  1. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jan 28, 2006 -> 09:39 AM) I am a huge fan of the renovations that have taken place over the last few years. Instead of just being a ballpark, the Cell has become the White Sox park, with its own taste. I honestly believe, call me a homer if you will, that the Cell is one of the top 5 ballparks in the league. I love that place. I agree and it's THE nicest park when it's filled to capacity. It's really gone shine this upcoming season.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jan 27, 2006 -> 10:23 PM) See, this is why I will never offer a true opinion on Rap songs. That's considered "bad" Rap...right??? For the life of me, I can't figure out what makes that one bad...and another one good. I'm sooooo ignorant on that style of music. I was the same way about jazz for a long time. It all sounded like 6 guys playing 6 different songs at once. There is rap and then there is hi-hop. K-Fed is rap, Eric B. and Rakim is hip-hop. It's like any style of music KG, you have to listen to a lot of it to develop any basis for comparison......and it's not on the radio or MTV. The more music you listen to, the less lilely you are to be impresssed by something mediocre. I'm not sure how much you've listened to, but I bet you'd develop at least an appreciation for it.
  3. Thome will be fine. His injuries, as far as I know, are not reoccuring or nagging like Frank's foot. He has been hitting 4 times a week and should be ready to report with pitchers and catchers.
  4. One of the biggest complaints about USCF was that it was too drab. For a while, the only things in that park that had any life to them were the blue seats......and then people b****ed about those. Do the green seats look nicer? That's a matter of personal taste, but you can't tell me dark green is not more drab than a bright blue.
  5. QUOTE(SAVVY18 @ Jan 28, 2006 -> 02:03 AM) I got home a little bit ago and I thought the whole event was poorly set up. I mean waiting over 2 hours just to get into down the stairs to get to where they took tickets was a joke. Then once you actually made it in there all of the lines for the early signings were already blocked off because each player was only signing a couple hundred autographs. I mean several thousand people were there and they had what 6 players on hand to sign for 400 - 500 people. Great...that takes care of 3000 people at the most. What are the other 4000 + supposed to do? And since it took 2 + hours to get in, there was no way you were going to experience any part of the opening ceremony. Why couldn't they place audio and video equipment out where the lines were so everyone could experience it? Or better yet, have it in a place that will hold everyone who wanted to be there for it. They knew how many tickets they sold, so they knew how many people they had to account for. And why the hell did they open the doors so late? You know it's a huge crowd, so open the doors 2 hours early to let everyone in BEFORE things get started. Not so people miss over an hour because they are stuck in the line to get in. And when I got there there were 3 ticket takers. For 7000+ people?!?!? And the signage was terrible. I had no idea that there was a bunch of stuff going on downstairs. We just happened to wander down and saw all of that stuff. How about a map telling you what was in each place. Yes they gave you a sheet that said player X would be on stage 3, but where the hell is stage 3? And you would think they would get with their sponsors and get together a "goody bag" of Sox stuff to give out as they took your tickets. It's a fan convention, so maybe they should cater to the fans a little more. And IMO, all of the players should be required to be in attendance each day and have all of them signing at 15 different stations, not 4. Rotate them in and out all day/night long. Keep the lines moving and take care of every one, not just those who happened to be one of the first ones in line. I guess I just expected more out of Soxfest than what I got out of it. It's a first class organ-I-zation, but they didn't put on a championship event. Welcome to Sox Fest my friend. Those were my exact thoughts the one and only year I attended. It's a racket that caters only to those who spend the loot to stay at the hotel for the weekend.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jan 27, 2006 -> 05:16 PM) I dont know about that. You should google the name of the song "PopoSao" and Kevin Federline's name. DJ's across the board have ripped it, and have said they wont play it because of how bad it is. Sometimes star power(even spousal star power) isnt enough to overcome bad music. You're forgetting 13 year old girl power.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jan 27, 2006 -> 04:54 PM) Start at HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, and finish with a flurry. That song is so friggin pathetic that its funny. ....and he's pretending to LUUUV it, that's even funnier. The sad part is, that s*** will probably sell. I have to remember not everything that gets on the radio and consumed by the masses is trash

HOLY s***, where do I begin?
  9. Lazy people should be kicked square in the ass. People who ride the elevator DOWN 1 floor. I can understand riding it up 1 floor, but if you stood at the top of the stairs and leaned your head forward, gravity alone will almost pull you down the f***in stairs. Perfectly healthy people who stand in line dowtown to use the 'ramp' at the edge of the sidewalk instead of (gasp) walking around and taking one step up onto the sidewalk.
  10. How big a thrill is Frank gonna get watching the Sox go their usual 2 for 8 in Oakland this year?
  11. I'm neutral toward Oprah, but I think it's funny how all the haters are jumping all over her about this. When you read a book that is non fiction, do you assume everything in it is true or do you question it? I'm not familiar with her whole Book Club thing. Does she have a responsibility to verify facts?
  12. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jan 27, 2006 -> 07:34 AM) I've just chased the biggest possum I've ever seen in my backyard with a broom. Fun Times. I'm scared to DEATH of those things. My in law's had one camped out on their front lawn once, I refused to enter the house. I'm a total city boy.
  13. Frank said had he known the Sox were gonna get rid of him, he wouldn't have thrown out the 1st pitch in the WS. He also said he knew he was gone back in SEPTEMBER when he tried to come back and KW put him on the 60 day DL. Makes perfect sense. Frank, quit clowning yourself and go.
  14. Is there more than one Harry Caray's restaurant? Because the one downtown has always been and still is a Cub fan hangout......and that ain't changing.
  15. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 05:19 PM) Lets be honest Los, there is a chance you could be drunk. No way, I've been back from lunch for over 4 hours. Seriously, I don't have kids, so I see that this hit a nerve with those that do. I also am not aware of poeple's history with Juggs, but some of the replies to him seem kinda judgemental and harsh.
  16. OK, it's only 4:15 so I can't be drunk yet. Is this thread for real? WOW.
  17. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jan 25, 2006 -> 03:39 PM) Maybe once she's out of junior high.
  18. QUOTE(Iwritecode @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 12:39 PM) A little off-topic but there's a comedian named Mike Sweeney that has a hilarious skit about Sallie Mae. He talks about how the US hasn't been able to find Osama Bin Laden yet. Then says "Why don't we just turn his name over to the student loan people? Problem solved!" "They found me in a bar shooting pool in Puson Korea. Three people the world knew where I was. Then the bar phone rings." "Sweeny-San!" "A phone call for me? Hello?" "Hello, Mike Sweeney?" "yes" "Hi, this is Jenny from Sallie Mae." "Wha? How did you find me?" "We matched you DNA with some spit we found on a beer bottle in the jungle." Good stuff/
  19. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 01:08 PM) Oy, we're gonna start this, huh? :lol Oh, there are so many. I'll skip the obvious and go right to one that is getting my goat right now...Madonna. She goes ON TV and tells the people that she won't let her children watch TV because of all the crap that's on TV. Um...hello...don't you realize that you ARE ON TV!!! So you taketh, but you don't giveth. Interesting. Also, Austin drivers...maybe it's just like this in Texas, but I have NEVER seen such horrible drivers in my whole life...and I learned how to drive in Chicago, around Devon, if you know what I'm sayin'! LOL, Devon Ave. is like another country.
  20. You are a Porsche Boxster! Not a bad car, hate the description that went with it though.
  21. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jan 25, 2006 -> 08:31 PM) Intentional reinforcement of stereotypes for the following: -Ethnic: no -Gender: yes -Sexual: yes Byproduct of environment: -Ethnic: yes -Gender: yes -Sexual: yes Sorry to disappoint you Los. But if you're seeking social conceptions of common stereotypes, This post has been edited by the Soxtalk staff to remove objectionable material. Thank you. Moderator note. Sorry Flash, but even though its in green and your intent was innocent, I just can't let that stay up on this board. I don't want to run the risk of a guest misunderstanding what green means here. LMAO .... I'm not disappointed at all.
  22. QUOTE(knightni @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 01:30 AM) Harry Caray was the White Sox announcer before the Cubs. We know, so what? He's a Cub icon and they can have him. Why the Eff is WS stuff at that restaurant??
  23. The ball Paulie hit for a grand slam in the WS and other Sox stuff is on display at Harry Caray's restaurant.
  24. (Los grabs some popcorn and a six pack) This should be good.
