White Sox trade Curtis Mead to Nationals for minor league C Boston Smith
Or Kanny perhaps. He's 23 so he's got to sink or swim . Can't be spending time in Complex League at that age. Hopefully he adjusts quickly at whatever positions he plays.

HA yeah that banner is 5 guys no longer playing for the Sox. It's just a putrid reminder of how fast it all crashed and burned .

Charlotte Season Opener 03/27/26
The top 4 in the lineup, Antonacci, Bergolla , Murray and Dunn went 14 for 21, 14 RBI, 4 HR, 2 doubles, 2 Walks, 2 stolen bases , both by Dunn, & 1 OF assist by Antonacci. Can't say enough about Smith and Schultz !

3/26 Opening Day: Sox@Brewers, Smith vs Misiorowski, 1:05 CHSN
I was thinking Acuna probably catches that pop up or even Antonacci but the real culprit was the Sox defense was playing halfway and not conceding a run to in order to hunt for a DP.

And its a shame that umps cant get it right so often . I hate Contreras. I knew he was going to get a hit there. Last year he hit a homer or 2 against the Sox.

Im not saying I dont believe you. It just magically showed up with the Sox and magically disappeared with TB. Doesnt really help your arguments. But we already know you prefer Bannister not being involved with acquiring pitchers that fit the types he likes to work with. You have prejudices for some reason against one of the most respected pitching coaches in baseball who was way ahead of the curve in using data and technology. You also didnt want to give the Sox any credit for helping Crochet become what he did when there's so much out there that they did. Try following your own advice and read up on it instead of talking out of both sides of your mouth. So quick to say the Sox have nothing to do with improvements while being so quick to credit a White Sox success story to a private coach and also implying finding him had nothing to do with scouting or White Sox front office acumen. But you'll jump on the chance to point out ineptitude of Getz or pro scouting because you have some miracle trade in your head and it didnt happen from a pitcher who no one but the Sox wanted .

Funny how that private coaching didnt help him with Texas or Tampa Bay after he was traded but only with the White Sox. He was in AAA with a 5.00 ERA. I guess AAA hitters werent impressed . The Rangers were so impressed they didnt need him on the 26 man roster so he opted out to become a Free Agent and the Sox signed him and he had a 2.10 in 11 starts. How the f*** is that ineptitude dude ? Ineptitude for Texas and for TB when he turned into a pumpkin. Guess that private coaching only worked with the White Sox. Of course if the Sox let a veteran starting pitcher languish in AAA and then did what he did after an opt out like Bourucki just did we'd be hearing how come the great Bannister couldnt fix him and why didnt they trade him ? But I guess TX couldnt even find a trade partner for him . Open your eyes and see the big picture. You're fanning with blinders on only seeing Sox ineptitude when there was plenty of good involved in that whole process for the Sox and not a whole lot for Texas and TB. Yet oh no we traded with TB. Dont do that any more ! Start with Colorado . Yeesh ! The Sox took an unwanted, valueless, pitcher and turned him into 3 prospects and a pitcher valued enough to get $22M.

You failed the exercise. The point was that you expect success in exercises of futility. You expect Getz to do the impossible. Its so easy in every organization to find prospects involved in trades that fail because it happens all the time. This is not unique to Getz or baseball. The majority of prospects fail . The Yordan Alvarez'es success stories are rare. Easy to find failures . You constantly pointing them out is like telling me the sky is blue. It doesnt take a genius to know prospects fail but you have made it an art for pointing out the obvious over and over and over and over...... while barely acknowledging how it's extremely unique pulling Shane Smith and Vasil out of thin air. Youre so consumed with alledged failures that you couldnt even be bothered to look for any successes by all the other GM's in baseball. Yet you pretend it should be so easy to find them for the likes of Adrian Houser ,Austin Slater or the corpse of Eloy Jimenez. Hey heres one for you Tanner Banks got the Sox Bergolla. Not exactly a huge success story yet but thats part of your advantage.I can't yet point out sucess stories because the drafts since Getz became GM have barely had any time yet to develop . Antonacci in the 5th round in 2024 looks promising though. By the way I have no idea what that article was supposed to show me. To me , Houser is a White Sox success story. They got him for zilch, he pitched great for them for a couple months and they got 3 prospects for him. Sucks that Mead couldnt find his power stroke while playing last year when given the chance. But Houser didnt exactly light the world on fire with TB did he ? That trade is over for them but at least the Sox still have Peoples and Davitt. Maybe Mead clears and comes back to play in AAA. Plus the Sox revived Houser's career and despite him not being able to help TB he still got 2 yrs $22M . Glass half full kind of thing. You wouldnt understand.

Easy enough to imagine polishing turds enough to make them glitter but the reality is it doesnt happen often . Find me 5 guys found cheaply who did well in 2025 not counting Smith or Vasil who hadnt used more than a years worth of eligibility yet . Shouldnt be hard right ? Thirty teams out there trying to find those close to the majors nuggets. They cant be involved in major trades Found cheaply. Go.

So what plaerz should they target ? They got 3 guys for Houser. Should it be lower round guys putting decent MiLB numbers ? Theyre still dealing with guys on the fringes. Of course no GM will have much of a success rate doing that. Youre getting them because theyve failed for multiple years , approaching mid 20's and are generally considered AAAA guys. I've been telling people this for almost 2 years . Somehow it doesnt sink in. Its very rare to get breakout seasons from guys like that and even harder for it to last a while. But in Getz' position he has little choice but to keeping digging in the rejected pile. Houser did great after they picked him up but he wasnt a youngster, Vargas is hanging in there. No ones picked up Kopech yet.Fedde did well but not well enough to stick with anyone. Hard to know if Acuna will stick.Kelenic didnt impress enough. Pereira has about the most upside we've seen judging by his 2025 AAA numbers but huge K rate. They all have problems which is why they become available.

And thats close to doubling that win total and 6 below .500 is a lot better than 16 below.. By the time the 2nd half rolls around you could have McDougal, Schultz, Smith , Antonacci, Braden all close to getting looks and Tommy John guys like , Thorpe, Berroa, Adams and Bush returning to the organization for better or worse. Sandlin & Davitt may get some looks during the season also if guys like Paez , Hicks or Newcomb struggle.

Half the regulars weren't even regulars last year. Some are gone Robert/Tauchman/Slater/Palacios. Vaughn ,Amaya, Maton, Jankowski ,Thaiss are gone. Baldwin & Mongomery didnt become regulars until July and helped the 2nd half improvement. Teel wasnt called up until June 6th .Meidroth was called up April 11th and became a regular in May once he recovered from an injury that kept him out the last 10 days of April. Matin Perez and Cannon were in the starting rotation and Perez got hurt early and missed the rest of the season. How about that BP last year ? Opening day saw Fraser Ellard, Bryce Wilson, Cam Booser, Penn Murfee, Eisert and Clevinger. No Grant Taylor until June 10th and no Dominquez. Also no Acuna ,Hays, Murakami. By the time April ended last year the Sox were 7-23. This year's team opening day roster is far better than last years. They shouldnt have over 3 times as many losses as wins this year. They should come close to doubling that win total by the end of April even with Teel and Baldwin MIA.

Pope Leo Bob ( as opposed to the immortal LuBob) graduated HS in 1973 so 73 seems like a good number . However, Im going beyond the Pope to 76. It's a bit of a stretch but Hawk is yelling it in my noggin !

White Sox sign Reese McGuire, Korey Lee won't make MLB roster
Oh so Drew Romo is now a thing and Korey Lee is invaluable ? Backup catchers 2 most valuable tools are being good defensively which includes knowing the right pitches to call and being a sagely presence to young pitchers. Romo and Lee are none of those things. Didnt you learn anything from Bull Durham 🤣 ?

White Sox sign Reese McGuire, Korey Lee won't make MLB roster
Youre absolutely right. I actually think he's referring to something I said about Benintendi not being considered a sunk cost if the slightest possibility exists to recoup a few million or an asset in a trade. That could be a JR thing or a Getz thing or both considering JR cries poor and it shows up in the player payroll .Getz also might believe its possible to eventually get something back in a trade no matter how unlikely it seems. Odds are Beni is still a better hitter than Pereira, Peters, Hill, Kalenic or even Baldwin will ever be. Its a tough situation . The haters want veterans with bloated contracts gone, they want good defense, they want wins, they dont like hearing its a rebuild , they don't want prospects brought up too early but they say play the kids. It's a very enviable position to be in when you can talk out of both sides of your mouth and no matter the result they still get to cry about it and talk about the usual suspects sticking up for a guy (Getz) who is not in a very enviable position. It's so easy to be an armchair GM where no one holds you accountable for the ridiculous things you say.

White Sox sign Reese McGuire, Korey Lee won't make MLB roster
Its not a waste of $1.2M .You're replacing Lee's salary with McGuire's which might be a difference of $400K or less if they get cash for Lee. I don't think the Sox want him back , but we'll see.

White Sox sign Reese McGuire, Korey Lee won't make MLB roster
Since when does every single move have to do with some future Sox championship? You do realize how rarely that happens. Lee was out of options. With the Teel and Baldwin injuries making the Sox a little too right handed they were basically showcasing Lee in ST to try to move him even before those injuries. Why else would he be stealing bases almost every chance he got and Drew Romo not getting any playing time ? Wins or wins on the margins especially getting off to a good start apparently means something to them. McGuire brings some LH pop lost by the Teel and Baldwin injuries and Quero's right side strong bat. Even though reports on Teel's progress are good he is too important to the organization to rush back. Quero is also still a work in progress defensively ( as is Teel). Lee apparently didn't have that veteran catcher appeal that a lot of organizations cherish ,especially with young pitchers. I have no idea on how likely a Lee trade is. My guess is slim although others have mentioned cash considerations. I also dont know what happens with McGuire once Quero returns.3 catcher rostered ? Late inning defense and LH PH DH occasional starter ? Does Benintendi sit and not play more than we think or do they try to keep his bat in the lineup because of the LH bats injuries ? Looks like decisions are coming down to the wire on the 26 man roster. Pereira a lock ? Peters (LH) or Hill (RH) ? Last minute trade involving more than just cash coming back ? Maybe having McGuire around has a little something to do with helping guys like Grant Taylor as much as his LH bat. Call it vet catcher mojo.

Sox Spring Breakout Game vs LAD Sat, 800 cst
Its great ! Sox prospects targeted for ability to differeniate a ball from a strike. Bergolla worked the count to 3-2 after being down 0-2 then slashed an oppo double. After that the walk fest started.
