Our staff/bullpen definitely doesn't pitch in enough.

QUOTE(BearSox @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 09:43 PM) Richar did not play for the second straight game. Any word on an injury? QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 09:53 PM) I'm onto it, put in to get an update on Richar. Looks like he's starting tonight and hit a home run.

QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 06:49 PM) doesn't this guy on Tampa have an earned run average of over five -- if not six? Yes, but only 4 major league starts.

QUOTE(BearSox @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 06:41 PM) Well, I don't know about you guys, but I am loving the fact that some no name who doesn't have any good pitches is shutting down this offense. Sonnanstine has been underrated his entire professional career. Check out his stats, this kid can definitely pitch.

He has trouble hitting behind in the count and the majority of his ABs pitchers are starting him off with a strike on pitches that are good to hit. He needs to start ripping these so he can work ahead in the count when opponents start being more cautious.

Ellsbury about to step into the box

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 03:23 PM) FWIW, Gammons is reporting the Red Sox won't trade Lester, Buccholz, or Bowden. If true, hang up the phone KW. Then they can kindly go f*** themselves.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 03:06 PM) I never thought I'd be this calm after getting swept by the Cubs. Oh well....at least soxtalk is here for us to discuss things. I kind of like it. Forces Kenny's hand and the casual fan might even be warming to a firesale at this point.

QUOTE(klaus kinski @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 02:54 PM) One umpire just ruled that since the bat broke-he gets another swing lol

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 01:07 PM) Who do you like more, Moss or Ellsbury? I'm not that interested in Bowden -- he looks like a good but not great prospect. He's kept the ball in the yard this year, but his GB/FB ratio is under one. His strikeout rate has fallen from last season although his K/BB is still around 3-to-1. I'm not including Buchholz because I imagine he's untouchable. Ellsbury, by a lot. I would also like Bowden more than Lowrie, despite recent performance. If you don't get Buchholz, Ellsbury, or Bowden, in a Buehrle-to-Boston deal, I think it would be selling way too short in a market that's tilted heavily in our favor.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 01:32 PM) When said catcher catches ball 4 feet in front of you and is blocking home plate, you flatten him and dislodge the ball. you do not try a fancy snow angel slide. Exactly. Luis Terrero barrelling down on Hill full speed would have sent him back to his own dugout.
-
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 12:36 PM) I think Lowrie, Moss/Ellsbury and Wily Mo would be a good return. I would be quite pissed with that return. Especially if the second player was Moss.

That was so f'ing funny. Brownies are bad news.

Damn I want to see that so badly. Hasn't hit our indie theater yet.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jun 21, 2007 -> 08:21 PM) Hum- Stars Great song

The Yankee quote sounds like bitterness to me. I mean to demand a complete NTC in his contract ensures that even if the White Sox do not want him, he can stay. And I realize he can be traded after the season ends. But if he wanted to stay here in the slightest, he would be wise to invoke the clause and not concede an offseason trade. Because when the '07 year is over, all records will be equal and no GM hand would be forced nearly as much in the thick of a race. If his performance were to continue to decline the rest of '07, the Sox might find themselves hard-pressed to move a geriatric who's due $20 million over the course of two seasons. Man I would love to have Count moved for help this deadline instead of Buehrle, but I cannot see it happening.
-
I hate to keep bringing this up, but how convinced are you all that Contreras will actually waive his NTC before this season ends? I'm pretty sure it's complete. Count strikes me as a guy particular about his environment, and he's made it clear that Chicago is comfortable to him.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 10:35 AM) So, I take it you'd say that's worth spending some $ on before I do a 30 hour car drive? It's 10 bucks at Best Buy. No brainer.
-
You've showed better control this year than any year previous. What do you attribute to the improvement in this part of your game?
-
Can anyone guess who this is? Don't cheat.. Just hope that a high draft pick can rediscover his talent, even if it means going all the way back to A ball.

Contreras has a NTC

QUOTE(dasox24 @ Jun 17, 2007 -> 08:35 PM) I must admit that I think yall have convinced me about Betemit since this trade idea was first brought up. I'm still not crazy about the fact that he may be 27 years old, though. Betemit is definitely 25 right now. His age is incorrectly reported on several sites. Baseballcube has the accurate one. The Braves illegally signed him to play professional ball at the age of 14.
