QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 2, 2013 -> 06:09 PM) Well, he is our 2nd leading home run hitter. What a boring, awful offense. We both know his job is to get on base in that situation.

Blah I hate seeing a swing on 3-1 down a run in the 9th. Probably was a ball too. Where's the take sign ?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 2, 2013 -> 05:55 PM) The Tigers were somewhat desperate and probably overpaid to get a guy who can fill their shortstop hole right now, they were even willing to sacrifice offense because they could get that elsewhere in their team. I know why they wanted him . Peralta upcoming suspension and willing to plug SS with D since they have plenty of hitting. I wanted him because I wanted an elite glove who could turn out to be a better hitter than people think. I know Boston sold high but we'll see how he hits going forward. Maybe Sox don't see SS as that big of a position of need with some middle infield prospects on the farm .

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 2, 2013 -> 05:45 PM) That's a dinger in the cell, fo sho Iglesias was a guy I wanted from Boston but not many others did here, but the Tigers agreed with me.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 2, 2013 -> 05:44 PM) Whoever comments on this is worse than Keppinger Maybe I can represent the Sox at the draft next year then instead of Keppy.

Another "hit" that should have been caught by Alexei.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 2, 2013 -> 05:28 PM) Well the Marlins are winning 5-0 against the Indians. Possibly pick up another game. Go Fish ! I'm just commenting all game thread posts now.

QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Aug 2, 2013 -> 05:29 PM) Holy s***. In 348 PA's, Keppinger has 9 xbh's. 9! f***ing 9. How is that even possible? So you're saying that's not a lot for batting 6th ?

Dunn season high .218 now

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 2, 2013 -> 05:29 PM) He makes up for it with his patience at the plate. And his range in the field.

Alexi double Rios single 2-1. 2 out hits . Rios erased in a rundown when throw home was cut off.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 2, 2013 -> 05:23 PM) “@MDGonzales: From Sox notes: Sox starters own a 2.76 ERA (14 ER/45.2 IP) over the last seven games” Probably counting todays game but still hard to figure out how to lose 7 in a row with the starters doing that well. But you throw in all the unearned runs and bad relief pitching and bad hitting and voila.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 2, 2013 -> 05:21 PM) ESPN has him as the least valuable player in baseball this year judging by WAR. Yet Robin sees him as a middle of the order bat.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 2, 2013 -> 04:50 PM) 0-0 through 3 . Let's see if the Sox can get a run before the 6th inning. Hector looking good . Nope

AJ solo HR .

QUOTE (Knackattack @ Aug 1, 2013 -> 02:53 PM) He worked fast and he looks like he can get some strike outs, but I don't think he will be more than a middle rotation type starter, that said I like his approach on the mound and his curve was nasty. I think he will stick in the majors and log a couple 200 inning seasons as a Gavin Floyd type. You make that sound like a bad thing. That would be great actually.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 2, 2013 -> 04:56 PM) Wow what a terrible effort by Dunn That's where an earned run really isn't. Most 1st baseman playing where Dunn was field that ball.

Iglesias with the hit to drive in Fielder 1-0 Tigers. Iglesias looked very quick on the Alexei DP at 3rd. Got it out of his glove very fast.

0-0 through 3 . Let's see if the Sox can get a run before the 6th inning. Hector looking good .

So far so good.

For anyone who wants to see the hi-lites of his outing http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...ws&c_id=cws . There were smiles exchanged when Gomes got a hit off him. Brazilian vs Brazilian the only 2 in MLB.

I think it's ridiculous and tired. We get it already .Hawks a parody of himself . Beating a dead horse unfunny.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 1, 2013 -> 10:43 AM) Seems to be the consensus. That being said, from the little I watched on Tuesday he didn't throw it very much at all. Maybe Coop thought the curve was his best pitch . Could be he throws the curve more often for strikes and they want him to be in the strike zone more often . A big breaking overhand curve is quite a weapon but also one of the hardest pitches for umps to judge and hitters to hit. What appears on TV to be a ball ( catcher dipping his glove to catch it) actually usually is in the zone at the knees. I'm sure we'll see more of his cutter in his next start and see if he can throw it for strikes consistently.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 1, 2013 -> 11:35 AM) Gotcha. K number was still ok so I take it the slider was fine? Change up was off too , was getting it up.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 1, 2013 -> 10:51 AM) Flowers is the gift that keeps on giving. Also, it's quite comical that De Aza is 2nd on this team in home runs. I really question players thought process at the plate sometimes. Looked like Flowers actually thought he was going to get a fastball he could pull there , he opened up so quick. For a catcher you'd think he'd know a breaking pitch was coming . Yay another homer given up by Axe.
