  1. Good drafft pick in the 5th round. He 's 23 so every level he advances he's more experienced until he gets to AAA so they could be fast tracking him a bit .
  2. Thry both had low pitch count innings yesterday. 10 for Dominguez and 7 for Hudson
  3. Thought he played the other night and did good, unless I was seeing the future again.
  4. Benintendi doesnt get within 8 feet of that flare.
  5. Not on a play that the catch is difficult to begin with. Some left fielders might not even get a glove on it. His dive was not graceful. The glove has to hit the ball before your body bounces on the ground.
  6. No chance Vargas gets more votes than Ramirez . Ramirez is an institution at 3rd.
  7. In any Sox fans life, dead or alive. Sox have the worst LH output in baseball history. Getting a lot more LH and emphasis on OBP was part of the Getz plan. That right there should tell you that even as Director of Player Development that he didnt have much input over who was drafted or he learned a lot very fast when he started surrounding himself with people smarter than himself. Its simple math when most pitchers are RH you should have a lot of LHH. Being overly RH with too many free swingers was part of the reason why the last rebuild failed .
  8. Sammy and the Pope being a White Sox fan is a great combination. Just to get you caught up if you missed it injured pitcher Mike Vasil (aka Batman) waves around a Harry Potter wand in the dugout. I can also lead you to some White Sox podcasts if you want to message me.
  9. Welcome. Everybody loves Sammy. He's tenacious which will no doubt lead to quick improvement in LF. He's the ideal leadoff man. Hope you enjoy your stay.
  10. Love seeing this kind of stuff . I think Brooke will get hired away from the Sox maybe Connor McKnight too .
  11. You can always read the thread but I think it was locked so people couldnt edit predictions or predict after the season started. That's my guess, not a fact. I also think it was locked to avoid getting called out if you were embarassingly wrong.Last year we could see how everyone voted.I dont think that was the case this year. And not everyonewho voted posted how they voted.
  12. Maybe do an updated prediction thread like how many wins by the All Star break or Trade Deafline and how many we expect at the end of the season. We' d have to let people know how many games are in each time frame since its not an equal split of the season. All previous predictions would be wiped clean in the preseason thread will be figuratively expunged . Or you can stick to any previous predictions. It's to get a bit carried away and the 2nd half record will mainly depend on a lot of current unknowns such as who gets traded at the deadline which corresponds to where the Sox will be in the division when to TDL rolls around.
  13. And our level of fun comes with a bunch of prospects doing well which includes winning and hitting bombs. But in my case it came with watching the kids come up and perform well which was as they started to trickle in, in 2025 and some of the pitchers like Martin and Burke late in 2024 . I also advocated getting Murakami in the off season thread about if you could sign 1 Free Agent. But I figured it wouldnt actually happen because of the projected price tag at the time which was well over $100M from quite a few places. And why wouldn't he get that amount when you look at what he had accomplished at such a young age. He had to be a special bat. But the industry spread the fear of the K with him which goes to show that many many scouts and data analysts can make mistakes on high level talent. No knock on them, it's baseball after all, where, if physical talent is No. 1 then the ability to evolve is No. 1A and having a good eye for the strike zone is 1B. He was the main reason my preseason win total was probably higher than 85% of fans. I envisioned somewhere betwern 70 and 80 HRs between Mune and Colson and those numbers are in my past posts. Still a long way to go before that happens. Injuries always play a part in how things turn out. After all , the trade of Robert upset people who were still stuck on his upside even after all his injuries and especially after his good start . But that soon started to fade and no telling how long his latest injury will keep him out. I was thrilled they could dump his whole salary and get a prospect and used that $20M to sign multiple players. The baby steps of adding talent to boost winning in a rebuild is a fine line of balancing the evolution of youth which also involves some effort at winning so the stench of losing doesnt get too deeply ingrained in them so upgrading the back of the BP with Dominquez to perhaps win a few more late inning games rather then demoralizing late innings losses is important. It's also why I liked the 2 Southern League championions. It was breeding a winning culture at a level high enough to mean something eventually to the big league team and the attitudes of the young players involved. Confidence has to be built along with teaching winning traits like team work, fundamentals and comaraderie. These things might seem like old fashioned and outdated concepts but while winning they seem like a very likable, modest, hard working bunch who genuinely like each other. You see our fans mention those attributes time and time again and say the players from the old rebuild seemed to lack that, even though it might has existed during the Rickey's Boys Don't Quit Phase of that rebuild which was quickly snuffed out by injuries, front office blunders and chaos in general. People here may have hated the Getz hiring but there's no doubt he's built something even while having almost no money to work with. I have no idea how far it can go or how long it will last with JR still driving the boat. Im afraid it could fizzle before Ishbia has a chance to make a difference. So I'll just enjoy it for the time being for what it is, a fun transition period that is on the way up but may get interupted if JR's reign lasts longer than than most of us hope it will.
  14. They have standards we don't. Have heard that a few times. They can't enjoy a team that doesn't have a winning record. I realize that makes it hard for everyone but there's been a lot of progress and admittedly a long way to go too.
  15. Honestly Sox would be lucky to get a few decent relief pitchers out of the whole group that had TJ. This really isn't the year to look for any positive results from them. Next year should be a good litmus test. They have to build back up and work out the rust and kinks.. That'll mostly be done in the minors and unfortunately Charlotte is not an ideal place for that.
  16. Upward trajectory you say ? Winguardium Leviosa ! 🪄. I wonder if Vasil uses that spell with his Harry Potter wand to make things rise. It's straight from the movies and good for a team rising rising, home runs, and .....well, she'll like it too !
  17. I know people were pissed about Schweitzer pitching like crap, as was I, but I didnt think it was that bad of a gamble by Venable. You had 4 innings to cover, seemed like Taylor, Hudson and Dominguez were all going to get 1. That left 1 inning to cover and you got a 3 run leadwith a young guy who pitched well the last inning they used him a few days ago. Better to use him in the 6th than any later. Maybe he gets 3 outs and gets a little confidence for his next appearance. You can't manage just thinking about the game at hand. This isn't game 7 of a playoff game. You need to set up the pen for the rest of the series so Newcomb might get 2 innings tomorrow, Tyler Davis for an inning and whoever is freshest among Hudson and Dominguez or both of them tomorrow consider Dominquez only threw 10 pitches and Hudson 7 today. But ideally only one of them tomorrow so one of them is left for the 3rd game. Or maybe Sox get blown out and we see Hicks and Newcomb and the other guys get the rubber match.
  18. His slug was .721 after the HR. Only 25 ABs though and his OBP is also good.
  19. Game thread miserable is a different animal than I'm just mad about everything miserable. There's some here who wouldn't be caught dead being happy about the Hill HR with a "DEREK MF HILL !!!" outburst.
  20. He was actually 4 for 9 in bases loaded situations so far this year. But that was a terrible AB after 2 straight walks. You have to force the pitcher to throw a strike. Before he came to bat I was talking to my TV " Make him throw a strike Colson . He's on the ropes" Followed by about 3 "DOHs !!!!" and a " WTF are you doing?". 🤣
  21. I forgot to add that the Sox are now 3-2 against the Royals. Last year against the Royals they were 3-10.
  22. By the end of May they might be more than a month ahead of last year.
