Came up in 2021 did better in 2022 hopefully you read that article I posted on how he rebuilt his swing with Driveline. He put his time on the sidelines during 2020 to good use . There are players who can be fixed and as I said before, 2020 was a year that could help you or hurt you and sometimes both . It gave you time to work on things that need time to fix like your whole swing. Not an easy thing to fix . Takes constant reinforcement and repetition to swing a whole new way than what you have done your whole life but it also takes a year off the calendar for older prospects who bloom late . Outman basically did the same thing , fixed his whole swing. Nootbaar is kind of a template for what Outman could be once he gets some PT in the majors. Usually most scouting reports I find on players I get through MLB Pipelines Top 30 prospects for each team list. Couldnt do that with Nootbaar since he was never on any Top 30 list of the Cards. He seems like a good defensive OF from his Baseball Savant Page you'd like him based on that.It's filled with red offensively and defensively ( which is good). Very strong arm , I love those guys with guns.

Funny thing is I went through the Cardinal top 30 prospects going back to 2019 to the present and didn't see Nootbaars name on any of their Top 30 prospects on MLB Pipeline. He just started hitting in 2021 after playing in the Cardinals alternate site in 2020 since there wasn't a 2020 Minor League season. He wasn't anything special in AA in 2019 as an 8th rd pick but all of a sudden in AAA in 2021 he was on fire and the Cards just called him up after only 35 games in AAA when he was 23. Body like Outman 6'3" 215. But Cards another one of those organization that has a knack for developing. Ok but didn't Lawrence back down from what he originally said ? That's ok picking out any specific player in a trade is not likely anyway but I wouldn't mind Jake McCarthy or Daulton Varsho

You listened to it? The only thing he said that MIGHT indicate its a signing is he mentioned Gallo ,most likely because he's the only FA OF in any Sox rumors for an OFer lately. He didn't say signing but that's how its been interpreted I suppose by the majority here. Where did the Gallo rumor originate ? Was it a foodie? I can't find anything on MLBTR of a legitimate link to the Sox by anyone else.I mean sure it could be Gallo based on what we all expect from from the Sox at this point.

Technically there was no playoffs for a very long time. There was just the World Series . The modern term "playoffs" means a series of steps to get you to the final series for a championship. One round like the World Series is a playoff. But I doubt anyone used the word playoff very often. It was just the World Series. 2 rounds or more is playoffs. The Sox are in last place because they had a long (sad) history before 1969 and the Yankees dominated in the AL and maybe the Cardinals in the NL. Of course they haven't done much better since the modern playoffs started either.

It's not that vague. He said new LF in 24-48 hrs. What else do you want from him ? If anyone else like Passan. Morosi, Heyman or Rosenthal had a clue who it was they would post the rumor. So far the big boys aren't aware of anything. Or it's such a meaningless signing that they don't care.

He said Sox are closing in on a LF in the next 24-48 hours. Greenberg said signing which implies a FA but Kap just said a new LF not a free agent and just speculated by throwing Gallo's name out there but said not sure if its him "or someone".

Would be even more revolting if he listed how much money they spent on their other FA signings. Graveman was the biggest last year but Leury, Kelly, Velasquez, Harrison then Cueto only because Lynn got injured . Then traded the Kimbrel contract for an even bigger contract for Pollock which he luckily opted out of . That might be the only reason we got Clevinger. Also decided to do Boras, Rodon and the rest of MLB a solid and neglected the White Sox by not giving the QO to Rodon. Spent a decent amount of money (for them) last season which resulted in no playoff revenue so JR pulled the plug on spending this year instead of firing Hahn. I really think JR ties attendance and playoff money to payroll. I got nothing else.

That's from August of 2022 , so hasn't happened . Getz was probably instrumental in hiring Grifol. Getz and AJ played together for Getz's only 2 years with the Sox so he probably saw 1st hand how AJP treated people. Trying to figure out it's relevance in this thread but carry on.

I assume you have some idea who the Sox would trade and who they would get since you don't want a 2 rookies playing OF . Do they go with a veteran or a Pre arb OF ? Who is this LH OF you would trade for ? So throw me some proposed trades and finish off your plan here just in case the Sox don't spend $21-$27M on your 3 guys.

Nah JR is going to sign Conforto. Also will sign garbage pail OF/2b vets for all for the low low price $25M so they don't have to play Sheets or Eloy in the OF and can keep Colas down because those garbage pail vets will surely outproduce Colas offensively and defensively. After all he is just a rookie without hardly any time in AAA . He has to earn playing time for the mighty White Sox. And those garbage pail pickups will make all the difference. It's extremely unlikely anyway Colas will be good enough to earn the Sox a supplemental draft pick so why even bother to play him from the beginning of the season ? Playoffs here we come !

Maybe somehow you have missed all the threads being filled up with venom for Hahn and JR ? So i don't think I'm alone in much lowered expectations for this season. If the goal is to win the division and get a game or 2 of playoff revenue in the hopes JR will spend more fine, go with that then. I have nothing against positive people. Most of my talks with Balta have revolved around me having some hope that things will go right but you are less disappointed if you set your expectations too high and most of the time with the Sox you're just fooling yourself and you don't believe it.

They really liked them even more last year. That didnt work out too well. They have lowered their expectations this year though.

See this where I have issues with you. My conversation to you today has been civil. But you tell me Yawn and hyperbole me with 15X a day . Excuse me if if expect people to discuss differences without slighting the other person's posting style . Most of our readers in the offseason aren't here every day and I have many conversations with good people here . If I posted very little about Outman and others it doesn't get seen and I wouldn't have people telling me Outman might be a good idea as a secondary piece in a trade or just as an interesting find. @bmags liked Outman, @Y2Jimmy0liked Stone Garret and thought the Sox should inquire about him too. You make it personal and I'm supposed to get over it ? But you're not the only one here doing that so I guess that makes it ok. People don't speak up enough about it. My one suspension in 15+ years was from getting angry that another poster was treated like crap and I stuck up for him and said something to the attacker that wasn't so nice. My opinion is the Sox have a 10% chance of being a playoff team in a weak division if a lot of things fall the right way which is mostly incumbent on about 11 guys being better or some combination of those players being much better. I think we are actually in the same place . Sox are going to mostly stand pat. I think amything they do will likely result in failure. Your plan my plan, doesn't matter. The Sox cant help but be medicore. It's sickening watching Hahn constantly picking guys that flop and spending the money poorly and I'm really sorry if I dont think Gallo or Conforto or Frazier or Pillar are any better than what Hahn has already attempted. AT least with young players with control I can adjust my expectations from instant success with short term pieces did have continually failed to they just need a little more time. We keep getting set up by the FO that this time their latest fix will work if only the guys we put our faith in finally all have one good year at the same time under our amazing new manager. I just don't see much difference between their plan and yours.

The guys that fail to live up to the pressure are many . There's no doubts about that. But the history of baseball is filled with guys who produced right away, guys that produced right away and then flopped and those who struggled then produced and guys that struggle for multiple years and then produced. There's absolutely know way to know unless you start their careers. As the 2nd best OF the Sox currently have and the likelihood is that it will remain that way. Might as well get that train moving now. Pressure is created in your head. Some people just tune it all out, roll with the punches and make adjustments

I don't know what they are trying to do. Do you think the Sox are going to try and sign Conforto, Pillar and Frazier ? Because that's my problem. Does anybody know what they are trying to do ? Whats the best we can reasonably expect ? If you don't think they are going to compete no matter what why keep spending money and just play the young guys.
