Acuna is in at SS. Sandlin starts for us. We really need this game imo. Momentum is real and the guys have to be a bit down after last night.

They have the 4th best OPS and 2nd most HR against LHP this season, people just don't like the names on the lineup card.

Actually this is a four game series so really not a rubber match

2 Rookie Starting pitchers , Sandlin for the Sox and (LH)Prielipp for the Twins.

Sox lineup always is pretty weak against LHP. Still no Hays (RH), Pereira (RH) or Braden Montgomery (SH) or even Korey Lee (RH). Sox showing no inclination to demote Quero or DFA Acuna just yet.

Acuna making more and more appearances at SS. Gotta think they are exhausting all reasons to potentially keep him around. He has to be on the chopping block with the inevitable return of Hayes.

He plays SS whenever Mune DHs because Vargas shifts to 1B and Montgomery shifts to 3B. Hays' return (which is apparently delayed again anyway) doesn't really change that.

There's no other right-handed hitting infielder that can play all 3 (4 if he can play 1B) on waivers or free agency we can just add to replace Acuna? Where's Paul DeJong?

Edit: apparently injured and released by the Tigers.

Prielipp has posted reverse splits this year as a side note.

Bring back Da Bong!

Are they not starting Martin until the Detroit series?

I should have specified the lineup is not as effective as it is against RHP, not in how they relate to the rest of the AL or MLB . But if it is let me know. Lineup isn't as strong but that may be the case with a lot of teams.

Sam is much worse against LHP than RHP, Mune's OPS is .128 points lower but still pretty good . Colson pretty equal. Quero is very bad RH this year when last year he was considered to be stronger RH. He's hitting . .061 RH. Hill and Grichuk have hit LHP pretty good . Acuna also much worse vs LHP.

Big difference with Vargas. Easily our best hitter against LHP . Didn't realize just how much better he is against LHP than RHP. Big difference with Meidroth also . Much better against LHP. Helps immensely that our big 3 don't lose much if anything with how much better Vargas is. The top 5 are still concentrated but looks like he dropped Colson down a bit to 5th behind Grichuk .

3 of the bottom 4 aren't very good at all against LHP.

Think the plan was for Hayes to be back now so Acuna wouldnt have to play again. Of course he got hurt.

Tanner Murray injury ( out for the season) hurt our RH infield depth as did trading Mead for Boston Smith.

Lots of depth injuries to the 40 man roster especially among pitchers.

nobody seems to know. I guess we're trying to limit innings. The pitching is a major concern obviously right now. Somehow we've been getting by on smoke and mirrors the last couple weeks. Offense has to be 5+ a night imo to win.

Ironic that JR actually talked to a media member a month / six weeks ago and said "we need pitching."

Ironic because the main reason they don't is because of him and his outdated philosophy.

I think the "don't spend money on pitching" philosophy has come all the way back around to being the smart money again

Acunia’s stats still aren’t even as good as Rikuu‘s disadvantages against LHP. 😆

Maybe, we'd look a lot better if we had signed a 20 million dollar closer.

One can hope and pray 😆

I would Martin would pitch tomorrow against a team playing better and right behind us in the standings

If you want to win today you better have tons of pitching, pitching in spades since guys are always getting hurt. You need to explore every possible avenue to acquire it.

The Sox have very little of it. Especially starters.

Hayes may not be around for a very long time if that hamstring is still bothering him to the point he had to be removed from the lineup Tuesday in Charlotte.
