  1. QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Sep 22, 2006 -> 11:52 AM) They did the Pioneer league list today, and the only player to make it was Carter, who came in at #14. McCulloch dominated the league but somehow didn't make the top 20. Did all the others to make the top 20 play in the league for all or most of the season? I think McCulloch only made five or six starts in Great Falls and spent a little more time in the Carolina league.
  2. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Sep 22, 2006 -> 08:58 AM) then he'd be wrong. a 3.77 era and a 1.40 whip in the NL would equal death in the AL... What a complete and accurate analysis you've provided us with. Have you at all considered Willis' prior stats against the American League? Or the fact that a pitcher with a delivery as decieving as his can torment a group of hitters who have rarely if ever seen it for sometimes more than an entire season? Willis clearly is dominant against left-handed batters. In the AL Central, three out of our four opponents most dominant offensive threats are left-handed batters. Cleveland with Hafner and Sizemore, Minnesota with Mauer and Morneau, KC with Teahen and Dejesus (Alex Gordon bats left-handed too by the way). I suppose the Tigers could give him some troubles, but you could schedule him around them as well as possible. You cannot just lower a pitcher's stats from the NL by a certain percentage and claim that's what they will look like should he switch over to the American Leauge. There are so many factors to take into consideration. Maybe some would say his NL numbers are even more inflated by pitching in the deep NL East parks. I'd bet against that somewhat due to his high career G/F ratios. I think Willis would not only survive the AL but probably excel for a couple seasons, especially in the AL Central. I really don't see the pieces matching up though for a trade to bring him here next season.
  3. QUOTE(beautox @ Sep 19, 2006 -> 08:11 PM) Brian break dancing in CF That'll cost him a start. Showoff.
  4. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 19, 2006 -> 07:48 PM) For me, it comes down to who can get you a better package of players back. I wonder what a team like the Mets would give up for Buehrle? Milledge? When you think about it, holding on to Freddy until the deadline of '07 could present a king's ransom. I say this because '07 is a contract year for him which is a huge motivator, we've seen this time and time again, combine this with the fact that he admitted to turning his competetiveness on and off and he won't be stressing his arm in any postseason or WBC games. Teams are always hard up for pitching at the deadline, will pay out the ass for it and it seems more than half the league is a contendeder these days when the time comes. It's risky as hell though.
  5. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 19, 2006 -> 07:36 PM) One positive from this season is that we seem to hit Verlander better than most teams. Yeah that really helps ease the pain.
  6. Great approach by last two hitters. Rogers throws about 75% change up away to righties.
  7. Can't believe he threw a 3-0 and 3-1 change
  8. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 17, 2006 -> 04:12 PM) Why not have PK ph for Thome here? I heard PK's back is hurting him
  9. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Sep 17, 2006 -> 03:53 PM) I know, but with Bradley he appeared more comfortable than facing Chavez or Swisher, for example. Obviously, both of those players are better than Bradley; but this shouldn't be on the mind of a pitcher. He needs confidence to throw his pitches against anyone. There's a good example on Swisher. The biggest problem is he cannot throw all his pitches to righties because it is impossible to throw a side-arm forkball.
  10. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Sep 17, 2006 -> 03:39 PM) Why does Contreras pitch Bradley better than anyone else in this lineup? I swear, the only player he appears comfortable against. Not one forkball has hung, or fastball been thrown away from AJ's spot. Because he doesn't drop down against lefties.
  11. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 17, 2006 -> 03:31 PM) Is that a sick inning or what? Three hits, a walk, and NO runs. We'd still be hitting if we weren't trying to steal with no outs and less than two strikes.
  12. Maybe Ozzie can run us into another out before our power hitters come up.
  13. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 17, 2006 -> 02:58 PM) Uribes BA has plummetted down. While the amount of breaking pitches out of the zone thrown to him has ramped up.
  14. Actually a good job of hitting right there.
  15. Why would you send him? Everyone knows Kotsay's arm is strong as hell and that ball was popped shallow. And I know AJ isn't good at drawing walks but the bases are still loaded and Blanton didn't have great control there.
  16. I don't think the Sox have ever faced Blanton before.
  17. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 02:42 PM) Great....I love smallball. Nothing like playing for one run. In the third inning no less.

    Perfect Pizza

    QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Sep 15, 2006 -> 01:30 PM) In Austin: Deep: Mangia. As close to real Chicago style as you can get in Texas. Thin: Rounders. And a side of garlic knots, please. At 2 am: Hoek's on Sixth St. I actually had Mangia for the first time last weekend, it was horrible. Makes me laugh that they advertise that s*** as Chicago-style pizza. I went to their newer location by Mopac and Parmer though, so maybe they don't have things down yet. You should try Reale's if it isn't too far out of your way. It's a couple exits north of Duval on 183. New York style, but really tasty (order it crispy). Best pizza I have found down here so far. $3 off on Mondays too.
