  2. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 18, 2006 -> 09:06 PM) Is the cowardly lion, Ron Karkovice in the booth? Maybe they'll show him in between innings. He's got to be looking real good these days. Looks like someone took an icepick to his face.
  3. WHEN YOU DROP YOUR ARM ANGLE, YOU TELL THE HITTERS A FORKBALL IS DEFINITELY NOT COMING.
  4. Throw the forkball to right handed batters for God's sake.
  5. He's dropped two against Oakland too. Does he feel bad for his old teams?

    in need of advice

    What these guys said is good advice. Probably feels too difficult and messed up to you right now, but it's stuff you learn as you get older. If she breaks it off just quickly move on.

  9. I'll go with the team that's given up the second fewest runs in baseball.
  10. QUOTE(JohnStamos @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 02:12 PM) Is it just me or does the Fox broadcast seem different? It appears like there's some sort of cinematic camera effect goin on...it's really wierd. I think their cameras are capable of more frames/second because the slo-mo always looks a bit better.
  11. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 10:18 AM) It's an odd scenario. Do you want a guy in LF next year that will hit .260ish with lots of k's/walks, 20+ homers, 15 SBs, big-time RBI potential, but possibly a few errors in left or a guy who will hit .300, walk little, strike out little, play great D, steal 10 bases and have 10-14 HRs? It's an interesting decision that will have to be made. Fields doesn't draw lots of walks now at the AAA level. His plate discipline is lacking and he would not get walks with any consistency at the major league level. I'd bet on Sweeney drawing more walks than Fields.
  12. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 02:46 AM) 2.2 IP, 7 ER in debut. Somewher, Flash is smiling.
  13. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 06:34 PM) Overrated: Player: Crosby (Gammons picked him for MVP,) Beckett, thenDunn (surprised to see a lot Cincy fans hate him) Dunn must get a lot more press than I am aware of, because I have no idea how he could be considered one of the most overrated players in the game. After this year he will have his third 40/100 season at the age of 26 and the only s*** I ever hear about him is from the host on Sportscenter, making some lame joke about how his latest home run hasn't landed yet.
  14. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 01:09 AM) qwerty Too bad he's not into baseball anymore..

    QUOTE(danman31 @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 03:36 AM) Egbert is rolling, he'll easily be a top 10 prospect for the Sox if he puts up similar numbers in AA. I will be watching carefully after his promotion because the Carolina League is pretty weak offensively this season.
  16. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 02:37 PM) By the way, this is why it's not a good idea to try to push Brandon to 200 innings this year. McCarthy has averaged 180 innings pitched per season over the last two years with no issues. Liriano has had prior arm troubles and throws a slider with a velocity over 90 mph. Throwing the slider while moving your arm at that speed puts an enormous amount of stress on the elbow, and he uses this pitch a lot. Up front this doesn't look to be an issue of being overworked, moreso a issue with mechanics and Liriano's frame. There is no way I would look at this incident and limit McCarthy's work had he been a starter or choose to use him in a bullpen role because of it.

    Sweeney hits his 10th home run of the year and it's a grand slam.
  20. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 5, 2006 -> 06:15 PM) Probably my favorite Episode. Puddy IMO was the best character in the show, and everyone is just gold in that episode. I don't know too many monkeys that could take apart a fuel injector.
  21. Notice the two nice K's both on inside pitches. Working in is something this staff needs to do more of as a whole.
  22. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Aug 5, 2006 -> 02:48 PM) How come Scott Baker is no longer mention? He was always lumped in with Liriano the past couple of years. What are the odds that one of Garza, Slowey, and/or Swarzak become the next Scott Baker where they get slurpped before the big leagues, and can't cut it? To be honest I forgot about Baker. I don't think it's fair to say he can't cut it in the big leagues. He's had a rough transition so far, giving up way too many hits, especially home runs (15 in 60 innings??). But the strikeouts are still there and his control is a plus. Over time he will adjust. The Twins have just put themselves in a nice position with a youthful, highly talented rotation that we will see developing over the next couple years. Santana/Liriano is the most dominant one-two and will only be held back by injury. So then there are three spots to fill with five pitchers, and those three spots are traditionally the lowest in terms of talent so there is less pressure. All five pitchers that they have to fill the three holes project as good pitching prospects, while two of them are among the very best in the game.
  23. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 5, 2006 -> 02:10 PM) And all of them could be the next Jon Rauch. Not bloody likely. The only one whose minor league stats are close to Rauch's is Swarzak, and he's on a progression path one year ahead Rauch. Even if he fails to live up to expectations they still have Bonser, who would make a more than capable fifth starter.
