QUOTE(greg775 @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 06:09 PM) I think Jon is "good" not "average." I wouldn't call him great, though. He is clearly better than average. Your typical AL pitcher over the last 5 years doesn't average 14 wins, 200+ innings, and a 4.40 ERA per season.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 06:04 PM) BTW, Egbert goes for Birmingham tonight. I'll keep you guys posted. He'll probably implode since I'm following him tonite. NO you will jinx him. Huntsville does have a crap offense though.

4/27 Games
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 02:50 PM) What we should do to ensure expectations are riding high on those three is giving them a delightful nickname. Such as that of Danks, Volzquez, Diamond. Worked out well for them. How about GRE? When defined, it means a set of three pitchers who will test opposing offenses to ensure their placement into the major leagues. Haha, very clever.

4/23 Games
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Apr 23, 2007 -> 10:08 PM) at the majors. essentiall the same age as Eggy (didn't look it up, could be wrong there) with a longer history of missing bats. Yeah Egbert is definitely on a more conservative track than most college pitchers but Webb is still 4 years his senior.

4/23 Games
QUOTE(BearSox @ Apr 23, 2007 -> 09:23 PM) Egbert sounds like a similar pitcher to Webb from what I have read... hope he can pitch like him when he makes the bigs. They both keep the ball on the ground, but Webb does it so much better than anyone else. Webb's G/F was 3x greater than Egbert's G/F last season.

4/22 Games
QUOTE(kevo880 @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 10:16 PM) Has Gio only been pitching only like 6 innings every game because his pitch count is so high or what's the deal with that? Almost half of Gio's outs have been recorded via the strikeout. Strikeout pitchers tend to get their pitch counts up earlier in the game as opposed to pitchers who throw to contact. Only because you know a strikeout will require at least three pitches but average close to five. It's different than say Buehrle who will have batters putting the ball into play early in counts and letting the defense work for him.
