At what point do we start to believe?
Historically bad baseball? That' a bit over the top. OK so not supposed to enjoy the Sox fitting into the middle of the pack now and be embarassed for baseball ? As long as the division they are in stays around .500 at the top the Sox will remain close to a playoff spot. They just have to play slightly above .500 against the division. Trevor Richards was a decent trade if he can throw strikes.

Unfortunately that didn't work. Disappointed that in a game that you could reach .500 and potentially move into 1st place that you put out that lineup. I understand the timing of resting MM was bad but the rest of the lineup was about as bad as it gets. Angels tried to give it to the Sox but they missed the chance.

Signing Murakami best Sox decision in ages. Very good investment.
An opportunity presented itself and they took advantage of it, Their seat at the table paid off. Not exactly stumbled into. The rest of baseball stumbled away from Murakami and the Sox were left standing. I will say it was much to their chagrin and Getz already admitted that they did not anticipate being involved at the monetary levels that were expected. This has all been out there before. Extension talks are the news but that's not really any news unless there's an indication that a real offer can be presented between now and his Free Agency that Mune is willing to accept. They cannot start at $100M but most free agents had a MLB track record while Mune does not . So he needs to establish that for his 2 years or be willing to take less now than he would if his 2 year stint with the Sox convinces those other teams he is worth $200-$350M. Injuries can happen. A contract now would be security against anything that would prevent him from being judged more harshly and losing his bargaining power.

Jacob Gonzalez probably not called up:Tweet deleted
Maybe it was a @ron883 plant . He wanted him called up just 22 hours ago in another thread. Of course he's clamoring for Braden Mont. to be called up right away too and Hagen Smith.

I already believe but I won't truly believe until the Pope and a few other familiar faces are in the Soxtalk banner instead of the old group that fell apart. If not the Pope then any of Mune, Colson, Teel, Schultz, Vargas, Antonacci, Meidroth, Martin, Burke . It can always be changed if Braden Montgomery or Bonemer enter the scene if anyone cares. Let's go Jason I know you care !

Then I suggest that you start going to games ,if you are in the Chicagoland area, so you can say you saw the Great Munetaka Murakami and let JR and Ishbia know that you will support them with your honored presence and your money . If you can't attend games then your pitchfork is meaningless.

Schwarber is going strong. Mune's advantage is he has a quick bat . The whole "profile doesn't age well" is overblown. Most players don't age well except perhaps the very elite or as you say unicorns. But Free Agency means that in order to get younger guys at a high level you almost always overpay. Harper got 13 years til age 38. Schwarber is signed to age 38. Machado signed into his 41st year. Freeman got 6 years starting at age 31 and his contract ends after 2027 the same as Mune's does. Coincidence ? It's quite conceivable that Mune get's 10 years especially if the Dodgers are involved. But still another 1.75 years left to see if Mune will deserve that kind of contract. Or with Mune's permission he gives the Sox a window to make an offer big enough to make him feel he's really wanted.

First off the player has to want to be extended. Without that there's nothing that can make a guy who wanted to prove himself and get a big contract stay . If that's the case and it's impossible to sign him , it would be very smart to trade him. However ,there's always a chance he is open to it but we can't assume just because they make a very fair offer that he still want's to choose Free Agency. But to your point, I don't think JR is capable of a fair offer when he clearly doesn't want to go out owing any player $150M or what ever kind of contract he ends up signing. Just let it play out for better or worse and enjoy it while he's here. Plenty of time to sharpen your pitchfork.

Late Night with Chuck and Ozzie and Roger Bossard telling stories about corking bats and his 1st year in 1967 talking about names of players who were my heroes. He brought up Ken Berry ( CF ) who was my favorite player along with Joel Horlen. Berry I think actually was a consultant on Eight Men Out and might be in the credits as such. Also he had a confrontation with Rickey Henderson because Henderson was pissed Bossard was watering down the area around 1st base so Rickey had a hard time getting started on steal attempts.
