  1. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 08:33 PM) Hey Jenks ERA is Arnie Munoz-like at 20.25. He's lucky his name isn't Kevin Walker.
  2. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 08:32 PM) In other news, I've changed my sig to reflect my feelings on PK. Sign me up.
  3. QUOTE(Ozzie Montana @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 08:21 PM) Maybe we should send Rowand packing for a pitcher and move everett to left and pods to center? Only if the team will take Rowand's commercial as part of the deal.
  4. Why does the Royals announcer always sound like he is gasping for breath?
  5. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 08:16 PM) If you can't throw your fastball for a strike consistently, it doesn't matter if you throw 99 or 79mph. We all knew that his control was the biggest issue, and it was on display tonight. I said after his first performance, and I'll say it again: If you can use him as the centerpiece in a trade to get a star player which will help this team, you make that trade. It's a great transaction to pick up a player who was released, and turn him into a valuable trade asset I don't want him touching any pressure-filled close games with a 10 foot pole.
  6. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 07:57 PM) Would be nice if there were some fireworks during the game... Maybe we can start shooting them off when we pop up, or strikeout. How many do we have?
  7. That's too bad for the more than capacity crowd that paid to be entertained. At least there are fireworks.
  8. QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 07:52 PM) i hate to say it and i dont want it to happen but i think this game is over Don't go too far out on a limb now.
  9. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 07:13 PM) If the Sox don't win this one, Freddy will mow them down tomorrow, don't worry about that. I know games against the A's or Cubs aren't really "big games" because they don't mean as much as the ones against division opponents, but he may be our best pitcher when we really need a win.

  11. Well Kotsay has 7 assists to Rowand's 2 and has been a part of 3 double plays which tells you a little something about his range. But it gives you an idea of what his arm is like.
  12. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 03:31 PM) So let me just make sure of this... One of the big reasons people have said we can't use El Duque is that he gives up too many baserunners...he has a WHIP of 1.63, etc. Zach Day has a WHIP of 1.83. In a national league pitcher's park. 1. This season's stats are too small a sample size. He's started just 5 games. In those games his WHIP was actually better than Duque's. In 2003 his WHIP was 1.45 and 2004 his WHIP was 1.39. 2. Day = groundball pitcher, Duque = flyball pitcher. I know which I'd rather have in the Cell 3. Day has promise, El Duque has none. He's in his upper 30's and I think he's becoming weaker. Day is young at 27 and has shown to be an above average pitcher in the past with little MLB experience. 4. I have no idea if we could unload Duque's contract on anybody. But Day makes a tenth of what Duque does. 5. Can't say much about injuries because Day has never pitched a full season. But something tells me when Duque comes off the DL he won't spend the whole second half injury free either.
  13. QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 03:21 PM) are you kidding me, hes not that good and picture him in a hitters park, yeah he will do terrific here Who would you take for a fifth starter all things considering? Day or El Duque? I'd pick Day.
  14. Not surprising. Toyota doesn't mess around. Plants worldwide aim for the level of efficiency that they've created and are constently improving. They time their plant operator's exact movements down to TENTHS OF SECONDS in order to figure out where they can cut down on cycle times and improve overall lead time. I don't blame them one bit.
  15. Well now I'm sorely dissapointed.
  16. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 01:43 PM) He's no better than Rowand. I think he has more range as well as a better and more accurate arm than Rowand. But he's now making twice as much as Rowand. His defense alone doesn't warrant such a larger salary.
  17. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 12:52 PM) Colorado Gets: OF Chris Young Nooooooo
  18. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 12:47 PM) Don't wanna read the whole thread; is there anything to this? Seems to be just speculation so far and no moves are imminent.
  19. Outfielder Mark Kotsay and the Oakland Athletics have reached agreement on a contract extension, ESPN's Peter Gammons reports. The deal is a two-year extension worth $15 million. Kotsay cannot opt out of his 2006 contract, meaning the deal runs through 2008. The total amount Kotsay will earn through 2008, including 2005, is $29 million. Kotsay also has a no-trade clause through 2006. Kotsay is hitting .278 with six homers and 43 RBI.
  20. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 11:15 AM) Trading for an average at best pitcher coming of the DL? This doesn't make any sense and then on top of that giving up prospects? I hope not! Average at best? Age 24 - ERA+ = 115 Age 25 - ERA+ = 119 Age 26 - ERA+ = 105 Seems to me he's been nothing but above average, not to mention very young, and very cheap. f*** sending him elsewhere. I've admired him as a pitcher and watched his starts for awhile now, so I'm a little jaded on this issue.
  21. I would absoultely love to have a healthy Zach Day.
  22. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 02:25 AM) that's 200+ per year, you guys are pulling my leg. Well if you and Kalapse aren't going to eat any we have to step up and maintain America's yearly average.
