  1. Can't we be in both buy and sell mode?
  2. QUOTE (joeynach @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 07:52 PM) any word on alexi Yea he's the new scapegoat.
  3. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 07:52 PM) Dump half the team, fire our manager and fire the GM is a surefire way to success. Strange Sox indeed .
  4. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 07:47 PM) Focus. Don't let the damn Metro curse even enter into our minds. Stop playing like the damn Cubs do in the playoffs. Thankfully the baggiedome wont be around very much longer.
  5. QUOTE (Nokona @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 07:46 PM) Are we really forced to discuss the drop third strike rule guys? Come on. Wee bee the most smartust fan bass in da hole US of A.
  6. QUOTE (tommy @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 07:45 PM) See I thought it was a dropped strike 3 also.. 1st base was occupied . You can't run to 1st with someone on it even if those runners advanced.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 07:33 PM) Jermaine, just line a slider over the f***ing plastic bag out there. Even if he does Twins have last AB's .
  8. There's a good reason right there to have Beckham bat earlier in the lineup.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 07:16 PM) Well, we better start playing better baseball. We face two of the hottest teams in baseball over the next week, and if we continue to struggle to score more than 3 runs, we could easily find ourselves 6 or 7 games out. Earlier in the season we played well on the road and bad at home. I think that's starting to turn around and they will be better at home now based on the Tampa series. So we just hang tough and keep the faith on the road, hit a little bit better get a few more wins and do well at home we'll be within 5 games till the end.
  10. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 07:12 PM) This isn’t the same kind of division back then. We’ll contend simply because this division is terrible. If we can get younger, by all means, get younger. Oh s***, Alexei. DAMN Contending is contending . I don't care how bad the division is a hot streak and you can be in 1st place easily.
  11. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 07:09 PM) Double play. Hmmm, maybe you should have tagged when the ball was hit to the damn warning track, Alexei? Damn when the heats on a guy you get picked on for everything under the sun. 99% of major leaguers don't tag up from 1st on that Kotsay flyout. Ravenous pack of dogs we got here
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 07:01 PM) Couldn't agree more. Great then we can have another white flag debacle . Is something wrong with contending ?
  13. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 04:19 PM) You wanna crown him, then crown his ass! Gordon Beckham IS who we thought he was! And all you other guys making the crown his ass jokes gave me a good chuckle .
  14. QUOTE (WCSox @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 05:36 PM) I'm sure that Rays fans were saying the same thing about Longoria last year. But that doesn't mean that he's going to be the next Ted Williams. I project that Beckham will be a lot more like Chase Utley, with maybe a little less power. That's really freaking good, but let's not get carried away here. You mentioned Frank Thomas twasnt I. I'll accept freaking good. I think he projects in his career years as 30-35 HR's.
  15. QUOTE (WCSox @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 03:29 PM) Let's not "crown his ass" as the next Frank Thomas just yet. I been watching players in MLB for 40 years. The things he does aren't just coincidence . His abilty to go with the pitch, yet turn on a pitch when needed or just hit one up the middle are phenomenal. He does whatever the situation calls for . He's made quick adjustments at every level .He's a team first kind of guy and those types don't come along very often . If that's "crowning his ass" so be it.
  16. I can understand you not liking him there however he gets more AB's to do his thing and that can't be a bad thing. We'll all pitch a fit if Ozzie has him bunting that's for sure.
  17. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 02:23 PM) Hell the Sox let Baker dominate them... so I expect the same tonight. So much pessimism ( not just by you , in general). I prefer to think every game is a new opportunity to kick ass, past results be damned !
  18. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 02:38 PM) I think the rule is that you have to touch the ball in order for there to be an error called. There's no such rule , it's just up to the discretion of the official scorer, who, in this instance made a favorable call for the home team.
  19. QUOTE (WCSox @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 02:57 PM) If Beckham ends up as our #3 hitter, that means that either he's going put up a .900 OPS or the rest of our offense is lacking in power. I'd just rather not pigeon-hole Beckham. I can see him succeeding anywhere that you might need him in the lineup. He's that good.
  20. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 03:04 PM) Sure, but Mauer? Derek Jeter is a better comparison. Yeah, kind of what I was thinking. That's an awfully liberal definition, not to mention Mauer is maybe the best pure left-handed hitter in the game. I just glossed over the Mauer part since his overall point was he'd make a good 3 hitter.
  21. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 01:46 PM) Holy s***, let's not get carried away here. lol. I don't think that's getting carried away at all. He'll hit for average and power , no doubt about it.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 01:10 PM) Ozzie said that because he wanted the guys in the clubhouse to not worry about looking over their shoulder everyday, and so that they wouldn't have to worry about the manager undercutting them. Its to keep the clubhouse in tact, nothing else. Maybe I'm more old school then Ozzie. D0 what's best for the team to produce. Our run production lately has been CRAP ( no offense to Richard or Poreda). Having Beckham at the bottom of the order is akin to putting Dye there as far as hitting ability goes. Beckham is a run producer plain and simple and this team needs run production. In my mind he isn't a rookie and he can handle it. We need wins and coddling the other hitters isn't producing enough wins.
  23. OK I can say it now . It's the Twinkiedome, none of you really expected MB to get it did you? I'm just hoping we can pull out a win.
  24. Helluva job now all I care about is winning ( ok maybe a no hitter)
