There you go the conundrum of Reinsdorf. Wouldn't pay to scout draft and develop it and wouldnt pay for it once it reached a certain level of greatness.

You might have to start buying into Vargas. But let's be fair and say to buy into Vargas as having turned it around he has to produce good hitting numbers for as many games as he sucked with the Sox . Is that fair? You tell me how much longer till you truly believe the Sox fixed him ?

LH power in Yankee stadium is even better. Also figured that out a long time ago. The White Sox, never known for being a hitting or HR hitting franchise have had some of the worse, if not the worst, LH hitting as a franchise in baseball history. It might explain why they didn't win very much either along with cheap owners.

If Elko isn't sent down he might be the White Sox HR leader in another 3 weeks . Vargas currently leads with 6. Elko in (what's it been , 2 weeks ?) has 3. Robert hasn't hit one since May 2nd or 1 HR in his last 63 PA covering his last 17 games. Elko's hit 3 HR in his last 29 PA covering his last 9 games and in 1 of those games he only had 1 PA. Vaughn has 3 HRs since April 20th covering 29 games and 115 PA.

Luis Robert trade thread: La Pantera stays.

There's a lot of new data out from statcast. I'm not expert and always seeking more knowledge. I just finished watching the CHGO podcast talking about yesterday's loss, hosted by Sean Anderson. End of the podcast he starts talking about Robert and puts some stats on the screen from 25, 24 and 23. My biggest takeaway which I'll say is a rather simplistic take based on what I saw and what Sean said, is that old baseball cliche about being caught "in between." I mean he's trying, he really is. He wants to take more pitches and make good swing decisions so he's waiting longer, letting pitches travel farther.Maybe he's even thinking more about situation and count and doing homework on pitchers and what they throw in what counts. The truly talented hitters just possess information so much better . That comes from preparing for it and study, experience and just plain physical gifts , eyesight to hand coordination recognizing pitches, spins and grips, following that ball like it's the only thing that exists. Some hitters are overwhelmed by the information and some aren't. So back to being "in between" . In 2023 Robert impacted the ball more early in front of the plate which meant he pulled the ball more and had his great season. Now because he or the Sox say if only you could make better swing decisions you'd be a better hitter he's waiting longer. So when he swings he's also waiting longer and that's just not his game. He's caught in between watching pitches and getting his swing started early enough to make contact in front of the plate. Maybe he's just been injured too much to learn from experience or maybe he's thinking too much , or just is overwhelmed and think's he's failing everyone by not being better. But clearly he can't be something that he's never been his whole life and still hit well. The Sox basically wanted Elko to do the same things and it helped him tremendously. Maybe he just made the adjustment mentally better. Fast-forward to 43:45 when he starts talking about the new statcast stats and Miguel Vargas until the end and he's talking about Robert and putting stats on the screen . Maybe you'll come to a different conclusion than I did. I'm always interested in statistical based opinions . -

Could be. The Sox failed him is an everything the Sox do is bad meatball/hot take. Nothing to substantiate it. I could say Robert has failed the Sox and be a meatball too. However I have no theories that are based on insider knowledge. He's just a young man with a lot of physical talent playing game that demands mental toughness too. It seems odd to me that I read somewhere that signing with Boras somehow got him to take stretching more seriously rather than weight training. You could jump to all kinds of conclusions when you read something like that . Does the player routinely do his own thing and take bad advice and train wrong ? MLB is very proactive about steering players in the right direction for their health and wellness and supplies the info to every team. There's plenty of information to make informed decisions. I'd have to assume it's available in Spanish too . -
People talking about trading Lee is wild to me. You're right if any catcher goes it's Thaiss and thank you for your service.

Robert has to be longing for some Cuban like weather. Like Superman the sun restores his powers and the Sox haven't seen much warm weather. -
🤣 You were not being cryptic but you didn't make any point either. I asked you to make a point and you said Houser is old and bad . So your point now has switched to what Lip said. How convenient for you that he figured it out for you.
-
There are also a lot of fans hoping for a new GM .Is that any different ? If you think Getz is the Adrian Houser of GMs and the solution is up to the same guy who hired Getz why keep hoping he's fired ?
-
Well duh. I gave you a chance to clarify you position but all you said was Houser is old and bad. Now you need Lip to help you be more coherent ? Maybe your point wasn't even obvious to you. So youre saying circumstances beyond any GMs control ( i.e. injuries) necessitate picking up less than desirable options to try not to suck as much.

IDK if his plane was so bad why is he hitting the ball hard or harder than the results might indicate ? Vargas gained weight to try to impact the ball harder, hit it farther, but it didn't work . He always had a good eye and swung at pitches he should be swinging at big he was still making poor contact. Now that they fixed his bat path by finding a hole in his swing that pitchers kept exploiting. That's bat path or plane related isn't it ? Small changes can produce better results is the point I guess. Have to do things that mix up where your weaknesses are since as a hitter you will always be vulnerable to something's. Vargas has changed his vulnerabilities while improving his hard hit rate to be more of the hitter he was against non MLB pitching. It's a cat and mouse game now ,each side trying not to be the mouse. Vaughn never had the eye against MLB pitching He's fooled too easily. Sox are believing he can be unlocked but no results for a long time. They're trying to be a forward looking biomechanics type organization but they lack the experience. Getz shouldn't be talking about making decisions about who is and isn't worth planning the future around if you truly believe you can help any player become a better version of themselves. But Vaughn's had 4 years to figure out how to hit. And he isn't going to become a better athlete to be a better fielder.
