Cueto was a Hahn desperation move. He signed 2 days after the Lynn injury so he is Lynn's replacement .Sox got lucky he has done so well, Velasquez $3M signed 2 days after Perez was signed by the Rangers. Perhaps Hahn only offered Perez $3M like he did to VV. Perez says no thank you and gets an extra 1M from the Rangers. The non QO to Rodon sucked since we really needed someone to replace him. Hahn made it easier for any team to sign him by not giving him the QO. By giving him a QO it means teams would have offered him less money because we'd have to get reimbursed with a draft pick and thus made it easier for the Sox to resign him which also is turning out to be a big mistake. Cueto didn't replace Rodon, he replaced Lynn. If you don't pick up Kimbrel's option you don't have to pay 34 yr old Pollock this year and possibly next yr. That money could've been used as part of the money to re sign Rodon since his cost now is likely cheaper because of the QO. The QO and picking up the Kimbrel options were the 1st things done in the offseason. 2 moves that changed the entire complexion of the offseason. Even if they decide not to resign Rodon how they spent the money could've been drastically different. Sox knew that signing Cueto for $4.2 was going to cost them only a prorated rate of $3.32 M because of the May15th opt out in Cueto's deal. Throw another $1 at Perez and it's possible you get both Cueto and Perez instead of VV.

Bundy has never lost against the Sox. Last time he pitched against the Sox was the 4th of July game. The home plate ump Rackley was giving Bundy all the strike calls and nothing for Cueto. Robert missed 2 catchable balls against Arraez giving him 2 extra base hits. @fathom suggests Engel in CF and Robert to RF in game thread. And of course the now infamous Triple Play . Despite all that it was 2-2 entering the 10th inning . Kelly got bombed for 4 runs and Sox could only get 1 . Final 6-3 .

He doesn't seem ok doing much of anything for the last few weeks defensively . He totally misplayed that ball that he called Engel off of and then stretched for it and totally missed it. AT home against the Twins Arraez got 2 gift extra base hits the old Robert gets easily. We've seen him letting balls drop in front of him in Cueto's start and then charge the ball yesterday , got caught in no mans land and it skipped by him. OF isn't easy , I've said as much before, but Robert used to make it look easy, now it looks hard for him.

Signing an injured Kelly for 2 yrs. $17M. No QO to Rodon . Picking up KImbrel's option and then running out of options trades him for Pollock. None of the many DH's are traded. Was a great opportunity to trade Sheets knowing you still have Vaughn and Abreu. Just to bring in some more youth even a minor league pitcher since Charlotte has nothing. It's sure not the worst Idea I ever heard. He's had his issues lately in CF for the last couple weeks. We've seen him lose focus on routine fly balls and drop them. We just saw a few games ago that play if RCF where he called for it then missed it. In the Twins series in Chicago he gave up extra base hits on catchable stuff. His OAA is the lowest it's ever been at 1 despite it now being the highest number of games in a season Robert has played. His UZR/150 is -17.5 and it's been in negative territory since he returned from his devastating injury last year. He is not the same cat in the OF we saw in 2020. Anyone laughing at your suggestion has their head up Roberts ass and licking his balls. There does seem to be something wrong with him lately and he left the game with lightheadedness yesterday. So unless that was an excuse for him being benched , which I doubt, there is something physically wrong with him. Of course it'll probably never happen because I don't think Robert has ever played RF in the majors yet. I doubt it would be a big adjustment for him.
