    The OC?!

    I thought I was the only one who could admit to watching The OC.
  3. Here are some numbers which I looked at this morning. The axis on the left represents net payroll change in millions for a new season and goes with the bar graph. The axis on the right represents the percent attendance change in the season before the new payroll was decided upon and goes with the line graph. It is clear that Jerry rewards the fans when attendance increases significantly, which it did this year (+26.23%). In years past when attendance increased over 20%, then net payroll went up at least $25 million. When attendance doesn't change much or even goes down very slightly (less than -5%), then the payroll has gone up around $5-15 million. However when attendance decreases by at least 5%, the payroll has actually been reduced. I think whoever threw out $120 million as a projection for next year's payroll is pretty spot on.
  4. QUOTE(qwerty @ Nov 4, 2006 -> 02:57 PM) Where you two timo backers? How was it enduring two full seasons of a scrub when there where better and cheaper options out there. Let's not say things we can't take back

    The Office

    I'm guessing the actress/writer who plays Kelly wrote that episode. She's written almost all of my favorite ones so far.
  6. On rottentomatoes.com, 120 positive reviews vs 5 negative reviews. Higher rating than Departed. Why did Fox choose to limit the screens so much on opening weekend?
  7. Catalanotto is no good against LHP and our offense against LHP is a main concern for next year. He would be nice in a platoon situation. Catalanotto/Cruz Jr. is an option that comes to mind.
  8. Dave Roberts and Scott Podsednik are both each other's number one comparables on baseball-reference.com. But Roberts strikes out much less and is the more valuable leadoff hitter at this point in time. He seems to be getting better as he passes his 'prime' years which is unusual.
  9. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 27, 2006 -> 11:04 AM) This is a column from our local paper... anyone know the answer? I haven't figured it out myself, so I don't know either. The person probably needed an air tube to assist their breathing and someone just cut it open.

    Fear of Flying

    I'm deathly afraid of the slightest turbulence, not so much the takeoff or landing even though those statistically are the most likely times for problems to occur. I have to fly to Korea in a few months which will be a 15 hour flight that I'm already fearing.
  11. No it isn't. The leftfield power alley is under 360 ft, that's as short as you'll see. Rightfield power alley is 363 ft. Wrigley is pretty much a notorious hitter's park.
  12. QUOTE(TLAK @ Oct 17, 2006 -> 07:09 PM) He'd do a better job too. Have you ever seen his DPBL records?
  13. QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Oct 17, 2006 -> 03:09 PM) And you're supposed to judge players based on their rookie season. Throw out April and May and BA hits .280-.290. Try .251.

    LOST! thread

    QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Oct 4, 2006 -> 08:51 PM) Pictures from my party.... LOST party pictures haha I like those Dharma napkins..
  17. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Oct 4, 2006 -> 06:41 PM) Gio Gonzalez or Fabio? Haigwood
  18. Pat Burrell, career .950 OPS vs. LHP. Plays a below average left field. Definite candidate to be moved this offseason, maybe the Phillies could throw in one of the many talented minor league arms they have if we took on some of that hideous contract.
  19. Dayton Moore is no fool. Dejesus is signed through 2010 and is making a paltry $4.7M in that last year to give you an idea of how cheaply he was signed. Not going anywhere.
  20. Interesting. Kind of gives you an idea of what the standard deviation of each player's production is if you could quantify it. Is there a minimum number of at-bats you decided on to be considered for an 0fer?
  21. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 28, 2006 -> 08:16 PM) I love me some Dodgers baseball it's the only team still alive that doesn't have a player on their roster that I hate. Not even Jeff Kent?
  22. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Sep 24, 2006 -> 10:10 PM) I just registered, is that a good thing or a bad thing? Also, is it locked so that the ratings can't go over 100? Cuz if they could go over 100, that would be awwwwesome wite please take SF, you will enhance our already strong NL West bond...
  23. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Sep 24, 2006 -> 03:05 PM) Maybe another team is willing to give up more now. Take it for what it's worth, but Hawk said a few of his friends who are scouts from other teams said they are definitely going to try to get Freddy this offseason.
