Sounds like she had a very, very bad attorney.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Feb 14, 2007 -> 07:33 AM) That's true. They have already started tuning up at The Whiskey, that's where the beginning tour announcements came from. But I still would expect them to do the small venues the way other BIG acts do, with a fake name. I would also bet those shows would be a little tough to get into. Yeah, those shows are always just for the presss, 'friends' of the band, label, the venue etc.

QUOTE(knightni @ Feb 13, 2007 -> 10:18 AM) Just because you're not from the South, doesn't mean you can't sing it. Who's more Southern, Limp Bizkit from Jacksonville or Shania Twain from Canada? What if you ARE from the south, but don't sing it. REM anyone? QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 13, 2007 -> 10:54 PM) The choice was Shania Twain or Limp Bizkit, I'll take Limp Bizkit I'll take Shania Twain.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Feb 13, 2007 -> 01:33 PM) Well, I don't think that is even a remote possiblity with a show by The Police. Ah, Ah, Ah, not so fast. Rumor has it they plan to tune up at The Whiskey and might throw in a few other small venues along the way. Besides, two weeks ago ANY show by The Police was a remote possibilty.

Luckily, I've never had anyone even remotely close to me pass away. I've only been to two wakes and those were well into my adult life. I remember my knees were knocking and I felt light headed as I stood next to the casket both times. Maybe if I'd had the experience at a younger age, I would have been able to handle it better. Your daughter sounds like she has a good understanding of what has happened.

Ahem, I'd like to throw in Stevie Ray Vaughn and Double Trouble and The Black Crowes.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 12, 2007 -> 11:40 PM) Couple chime-in comments in this Police discussion: Big lifelong Police fan here, but more partial to the earlier stuff. Outlandos D'aMour is probably in my top 5 rock albums of all time, and I liked each successive album just a little less than the last despite the fact that as far as the musicianship, composition, and production value each new album was an improvement on the last. I'm right there with Critic's comments about "Stinging It", but also right there with Los' remark that a good musician who doesn't want to be bored out of his skull is going too mix things up like that. Adam Duritz was always that way with the Counting Crows stuff as well so he wouldn't shoot himself after singing the same thing the same way for the thousandth time. Vocalists who can do that and do that As well have always impressed me. As far as Mr. Sting's early forays into "Stinging It", I think a lot of that was a solo career branding effort, taking his compositions that had already been done the Police way and putting the stamp of his new "jazzy" bands on them. And I think he did it quite well on songs like Bring On the Night and Shadows In the Rain. The latter song in particular is recognized by almost everyone as a rocking Blue Turtles song from that first solo studio album, but it takes a minute before most people realize it was originally a fairly forgettable Police number off Zenyatta Mondatta. Stinging It wins the day on that one. As far as a reunion,I'd love to see the police live in a reunion show, but I'm not going to break the bank doing it. I don't hate on 'em the way some people seem to, but I do agree they have been pretty much in retread mode in the decade or so since BloodSugarSexMagic. Very well put. The first two or three Police records are classics, the later stuff blew...but that's true of most bands. 'Bring On The Night' is one my all time favorite live records and concert films. People forget Sting was a Jazz singer before his Policee days. So far, I haven't seen any tour dates near me.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Feb 12, 2007 -> 08:52 PM) The popularity of the Chili Peppers has always confused the hell out of me. Plus, what the hell is Flea always jumping around about? Doesn't he hear that they play quite possibly the most mellow music this side of Burt Bacharac? I swear, it just looks f'ed up. AMEN. Most people don't realize they formed in 1983. They were pretty cool up until about 1986, then the suckage began. That's a looooooooong time to be stuck in suck mode. But hey, the records and tours keep selling

QUOTE(needauribe @ Feb 12, 2007 -> 11:32 AM) Someone on here, toward the end of the 06 season, said Selig was rearranging tv schedules so we wouldnt have to deal with the WCIU BS in 07. Maybe he was too busy selling out to directv. 25 games now??? PISSED. Big Uribe fan eh?

QUOTE(The Critic @ Feb 12, 2007 -> 12:43 PM) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6sHXCs84iJc Police last night. Pretty good, except for Sting not hitting the notes on the chorus and that goofy re-working in the middle of the song. My wife and I call that "Stinging" a song. When someone changes their own song until it's not even the same song any more. that's Stinging it. .....and also the sign of a really good musician. Nothing is more boring than artists who play their songs the exact same way as they sound on the record, tour after tour, show after show, year after year. I finally saw it, so nice to hear Copeland again. Crowded House is getting back together for a tour. Not a band I like, but just an FYI.

QUOTE(bmags @ Feb 12, 2007 -> 11:26 AM) god i hate the grammys. what a joke. "you won the best song of the year award!!!" ... rriiiiiggghhhttt. C'mon, Silly Peppers won like 12 awards last night, I just noticed this last night, does Anthony Keidus have a lisp or some kind of speech impediment??

HELP. Alright, this is driving me nuts. I can't find the video from last night, nor can I find the press conference where they announced the tour dates. I'll hop on a plane and pay top bucks to hear them again.

I missed The Police. Anyone have the clip somewhere?

My wife is lactose intolerant so she drinks that Lactaid stuff. That stuff is actually pretty good. Slightly thicker than 2% and has subtle sweetness to it.

I'm not a cheap ass, but some of the food pricing around here shocks me: The average price for a six pack of Miller Lite is $6.99 at the grocery stores around here.....in cans and room temp. Oh and the liquor stores don't carry wine. You have to get that at a grocery store or wine shop. Wierd. Bought a medium size sandwich and a Gatorade from Togo's today, $9.86.

One of the most fascinating things about moving out here for me has been how huge and how close the stars look at night, so I spend a lot of time looking up at night. On a couple of ocassions I've seen some really inetresting things moving around in the sky. Not just the speed at which they move, but also the patterns in which they move.

QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 10, 2007 -> 02:03 PM) Supposedly he is playing in NYC this summer. The way it was presented to us it is not a tour. I'm going to try to get to it. I've always wanted to see him in concert. You can't beat that. Bowie AND New York City? Sweet. Are the Sox there during the same time?

A few tips I've heard from people who have had success. One way to eat smaller portions is to eat really slow. I read somewhere that it takes about 15 minutes for your stomach to send the signal to the brain letting it know that it's full. Most people eat way too much food in those 15 minutes and then the signal gets to their brain and they feel REALY full beacuse they've over eaten. Have you ever been to a restaurant and it took forever for your entree to arrive? In the meantime, you've had a soup, salad, water and bread. Don't you sometimes feel like at that point you don't even need the entree any more? That's because you've allowed enough time for your body to realize it's had enough food. You'd be surprised how little food you can get by on. Ask for a 'to go' container before you're entree arrives. As soon as you get the entree, divide your meal in half. Most people eat as much as they can and IF anything is left, they take it home with them.

Move over Beckham, this lady is ready for MLS.
