  1. QUOTE(fathom @ May 27, 2005 -> 09:19 PM) Dusty said it did hit him directly on the elbow. Busty will resign before the end of this year.
  2. QUOTE(Steff @ May 27, 2005 -> 09:19 PM) Are they retarded or what...? MJ&H reported he went by ambulance... joked about Bruce putting on a Dr's coat and riding along. :rolly Nah, just Cub fans trying to put a positive spin on it, it's part of denial.
  3. QUOTE(Steff @ May 27, 2005 -> 09:15 PM) He arrived at Northwestern via ambulance with his wife and trainer. That sounds right.
  4. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 27, 2005 -> 07:47 PM) Someone did say it was his right arm that he got hit on FWIW. Is he a rightie?....it's the Cubs, I don't know that kinda s***.
  5. Um, is it his throwing elbow? any update? how did Busty look?
  6. QUOTE(DABearSoX @ May 27, 2005 -> 06:58 PM) A bowling Ball is going to fall at the same rate that a marble does.....FYI It's the alliteration that makes it effective.
  7. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ May 27, 2005 -> 06:53 PM) Well of course not. I think what you see from PK is the real PK when he doesn't have massive protection in the lineup. If Frank isn't in there, and Carl isn't hitting in back of him, PK is screwed. Like I've said since 2003, Paul Konerko cannot carry an offense. He's best suited when he's the #3 power hitter on the team. He is useless otherwise. I don't like Gload that much at all, but hell, bring him on. Even with the injury. I wish Gload, Ozuna and even Willie would get hotter n s***, just to put some pressure on Cruddy, Palsy and Urine.
  8. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ May 27, 2005 -> 05:24 PM) This pitching staff with last year's offense would've won the division by a large margin. The only reason and I mean only reason we're winning is because of pitching. This offense minus Pods and Gooch is a dissapointment Last year's offense before Maggs and Frank went down maybe. Not the feast or famine garbage we saw after that. Guys need to be benched and Walker needs to be on the hot seat. This is not our 1st year with a wierd, underachieving offense.
  9. Hillary vs, R. Juliani in '08, if so, Hillary has no chance, book it.
  10. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 27, 2005 -> 04:50 PM) Nope, you take the deal for a guaranteed World Series regardless. It has almost been 100 years since the Sox have won a WS so why would you not take the deal? It would be worth it to suck for a long time if it guaranteed a WS because this has already happened. Yep, I don't know about going into the toliet for another hunded years, but 10 years, I'd be ok with that. Think about how much mileage you'd get out of winning a WS in this town. Shoot, people STILL talk about the '85 Bears, like it was a few years ago.
  11. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ May 27, 2005 -> 04:36 PM) Totally agree with you there. The suggestion that our hitting is fine based on the quality of our record is insane. We have 3 regulars (Pods, Iguchi, AJ) who have lived up to or exceeded expectations. The rest have all had dissappointing seasons (to put it mildly); I don't see how they could be defended. Here's the batting averages from yesterday's boxscore after the first 2 spots in the order: .262 .237 .237 .264 .232 .212 .234 .273 .257 .189 :puke The semi-respectable .273 belongs to Willie Harris, BTW. It's really a miracle we're in first place with that type of lineup. EDIT: We're LAST in all of baseball with a .234 BA against right handed pitchers. that's what people look at when they say we're not as good as our record, or that we'll come back down to earth.
  12. QUOTE(Finkelstein @ May 27, 2005 -> 04:01 PM) Next year's opening day lineup: LF Podsednik 2B Iguchi RF Ichiro 1B D Lee CF Crawford C Olivo 3B Figgins DH Pierre SS Furcal Speed and Defense!!! Payroll for 2006 with that line up?
  13. QUOTE(Steff @ May 27, 2005 -> 03:53 PM) IIRC.. took us about 6 hours. Whatever you do.. DO NOT SPEED within the city limits on the expy. Jim was going 8 over and they tagged him for a $95 ticket. And if you can swing it.. stop at Cedar Point on the way home. Awesome coasters if you like that kind of thing. Heck yeah, Cedar Point rules !!!!!!
  14. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ May 27, 2005 -> 03:24 PM) To me that just shows how good Pods really has been this season. ...don't forget Gooch. Maybe KW didn't clean house enough.
  15. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 26, 2005 -> 06:10 PM) See, heres the thing. I would trade BMAC, realistically to get several players. I would trade him to get another ACE starter, like clemens. If it comes down to us needing to hold off the twins coming down in the stretch in September, I would easily trade anyone to get clemens or someone of that nature. We need 2 bats, starters is the least of our problems.
  16. QUOTE(nvxplorer @ May 27, 2005 -> 02:54 PM) I read yesterday that the Sox lead the AL against left handers - .299 I don't know how it breaks down by player (if someone knows where to look, I'd appreciate it). As mediocre and sometimes awful as the batters look out there, they hit lefties a ton. I guess this is to be expected with the abundance of right handed hitters, but I still find this stat to be very strange, considering the overall performance of the offense. Yep, so it should be a factor to consider when looking to trade or pick up a guy before the deadline.
  17. QUOTE(Finkelstein @ May 27, 2005 -> 02:22 PM) Rowand .262 Konerko .237 Everett .232 Dye .212 Crede .234 Uribe .237 Thank God we can pitch... That won't last and that's not a crack at our pitchers. It is too much to ask of them to be lights out every time. When does the O finally step up?? This description seems to fit 6 of our 9 hitters: well, you know he's a streaky hitter, but once in a while he'll do something clutch and really huge for us and he has potential, it's just a matter of time til he gets going. It seems we've been hearing that for 4 years about too many of our hitters. We thought it was the players, so we shook things up and brought in a new batch. Now it's the same f***ing thing again.
  18. In late June, package up a few guys and look to make a deal. Even though they look like s*** right now, Crede, Konerko, Everett, Viz, Cotts and even Dye should have some to a LOT of trade value. I wouldn't slit my wrists if any of them were dealt. Not to mention Frank will be back soon, so someone will be expendable anyway. The question is, do you make a major shake up of a 1st place team, that late into the season?
  19. I don't blame Contreras or Oz, but I have never seen a manager come out, talk to a guy and the very next pitch gets killed. Our offense blew it, plain and simple. Let's not start putting all the blame and pressure on our starters. They've been our salvation. Are we gonna turn into a team, whose starters have to give up less than 2 runs in order for us to have a chance?
  20. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 26, 2005 -> 08:38 PM) Didn't we already talk about this guy and came to the conclusion that he sucks. Yep and the verdict is still out on Shingo.
  21. I don't believe you. girls around vs. no girls around? No contest.
  22. I can't imagine what HS life woulda been like without there being girls at the school with me. Surrounded by other guys for like 7 hours a day? f*** that.
  23. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 26, 2005 -> 07:04 PM) I love Hawk as well, but I think Rooney and Farmer as so much better to listen to, they are the best in the biz as far as I am concerned. If they did TV too, I would be happy. I would LOVE for Rooney and Farmer to switch with Hawk and DJ.
  24. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ May 26, 2005 -> 06:03 PM) "Heavy Sleep, the Cousin of Death." - Charles Sackville, Earl of Dorset, (1638-1706) English courtier, poet and soldier Charles Sackville...hes the man... I had the feeling it was too deep for Nas, thx for the search.
