn't thrown the changeup since Spring Training and features the sinker very rarely. Either he has some major issues to work out or he's just plain stupid.
