  1. I think Uribe's problem is a new approach at the plate. Remember that article about Frank taking him under his wing to teach him a strategy that revolved around being more patient? Probably not the easiest transition considering he saw fewer pitches per at-bat than most everyone in the league last year.
  2. QUOTE(Benchwarmerjim @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 09:20 PM) hmmm a 3 game win streak 4 more with Detroit You guys are on a roll..
  3. MLB Message Board group? Thanks but no thanks.
  4. QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 10:56 PM) 2. maybe he is going to be a part of a trade and the Sox are showcasing him I was thinking the same thing. Why should we let the outcome of our season get in the way of showcasing Luis Vizcaino to a couple scouts? The answer is we shouldn't.
  5. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 10:53 PM) At a fantastic best, Uribe will be a sorianoed Tejada.
  6. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 10:41 PM) What? You may want to edit. The last him is Cotts.
  7. QUOTE(bigred3535 @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 10:20 PM) The Sox have still won 5 of the last 7...including a four game sweep in Cleveland...calm down. Lost 6 of last 7 at home. Not good.
  8. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 04:47 PM) Supposedly he has an infection from a bug bite and Timo will be patrolling rightfield tonight. Blessing in disguise, no?

    rant for the guys

    Does anyone else use the 45 degree aiming method so as not to be contaminated by splashback?
  10. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 02:16 PM) The only part I didn't care for was when he said that the stadium is always half empty. If the stadium holds 38-39K, and we're averaging 26K (a number that is on the rise, BTW), that's off by 7K -- I'm not gonna b**** and moan about it, but I don't think saying the stadium is "half empty" is very accurate. I don't blame you. Being off by almost 30% is stretching it.
  11. QUOTE(SHAFTR @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 02:43 PM) also, Lowell's K #s aren't high this year. I think he is on pace for a career low. The balls he hit just aren't finding the gaps. It makes me think it's a fluke. His PrOPS+ is -0.060, which is pretty significant. So, you're right, he's been a tad unlucky. Also his AVG, OBP, and SLG have increased each successive month for the last three months. If FLA would eat considerable salary I would contemplate this.
  12. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 11:27 PM) KGJr, Wagner, Guardado. Just a couple of names that come to mind. Meh. That's not like Randy Johnson or Carlos Beltran type kill. Plus we're losing major league talent so does it really offset that much? Debatable.
  13. The market seems so poor that I don't really know what kind of move we could make that could be described as "going for the kill".
  14. Is it just me or does this game need more Timo?
  15. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 03:08 PM) Its a blood bath at third. omg funniest line in awhile.
  16. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 02:56 PM) How long before Paulie's completely bald? Not long. Having to share the field with shortstops not as good as Royce Clayton is so damn stressful.
  17. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 01:02 PM) There will be no chatting for me today, my server at work does not support java. What kind of stoneage bulls*** is that?!?!? DL it.

  19. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 08:35 AM) It doesn't matter for me. I do 99% of my drinking at the tailgate before the game. I can't convince myself to spend for 1 beer what I could buy a six pack for outside of the park.

    Contreras

    If you want to trade Count it will have to be after one or two starts in a row of pitching like he did the start before this. Can you handle that?
  21. Ouch. I hate days where the magic number stays idle.
  22. Holy s*** I thought I was looking at a close-up of the infield dirt but then I realized it was actually a face.
