  1. Good call. I was thinking before the game that he'd been so good lately that on the road it NY he seemed ripe for a clunker. If I had remembered he missed a start because of his back I would've been even more convinced he'd have a tough time today.
  2. No the replay showed Nimmo had rounded 2nd then reversed himself and was on his way back to 1st .Soto was fooled by Nimmo thinking it was a catch and he ran towards his dugout. Maybe once he passed 2nd it eliminated the force out but then again Nimmo also kind of untouched 2nd base when he thought it was caught because he went back to 1st . I didn't see Venable out there questioning why it wasn't 2 outs so guess it was the right call ? But it's so rare Id have been out there saying hey that's a DP isn't it ?
  3. That's why I wanted 2 outs. Rather have had Alonso lead off the inning.
  4. Why not 2 outs force at 2nd base on Nimmo and Soto out of the baseline ?
  5. They don't want a record closer to the Angels. They want the 2026 number 1 pick in the draft.
  6. Competitive because of starting pitching. But winning the opener against a good team on the road isn't in their DNA yet.
  7. Except he wasn't closing the game. Doubtful he would've pitched the 9th . Closers usually just pitched the 9th.
  8. Doogie very impressive. Even moreso with the ump taking the low outside corner away from him against lefties .
  9. Nice using 4 pitches frequently and a 5th twice.
  10. No cluth hitting today. Might cost them later.
  11. Bags juiced. Palacios lucky on 2 straight pitches not called strikes.
  12. Amazing work from Houser for 2 starts. Strange you can just get this from a guy in mid May. And he picked the Sox because he knew he'd go right into the rotation.
  13. I'm pretty sure meant showing a veteran presence for a guy his age .
  14. Thanks for swinging 3-0 Alonso. Great 4 innings . Sox up 1-0. Happy Memorial Day and thank you for your service to those it applies ! 🫡🇺🇸
  15. You don't think the Padres could afford his 2025 salary of less than half his $15M slightly before July 31 ? That's About $6-7M. The other yrs are option years so they could just not pick up the option for 2026.
  16. My 2 cents worth is he's trying to be something the Sox want him to be and as of yet the changes aren't working. He can't be that guy who can have a good walk rate and still be the hitter he was in 2023. He's opened his stance, moved farther back in the box, has a smaller leg kick than in 2023. Those changes all seem designed to give him a longer look at the ball and simplify his swing but sometimes his swing looks like all arm's and no legs/hips in it. I would be remiss if I didn't mention that he hasn't been the same player since returning from his right hip flexor that he sustained in April 2024. He also had the serious right hip flexor tear in May 2021. He just doesn't seem to crush the ball for 425 ft+ HRs anymore . To my eyes he looks stiffer and his timing is way off. Let's get back the front knee lifted higher leg kick ,close the stance and move up a tiny bit in the box guy from 2023 and find the high EV, power hitter again not the weak hitting walker.
  17. I was wondering if some stat head was going to come up with something about Elko being the only Rookie in Sox history to hit 3 HRs in his 1st 30 AB to be sent down to the minors so fast or something like that.
  18. I said it was bad but so was Venable not doing what most managers would've done.
