Apples to Apples is funny as hell if you play with good people.

That's why DVD players go to a screensaver which floats some logo around the screen if you leave them. Temporary burn-ins are called ghosting, and are normal. You can run your TV's burn-in program if you have it or just get a snow image on your screen to eliminate it.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 21, 2007 -> 09:46 AM) Besides the burn in, and dying pixels? Burn-in is not an issue these days with the slightest bit of caution (i.e. don't pause your DVD/video game and leave it for a half hour). Plasmas now move the on-screen image to force pixels to transfer colors and reduce the chance for burn-in. You cannot see this movement with the naked eye. Also plasmas come equipped with anti burn-in programs you can run to recalibrate phosphors and further protect your TV. And it is wise to not maximize the plasma contrast for the first hundred or so hours of viewing, because this is the time when phosphors are most likely to burn. For the better contrast, viewing angle, fast motion viewing, and price at larger sizes, plasmas are well worth the small amount of extra care they require to prevent burn-in.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Feb 21, 2007 -> 03:33 AM) Ugh, stay away from Plasma at all costs. Plus Im making an assumption here but I think Red & White likes to play video games atleast sport ones and thats a big no on plasma anyways. Can you please provide reasons why staying away from plasma TVs is a good idea?

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Feb 20, 2007 -> 11:48 PM) My friend works at Best Buy and can get me a solid deal on a TV, something I've needed for years now and am thinking about splurging on knowing that this window of opportunity will close unless I take advantage of it now. Looking tonight, I picked out two TV's that I absolutely loved. Toshiba Sony The Toshiba is currently on sale for $799.99 marked down from $999.99; He can get it down to $599.99. The Sony is currently on sale for $1299.99 marked down from $1499.99; He can get it down to $999.99. At first glance, I'm thinking "man, you can't beat that Toshiba, it's only $600 bucks!" but then I take a double take and realize "man, that Sony is much bigger and I'm getting a third of the price knocked off from the original price. You can't beat that Sony!" What do you do, I ask. What do you do? Definitely don't go with the first one. That's a horrible price, even with your buddy's discount. It's only an LCD monitor. I see no HD tuner included. Here is a 32" LCD with HDTV tuner for $100 less: 32" MAG $1k for the 46" LCD HDTV is pretty good. Do you need a TV this big? For a viewing distance of 12' or less, 42" is sufficient. I prefer plasma to LCD though, and if you watch a lot of sports then plasma is the better choice. Finding a decent 42" plasma under $1000 is not difficult. Actually see what your friend can offer you in that department.

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Feb 12, 2007 -> 10:25 PM) on another fan site of a different team he's a middle of the pack offensive third basemen. Or on this fan site, a couple posts above.. QUOTE(3E8 @ Feb 12, 2007 -> 09:03 PM) But even in his best year at the plate, he's still in the middle of the pack as far as major league thirdbasemen go offensively. I think we've got a nice range of stances on this board when it comes to how we view our players. How the thread turns out just depends on who feels like posting I guess. Difference of opinion is what makes horse racing possible.

QUOTE(bad at best @ Feb 12, 2007 -> 08:04 PM) "Offensively, there's not much of a drop-off (if any) from Joe Crede to Fields right now." i think that statement is outrageous. this is no rip on Fields, but there is no way in hell he comes into the majors hitting .283 with 30hrs and 94 RBI. not even close. this may have been discussed before, can't remember. Well how likely is it that even Joe Crede matches the numbers you just threw out there? Keep in mind, Crede's previous full season highs in those categories are as follows: .261, 22 HRs, and 75 RBIs. Yeah, it's very likely Crede will be better than Fields next season. But even in his best year at the plate, he's still in the middle of the pack as far as major league thirdbasemen go offensively.

QUOTE(BobDylan @ Feb 11, 2007 -> 01:40 AM) Final Fantasy 7 might very well be the best game ever made. I agree with you. The game was unreal in all regards. It got me into the RPG genre, too bad nothing has come close to it since for me.

QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 8, 2007 -> 08:08 PM) Knowing someone who committed suicide and watching their family have to deal with what they left behind... this is total bulls***. Was this person clinically depressed? If so, did you get to experience the mental pain and anguish they had 'to deal' with each day through a chemically inbalanced brain? It seems hard to make a blanket statement such as yours without having the disease yourself.

KW is one of the best GMs when it comes to judging talent, and our pro-level scouts are top notch. If they watched Floyd for multiple outings this fall and could confidently say he would've given McCarthy a run for his money had he not been traded, this is really all I need to know who will win the spot. We have seen KW bring in guys with sporadic to no success in the past who have broken out as White Sox because he knows their true ability. Haeger seems to be the only other probable candidate for 5th starter. He excels at keeping the ball in the park, but is a mediocre pitcher when it comes to everything else. His minor league total runs surrendered are 27% higher than his earned runs due to lack of control, and this makes his stats seem better than they are. As someone mentioned above, I think if Haeger has an equal or even slightly better Spring than Floyd, the spot will still be Gavin's.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Feb 6, 2007 -> 10:00 PM) Any details or info on this? Thanks. My first post should read new Core 2 Duo. Intel is releasing a brand new technology in April, which has many speculating that new MacBooks will be out in May/June to keep with the curve. So, I can't give you any official word if that is what you need. Sorry..

Last I heard is that new Apple laptops will be here Q2 07' (with Core 2 Duo) so I guess you may as well just wait a few months.

"It's no big deal for me either way," Grossman said. "I'm kind of fascinated with everyone's fascination with the shotgun, like it's a play in itself. It's not. It's just a way to get the ball in my hands." Grossman has had plenty of experience with the shotgun -- just not with the Bears. But it's safe to say he's not intimidated with this particular way of getting the ball into his hands. As a redshirt freshman making his first start for Florida in 2002, in a third-and-goal situation during a home game against LSU, a shotgun snap sailed over his head. Instead of catching up to the ball and falling on it for a loss, Grossman scooped it up, turned and fired a nine-yard touchdown pass to Jabar Gaffney. After the game, a Florida win, Gators coach Steve Spurrier called the play "one of the all- time greatest" in the history of football at The Swamp.

The Bud Light RPS commercial was so lame. They just worked around the main idea from last years funniest commercial where the guy claimed his Sprint phone had theft deterrent. I'm with B>W, the FedEx one was the best.

That would totally win on ratemypoo.com

I would make a horrible GM but I'm happy someone else thought I could do it.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jan 29, 2007 -> 11:00 PM) I think what flash wants is a consensus list of the top LH prospects in baseball. The top 6-7, going by what I've seen collected over these intertubes, goes something like this... Elbert (Dodgers) Miller (Detroit) Danks (White Sox) Kershaw (Dodgers) Lofgren (Indians) Gio (White Sox) I feel like I'm missing someone there I've seen most lists put the following ahead of Gio: Donald Veal (Cubs) Troy Patton (Astros) Jacob McGee (Devil Rays) Franklin Morales (Rockies) This rounds out your top 10. -
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jan 28, 2007 -> 06:48 PM) Any doubt he'll dominate? Don't want to upset you more Flash but he's actually their fourth best starting pitching prospect.
