  1. Eww 2 MLB players for 1 minor leaguer ? Aren't you supposed to get more minor league players for MLB players ? You must consider the recent hot streaks of Vargas and Cannon to be mirages and the minors league hot streak of Shaw to mean he's better than both Sox players combined.
  2. He probably will but once Robert is gone so is $20M next year and whatever remains of his $15M this year. It's looking more and more like Robert won't be gone by Memorial Day Mr. Nightingale . At the rate he's going he's turning into another Vaughn but there's no way in hell JR would pick up that $20M option. Robert's going to be a salary dump. Maybe next year the same will apply to Benintendi. He'll be the last guaranteed contract on the books that isn't near minimum wage . Does anyone out there think Jerry hasn't been planning for the strike for a few years ? JR must be slipping . He actually let Hahn sign him through 2027 but he didn't make that mistake after Benintendi.
  3. Why do you keep thinking I'm saying he's doing a good job? I just made a post that said I'm not going to die on a hill saying he's doing a good job. He's not. He can't. It's not really possible for him to do a good job. I don't know how that message is being lost somehow . But by limiting the amount of money he spends JR is probably limiting the damage he can do . We saw how when Hahn went for mid level cost free agents it turned disastrous most of the time . Old vets who have had better careers than Tauchman or Slater like JD Martinez cost more but apparently no one was willing to meet his price at 36 yrs old. Should the Sox have signed him ? He's done some good things that's all I can say. He's surrounded himself with people he thinks can help with player development and infrastructure. Hes trying to empower the people in the organization so he's not the sole decision maker. No GM can be an expert in all the areas that a GM deals with. He may not be an expert in any area but he's been trying to assemble people who are. That doesn't mean they can polish many turds to make them turn around their careers. You can't make a living counting on that to happen especially when JR doesn't really want it to happen . The rebuild fizzled at just the right time for JR. He could now cut the budget put money into building up the area around the UC and estate plan selling of the Sox and avoid paying hardly any (1) guaranteed contracts during the looming labor strike. That's probably a main reason why sustained success under Reinsdorf was never possible in his 80s, or ever for that matter but multiplied when he got older. It was too close to the end of his life to invest big money and too close to another strike. He didn't want all that debt to be his legacy to his son's. He wants the sale of the Sox to be as lucrative as possible for them. If the Vargas turnaround is real how many times have we heard that if the Dodgers couldn't do how can the Sox ? It might just be a Vaughn type hot streak but at least it's encouraging that Biomechanics and Fuller are part of a solution even if it's just a hot streak and pitchers find another way to get him out. Adjust readjust that separates the good from the bad hitters.
  4. No they don't make everyone around them better . They just push the bottom people off the MLB roster. You could still have 10 other people who suck or a bunch of injuries and win 65 games. And they cost money Jerry wasn't going to pay for. Do you honestly think Getz could've signed 5 players for $10M each ? Or even 1 $10M player ? If that $10M guy is the closer he pitches less than any other pitcher on the roster because there's not a lot of games to close and maybe you get a good prospect at the TDL . Or maybe he's not exactly the best closer around for only $10M and he flops.
  5. And I'm just not going to blame a puppet hired to be bad or with no GMing experience. I don't care who you are . You will not succeed under those circumstances. It's like asking a firemen to put out a roaring 5 story building fire to extinguish it with a garden hose and 5 foot ladder.
  6. Exactly and I've brought that up too. It's Jerry making sure the Sox are sold after his death with nothing on the books, no long term debt . For the strike no guaranteed contracts to pay. He'll lose less money during the strike than anyone. Again I talk about it being a rebuild but I have also call it JR estate planning. This is the cheapest of the cheap Reinsdorf.
  7. I got no answers for you. You're not making any specific charges. It's just generalizing and putting everything in a barrel. It's not something to be happy about but losing comes with rebuilding only now Reinsdorf is estate planning his eventual demise. It's worse than just rebuilding. Complaining about no closer during a rebuild is ridiculous. I complain about things going on too however. What I don't do is complain about Palacios , Amaya,Eisert or Rojas , Tauchman ,Slater , Jankowski or any of the other bums and blame Getz for his talent evaluation. They were bums before they got here. They were hired to continue being bums just not the worst of the worst bums but some injuries and you're playing a lot of your minor league AAAA types a lot more. Trading deadline there's more talent gone. I don't like giving up $500K in Intl bonus pool money for a guy like Castro. It sucks to see it happening again and again over the years. I hated the decision to resign Vaughn but I understand why I guess. I hated the Fedde trade too because it seemed a player light and Vargas had some hitting tools that hadn't translated to MLB in his time with the Dodgers and very hard to know much about the 2 minor league players they got . Immediate instant reaction isn't always correct . Hell even 8 months later it still looked bad. Now for a month it's looked much better but you still can't say for certain the final outcome. Reinsdorf ignored scouting and development and stuck his nose into the amateur drafting domestically and internationally for a very long time especially his policies in the DR where he decided he didn't want to do things the way a lot of other teams were doing it. Yet it was his or KW guys who got busted for skimming money. When you don't pay those people like people from other organizations do, you get the bottom of the barrel scouts and executives too. Or you recycle TLR, another example of Reinsdorf sticking his nose in because he's the one paying for it all. KW 1st time GM, Hahn 1st time GM, Getz 1st time GM . Notice a pattern ?
  8. Look I'm not going to talk about Getz being good to a pissed off bunch of Sox fans who just lost 3 straight to the Cubs. That's a losing battle. That's a losing battle even trying to do it without losing 3 games to the Cubs. Not going to die on that hill. I will say judging baseball talent is not easy when picking young players that are supposed to be the best in the world in the draft. So how are you supposed to judge talent with any accuracy when choosing from some of the worst but once promising talent over 25 years old ? You try picking from a 200+ player pool of guys who have been up and down from AAA to MLB a few times with 1 or 2 options left and that's who you're stocking your MLB team and AAA team with . Or some ML vets down on their luck or recovering from bad seasons or injury getting signed for $1-3M . How many times were there people screaming about Vargas who didn't even know about Jeral Perez ? Now Vargas is hitting and playing a decent 3rd base. That trade is looking better now that 2 of the 3 in that trade are performing better. The Crochet trade looking great so far. Cease trade so far not so good but I don't think he was getting very good offers. These are things most fans don't consider. I still think the worst thing Getz did was not trading Robert after 2023. You see another person saying that now around here. He is just copying me because I said it 1st . I'm just trying to look at everything as much as possible. Reinsdorf hired Getz didn't he. If it wasn't Getz it wouldn't have been anyone any better. It would have been another eager young man 1st time GM working under the same restrictions. There's a reason why the Sox have never drafted and developed a star player from the Dominican Republic when it develops the most MLB players than any country besides the US and his name is Jerry Reinsdorf. Anyone who talks about Getz more than Reinsdorf is not looking at the big picture .
  9. What year did Getz become GM ? You don't become the worst over night. They were well on there way before he became GM . When the highest priced FA signing is 2 years $7.5M a year in his 2 seasons and the budget is slashed by a large amount and your income streams are demolished and your best players fall off a cliff what do you think is going to happen ? What is it about Reindorf or rebuilds you do not comprehend ? Getz isn't blameless but if I were to put a percentage on the blame Id put Reinsdorf at 95% of the reason the Sox don't win very often. The worst season is just the worst version of Reinsdorf we are getting now.
  10. Did u see me say it was impossible ? Those teams have normally have very established ways of doing things in the minor leagues. I don't think Getz has been the owner of the Sox shitting all over player development for over 40 years .
  11. Who had no money to built much of anything.
  12. He does understand the plan that's why he said f*** off to JR.
  13. Who is easily leading the Sox in hits this season.
  14. Some of it will happen but not all of it. Something always happens that changes the equation before they all come back. My best guess isn't likely to happen either. I wasn't laughing at your choices so much as the unlikelihood that it never ever happens based purely on you're making 4 predictions. Don't think they will trade Thaiss so early. If they trade Robert they want Taylor's glove. Lee they might just keep him in the minors and burn his last option. Sounds like at least another week before all of those decisions are made. Benintendi might be the last one.
  15. The way it isn't going to happen.🤣
  16. Looked out but honestly on CHSN there wasn't a definitive replay because Taylor's heel was blocked by Busch's foot or leg so can't see how close Taylor's heal was if that's the part of his foot that hit the base 1st.
  17. Elko 2 good ABs against Rea but can't quite square him up.
  18. Cannon's been really sharp his last 4 starts . He's hitting his spots.
  19. Venable just keep putting lefties in the lineup against RHP and keeping everyone sharp when it's really not necessary. Like the 1st game with the win blowing out there was no reason to sit Elko against a AAA pitcher. Why call him up otherwise ?
  20. I don't know what he's lost but the walking and stealing bases Robert is not nearly as good as the free swinging Robert.
  21. Yep really good talent. Plays hard , shoes a lot of enthusiasm. Sox fans would go apeshit over a grinder with that much talent and swag.
