Koronkadonk is one of the best screennames from the Dugout. -
I like your minor league insights

I was a pitcher. I had a two-seam fastball, which actually which had below average velocity but had a nice tailing motion. In addition to this I had three different breaking pitches which all were thrown at different speeds. Each was a variation of a curveball with different grips. I'm left-handed, and had good control of every pitch. I threw a ton of offspeed pitches because kids at the high-school level can't handle them that well. This would be my downfall, the stress on my elbow caused me to get tendonitis my sophomore year. I would never pitch again. I cried when I realized this because being lefty I think I could've gone D-III. I played lacrosse junior and senior years.

Plus he got a three-year extension.

Fun at Wrigley

If you ever see the Tom Emanski commercial again, look for the scene where all the kids a lined up in a row hitting off tees and swing in unison. The kid at the very back nails the entire tee out of the picture and it's funny as hell.

Can we please put the Crede banner back on top?

I've long thought that Jason Bay is the most underrated player in baseball. He got some pub for the streak of six games with a home run, but mainly flies under the radar. I guess that's what playing for the Pirates will do to you. He has 17 HR's and an OPS over 1.000, yet isn't in the top 15 in OF all-star voting and trails such players as Juan Pierre and So Taguchi.

The best notebooks are macs. But it sounds like you just need something servicable, in which case you don't need to spend anything near $1500 really. I've had good luck with Dell in the past.

Its Time For The Josh Fields Era To Begin...........

QUOTE(Thunderin @ May 31, 2006 -> 01:44 AM) the 1.021 OB% If he's getting on base more than humanly possible, maybe he should be called up. -
I want to know why Indian-killer Ross Gload didn't get an AB.

QUOTE(beautox @ May 30, 2006 -> 03:27 PM) The new AFI = X3: The Last Stand....FTL. I've been huge AFI fan since "answer that and stay fashionable" and i really liked their last release "sing the sorrow" but this...this is utter crap; an abomination. Glenn Danzig and Jeff Pezzati would be turing over in their respective graves if they were dead. When I heard 'Miss Murder', it hardly sounded like Davey at all. What's your biggest gripe with this release?

QUOTE(T R U @ May 30, 2006 -> 02:40 AM) Home: 1-0 2.75 ERA Away: 3-2 7.83 ERA This can be explained. There are three home starts, 2 against Kansas City and 1 against Oakland.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ May 29, 2006 -> 04:04 PM) 6-3 record 3.86 ERA And he likes pitching at the Jake, 12 IP, 0 ER.

One of the best if not the best at-bat of the year for Uribe.

QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ May 29, 2006 -> 01:52 PM) I think the server just s*** a brick. The server just had a Garland inning

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ May 29, 2006 -> 01:21 PM) Why? He got lucky. He swung at the first pitch, as usual, and the second basemen made a bad play on a semi-tough one to get, but he should have. Uribe needs to SEE a damn pitch or two before hacking away. Good inning overall though! GO SOX! At least he took an outside pitch to opposite field which is nice to see instead of trying to hook everything.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ May 28, 2006 -> 10:52 PM) Garland's problem was giving up too many flyballs today. He's a damn sinkerballer, not Eric Milton. He's giving up too many flyballs this season in general. His G/F ratio is under 1 after these 10 starts which may have something to do with the OPS against him being over 1.

QUOTE(whitesox1976 @ May 28, 2006 -> 05:04 PM) It's a little embarrasing to lose 2 of 3 to Toronto but at least we salvaged a win. Tampa Bay was embarrasing, these guys hit like madmen at the Skydome and have a team OPS pushing .900 at that place.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 28, 2006 -> 07:28 AM) Zumaya could turn into our own version of Neal Cotts. A few years back you're pretty sure he'll be in our rotation some day, but he becomes so valuable as a set-up guy, you just don't to move him from that role he's suceeding in. The two situations are a bit different. Cotts would be in the rotation if he was suited for it, but he's not. He has two pitches that are good but not electric with less than great control. That would not cut it as a major league starter. It isn't like the bullpen is holding him back from being a rotation. That's just his peak. Zumaya has phenomenal numbers coming up from the minors and like Cotts I don't think he has a solid third pitch although last I heard he was working with one coach on a change up. His stuff is that much better than Cotts' that he may be able to succeed as a starter in this league with just two pitches and maybe a third pitch filler. At least I think the Tigers should give him more of a look in the starting rotation than we gave to Neal.

QUOTE(Friend of Nordhagen @ May 28, 2006 -> 02:42 AM) It's about the trend line. Forget July. Forget your 5 hits. Are you seriously telling me that you want a .170 hitter as your starting centerfielder in OCTOBER? Yeah, 'cuz of all those championship teams that had those .170 hitters as starting players, all those defensive whizzes like, uh, well, er . . . Well, I guess Bud Harrelson hit about .200 for the Mets in 1973. So, yeah, I guess you're right. I'm telling you that I don't want to declare a cutoff point for Anderson's average a month or two from now that determines if he's up or down. I want him to get a full season of consistent playing time under his belt to develop a proper offensive approach at the major league level. What your ultimatum would not account for is that Anderson may progress offensively in the later months in the season, because before this year he's proved he can quickly adjust to increased pitching talent at every level of his professional career. This team is the least reliant offensively on Brian Anderson and everybody knew this coming into the season. I'm not thinking about our lineup for the postseason at this point in time and if Anderson's batting average will be good enough for us to win a World Series. I'd like at this time to concentrate on the best method of adjusting our centerfielder to major league pitching, and not give up on a rookie 100 or 200 at-bats into the year, because I think he is who we should focus on grooming for this role. Kenny probably feels the same way seeing as how he traded Reed, Rowand, and Young in a time span of a year and a half.

QUOTE(Friend of Nordhagen @ May 28, 2006 -> 02:07 AM) Kalapse, my man, I've said it: if Anderson hits .210, he's my guy. And I'm willing to give him more time, too. But by the middle of July, if our friend from Tucson is hitting .165, he cannot -- and will not -- be this team's centerfielder. That makes a lot of sense. I agree, if Brian Anderson, our 9 hitter, has 32 hits by the middle of July instead of a much more suitable 37 hits, we should go out of our way to obtain a player whos offensive worth would be such a small increase, if any, over Anderson's that the downgrade we recieve in defense actually puts us in a worse position.
-
Ozzie starts the season by benching Anderson only against tough right handed pitchers. Then Mackowiak slowly starts being favored over Anderson even against mediocre righties. Now we've come to a point where Brian only gets put in the lineup when a lefty is on the hill, and Guillen is frustrated because BA isn't getting good swings just 100 at-bats into the season. This one game on, two games off regimen that we've reverted to for Anderson really seems like an ass-backwards offensive development process to me. It's no surprise to me that BA can't develop a consistent approach with at-bats that are becoming more sporadic by the week, especially with what like 30-40 major league starts under his belt? As some have hinted at this could be motivational ploy, and I hope it is, because if Ozzie is serious this would be a completely rash and uncalculated move, especially since Anderson hasn't missed a beat in center and every backup we have is a poor fielder.

QUOTE(JackTalkThai @ May 27, 2006 -> 09:00 PM) The replacement for Mike Maroth... Thanks. I'm surprised the organization feels that his future is in the bullpen after averaging 6.5 hits and 11 k's per nine through his minor league career with no relief appearences which I think was all accomplished by the young age of 20.
