I have a disgustring and insatiable hatred for this team's inaction after acquiring Mune and sticking with Benintendi

When he was signed we could have signed Schwarber and we signed Hays. At least make an effort at another power hitter besides relying on Colson and thank god for Vargas. This outfield was cooked and even one power hitting outfielder (hays wasn't a bad idea) and ironically Grichuk is a great pickup but we need a big ball hitting asshole that can occasionally play the outfield. I'm not saying we should have signed Bader (PCA 0.5) but they never even made a move at a power hitting outfielder and decided to throw 3-5 200 batting average guys and now we're making our infielders learn the outfield again. how hard is it to get a real outfielder? I know it was a pipe dream but throwing the money at mune and schwarber with vargas and colson as secondary dngers would have made this team legitimately one of the best modern power hitting teams of all time. i'm drunk go sox

and yes i understand when it comes to prospects that it's easier to send a SS to CF instead of a 1B to any other position but with Colson's improving defense and boner's all around play and brooks baldwin coming back eventually we're going to have to make tough decisions about players that we like remember when we were upset about Lenyn Sosa? but we're stuck with benintendi.

Baldwin really is going to be bypassed being out all year and then another half season to get back up to speed...like Teel missing almost two months now.

Braden will be either RF or CF by the end of 2026.

They were never going to be legit players for Schwarber. Mune essentially was their Schwarber.

The payroll with Robert and without Mune would have been lower than even CLE #30 in mlb at $65-70 million.

It took a lot of convincing to add Mune...along with Newcomb Hicks/Sand line Acuna Hays Dominguez basically canceling out Robert's budget line item.

Antonacci/Meidroth at 2B tbd.

Would’ve rather had Bellinger than Schwarber if they were gonna spend actual money. He’s been a proper fit for this team since the offseason he and Beni became free agents.

Schwarber would make this team better but he can’t play a position. He’d been even worse than Benintendi in left.

I can certainly see why yesterdays game thread was archived so early even on an off day for all this quality content instead.

Here I ( and others) was posting stupid information about Colson's consecutive game on base streak, Meidroth's hitting streak and Hudson's consecutive scoreless innings streak for fans who might be interested in what's going on since they might be back to watching the Sox again or coming back here for information. Oh and Martin's 17 games started in a row without giving up more than 3 runs streak.

Please everyone feel free to post a White Sox Winner game thread after every victory. I apologize for not doing it yesterday and confining the celebrating to just the game thread. I know it wouldn't exactly be celebrating a World Championship but Soxtalk would've had to exist for over 100 years to get only 2 such threads like that so celebrating each victory while the rebuild is on the upswing is essential.

Was there a tweet out there by a fan who was sitting close to Ishbia yesterday and said he talked to Ishbia about signing Murakami ?

Watch the latest Future Sox podcast episode. James Fox and Ian alluded to it but never talked about it. Maybe it was nonsense but Id like to hear about that. Ill have to find it and post it.

Thank you ! This is the kind of thing that would be fun to discuss if its not made up of course. That's the issue but maybe deserves its own thread or at least more followup. A bombshell tweet like that the guy had to be inundated with comments and questions.

White Sox: Outfield production
This answer could have been outfield or catcher, which are two areas of pronounced early struggles for a team off to a somewhat surprising start. But the White Sox outfield ranks 30th in extra-base hits, 28th in slugging percentage, 27th in OPS and RBIs, 25th in on-base percentage and 24th in batting average. Internal help is on the way, with Austin Hays and Everson Pereira working their way back from injury, and Braden Montgomery -- the team’s top prospect and No. 28 overall, per MLB Pipeline -- recently being promoted to Triple-A Charlotte and just one step away from Chicago. -- Scott Merkin

Also, to rehash, Kiley McDaniel upgraded his Montgomery ratings by early May.

At the earliest...and as late as 2034.

Murakami would be 34 by then.

I do think it is plausible that he said this, as I fully believe while is a minority partner on paper, no one makes billions of dollars worth of an investment into something without having a large amount of say over it. Hell there was a rumor that it was Ishbia's money who make Mune happen in the first place, and I tend to think that isn't crazy. Jerry has slipped into running like an outdated laptop where he just doesn't run anything that he doesn't agree with. Ishbia is our Win11 upgrade.

Most teams are going from Win10 to Win11. We are upgrading from Windows 95.

And that might be generous. We are still operating as the Brooklyn Dodgers.

His watch started when he entered into an agreement to buy the team , started paying off team debt and buying property that could be used for a new stadium. He also already owns more of the Sox than perhaps the Reinsdorf Triad.

I realize that we are in an age where anyone could tell a lie and make it sound believable for attention but he was at that May 9th game. I saw the footage in a tweet although on my phone it was hard to see and it may have been posted just once in the game thread.

I would have liked to sign an OF as well but simply cutting Beni would go a long way as soon as they feel Montgomery is ready. How about 4 weeks from today?

You think Schwarber would have actually signed here? I don’t.

I don't think Danks pays much attention to the contracts JR has handed out lately . 2 years $34M has been the biggest contract in 3 years. Beating $5/$150M was never even a consideration for a 34 year old without a position to play.

We will all believe it when we see it.

I am beyond tired of the daily slams of AB! Let it rest. If you had a disabled kid would you rag on him every day? The guy is a perfect fit for the Sox.

Bro waited 11 years for this

I'm not sure where to drop this. Apparently, the Giants have been gathering a small bunch of long-term contracts and now seem handcuffed by them. Rafael Devers, Willie Adames, Matt Chapman and Jung Ho Lee are all wrapped up 4+ years, and none of the 4 are exactly tearing it up. I'm kind of agnostic on whether JR should splurge in free agency or wrap up every rookie who has a nice 4 months. If they establish a pipeline of talent, they can pay market to keep the guys who look like true, generational stars, and let the others walk.

But the Giants seem to be in a bind.

Is he trying to say that Benintendi has some sort of handicap? Also, why does that make him a perfect fit for the White Sox? 😳
